Awesome! Staff was very friendly. They had some pretty good sales here as well, even on the hardcover books. Everything was clean and organized. Not many people here, it was nice and quiet and found all the books my friend and I were looking for and more! Would come here again, for sure.

Large selection of books, but sacrifices the amount of records for too many mangas. It is unlikely you will find what you are looking for, so you are better off going to the fashion island one with a larger selection.

B&N in Fashion Island is holding down the fort for bookstores. Beyond being genuinely quite appealing to the mass market book nerd, Barnes & Noble is now a reliable game and puzzle vendor. This particular store wasn’t especially efficient.. but they were extremely well organized.

Of course this is one of my most favorite bookstores. It has pretty much everything you could ask for. And if whatever you want isnt in, the wonderful folks who work there will get it for you. I just love browsing the racks and racks of books, looking for my next great read. It is truly the best way to spend an hour or an entire afternoon.

Looking for a good book? The world of books is endless as you enter any bookstore. Any topic you didn’t even know existed, exists here. Yeah I know the library has books too but there is something magical about walking into a bookstore and picking up a new book and flipping through the pages. Maybe even hanging out for a bit and reading to see if you want to take it home. Sometimes you can find a chair and just get lost in your book. So grateful that Barnes and Noble is still around, most have a Starbucks inside - coffee or tea and a good book. 📖 ☕️ 😀The staff is always helpful and the shelves are always organized at this location which is next to the Food Court in Fashion Island. It’s a great place to find nice gifts too!

This morning I visited this Barnes&Noble to kill some time before an appointment and was PROFILED by Erin, the manager, who thought I was trying to steal a book. Based on several past reviews, she not only has a sordid history of treating customers terribly, but she also has a history of unethical and unprofessional behavior towards her employees. I’ll never be returning, and I strongly urge that everyone support their local bookshop instead of supporting this chain, which has let this type of repulsive behavior slide for years.~Continue reading for my full experience~This was my first time at this location and at a Barnes & Noble, in general, in a few years, so I was excited to read for a couple hours with a coffee from the cafe.Walking in, I knew which books I was interested in comparing and spent about a minute looking for the first one before finding an employee, asking her where it was. I followed her to one of the tables by the front register where it was located, thanked her, picked it up, and checked the price. Another book I was interested in was there, so I checked that one too.I had to use the restroom, so I leave them both at the table and walk around the upstairs and downstairs in search of one before sitting down to read at the cafe. After not finding one, I decided to walk around the food court, which was right outside. As I stepped out of the store and was a few feet outside, Erin (the manager) follows me out and asks me “Did you need help finding something?”I told her no, and that I was just going to the restroom and coming back. She turns around and goes back into the store without saying anything else. I, personally, think that’s a weird question to ask someone once they’re outside of your store. Considering the history of terrible customer service at this location, I highly doubt her true intention in rushing out of the store behind me was to help me with something.I go back after the restroom and decide to check out the magazines before heading upstairs again. I see and employee and smile as I walked by into one of the magazine aisles. I see Erin walk by and I hear her tell that same employee to stay by the magazines and watch me because she “knows” I’m going to steal something. I brushed it off and thought maybe I was just hearing things, so I continue looking at the magazines and notice the employee walk into an aisle with me and scan a random magazine for no reason. I take a beat and ask her where the graphic novels are, since one of them was on my comparison list, and she directs me upstairs.(This is where it gets bad)About a minute into being in the very small graphic novel section, I see Erin whip around the corner, bob first, and immediately asks me if I found the book I had asked about when I first walked in. She obviously talked to her employees about me. I told her yes, but at this point, I knew she was profiling me, so I asked her if she thought I was stealing during our interaction outside of the store downstairs. She got flustered at the question and asserted that she was just trying to help me find something and that our interaction was inside of the store. I assured her it was outside of the store and that it definitely felt like she thought I stealing. She responded with “that’s what we get paid to do.” I was shocked by this response and her admittance to profiling me without just cause. As she turned around to leave, she asked if I had left the first book up front, and all I had to say was “Yup, where I found it.”Whether her actions were racially motivated or not, she was incredibly rude and made the experience of being there intolerable. I ultimately felt very uncomfortable after the interaction and left without a book, just a bad taste in my mouth.If you’ve gotten this far, thank you taking the time out of your day to read my horrible experience. I strongly urge you to shop at a small business or online instead of supporting this location, which clearly endorses and compensates this type of behavior from management.

I went in looking for a gift for my nephew’s birthday and I had partial title of a book (the series and the number in which it was released even though they aren’t actually numbered) and the person was able to help me. My nephew was also looking for Pokémon cards and so this turned out to be a one stop shop. Everyone was super friendly from the kids section to the cashier.Normally I go in for myself and and have a great time browsing and finding books more my speed and it was nice to be able to pop in and quickly get something I hadn’t looked at in years! I highly recommend checking this location out.

As a pregnant mom browsing the kids section it’s always fun. It is a little loud but that’s due to location and foot traffic which is a good sign for them. The employees always come and ask how you were doing and if you need any help. Plus the staff is really knowledgeable on their stock and is always helpful when you ask for recommendations.

