Dark Wood lends itself to the jazzy feel of the restaurant. Everything was excellent (macho salad, sweet potato and cheese enchilada with a fried egg on top, cornbread bites, and artichoke to start.). Martinis were $18 but they were good and food prices were in the mid $20s range. The artichokes are as good as ever which has always been very good at Bandera. The cornbread bites for $4 were reasonable and tasty. I would definitely be back.

2/27/2024Had a great dinner for my besties birthday. The pork chop was great, had a nice glass of wine, and yummy dessert. Cant believe I hadnt been here before. Ill need to try some other items on my next California visit.The server was super friendly and made good suggestions. The restaurant is clean and pleasant, not too loud but not too quiet either.Overall, very enjoyable.

This used to be my place to go in my 30s. For Mothers Day we decided to visit our old haunt now Im 56. Not only has it not changed a bit but its gotten better if there is such a thing. The manager is amazing, the service is impeccable, the atmosphere is top-notch and classy, and the food, just wow over the top. Do you want a place to go for dinner with guests, your friends, or whoever is with you, hands down this is the place. Enjoy!

Believe the Hype! Great ambiance, outstanding service, and amazing food. This is a great place to be seen...if you sit at the bar or not be seen if you find a spot