Spoke and had “help” from one of the managers, Erin, only she wasn’t very helpful. She was extremely rude to me and didn’t have a very nice attitude towards her employees either when I saw them interacting. I’m concerned about the management at the Fashion Island location, especially since they seemed short staffed and had to be running around. Aside from this, the rest of the employees were great and the store is nicely kept!

Enjoyed how big it is, there is about 20% of the floor area used for board games. Staff is friendly and prices are set at retail, but are also very unique offerings so I think it makes sense. Newport in general is nice and this location is no exception.

My family member worked there as a holiday hire for 3 weeks. Management is terrible and disorganized, especially the manager Erin, who underpaid my family member in cash (because they knew she wouldnt know thats not legal) on her last day. The company still owes her wages $ and she cannot get a return call! We have had to involve the Department of Industrial Relations. Shady, unethical place. Beware.

I was with a Spanish-speaker and they noticed my translations so she made an effort to provide the service in Spanish. Much appreciated considering not many people would make the same effort. Hi,Please do consider providing free hot water refill for customers who purchased tea in the cafe. Though the cafe charge only 50 cents to refill but a good gesture is always appreciated.I was pampered by the good service of the staffs who refilled me hot water for free after my tea purchase. This afternoon, I was told by one particular staff that she has to abide to the policy (understandable), to deny me the free refill of hot water. Worse, she’s taking away my good haven by telling me she’ll notify all the other staffs to charge water refill from this point. When I mentioned Starbucks next door offer refills for free, she told me ‘then go to Starbucks’, which wasn’t a very customer-friendly thing to say. So I did. Starbucks refilled me a cup of hot water with a brand new cup at no charge, for the tea I didn’t purchased there, with big smiles and a heart-warming advice of “becareful it’s hot” .Free refills comes with many benefit, I.e. impulse purchase of other goodies at the counter. I often get a Kind nuts bar at one of my refill. Even adding 50 cents in the initial purchase to provision the refill makes one feel better. I heard someone telling another to take a break but the guy said, After I finish this section! which I thought was nice. He was organizing books. It was very clean, and was connected to other stores in pavallion, which made it easy for us to navigate around the whole place, without getting lost.

This is great book store with so much more. Theres a small toy section with Ghibli studio figurines that my 11yo daughter went crazy for. Another small area with Japanese anime figurines that my son liked....and books. Lots and lots of books.The coffee area was smaller than Im used to in a Barnes and Noble store but serviceable.

This is my favorite location in the chain except for the location on 55th in New York. It is fun and pretty easy to park in front of Macys and walk over. During lunch hours, it can get busy in the lot directly in front. The barista in the coffee bar there is great and they always seem to have what Im looking for. Highly recommended.

It was inside Fashion Island. The escalators will bring you down to the bottom level and there you will find plenty of restaurants to choose from. I rarely pick up a book to read, but walking through this B&N makes me want to pick one up. There is plenty of reading material, they have Starbucks, and youre at Fashion Island. The most beautiful outside mall in CA.B&N has a food court next door if you want more seating after purchasing your book. Id rather take an ocean view though.

Since the Amazon domination it is harder and harder to find brick and mortar bookstores. Barnes and Nobel for me had been the standard for what a bookstore should be. Its quiet except by the Starbucks they have inside. There are a couple of places where you can sit and read. They have a huge selection and with a staff that know how to help you find what it is that you need. No one ever harasses you to go but something and you can come and go as you please.

This is a standard Barnes and Noble store, with a music/DVD area (downstairs), as well as a cafe. Two notes: that cafe refuses to honor Starbucks cards, and the store is so understaffed that you are now allowed to bring products out of the music area, even as an alarm still sounds several months after this change. Also, they push their Nook line, frequently staffing the upstairs Nook kiosk even as regular book information goes unstaffed. So, its an OK store, but not fabulous by any means.

Rude employee. When I look for books on the bottom shelves, I always sit on the floor (for the past 10+ years?). I mind other customers and make sure I am not in way of any people traffic. I was sitting in the Art section in the corner, with no one around me. I was told rudely by an employee you cant sit on the floor. I thought it was uncalled for when I could have politely been asked once you choose a book please sit in that section.

Ive gone here before as its relaxing to get a coffee in Fashion Island and look at books. The bookstore staff hv been exceptionally helpful and kind. The lower level cafe has Starbucks like products but isnt SB. The staff here hv been very nice also. Also the cafe has had seating which is a premium lately. Although Id say a party of four or more might have a challenge. The store is two stories high with escalators center. In one corner is an elevator which exits top level next to the restrooms. Next to the B&N is a good Wahoos and other fast food too. There is central cafeteria seating here too that is usually pretty open. TIP *** Park close to the Dicks Sporting Goods sign. Take the escalator down and veer left. There is a lower level bookstore enterence here and the cafe is here.

Great to see a bookstore in general. There arent many bookstores around but its a treat to see a barnes and noble still standing at various locations. The joy of being able to sit down on a chair or bench and read some novels is definitely a treat. Not to mention that there are cafes inside the barnes and nobles so you can both read and enjoy a cup of joe and some treats. The one thing about this B&N is that its very unorganized. I wish I knew what I was looking for. I couldnt find calendars and there was limited staff. I had to look on my own to find certain things.
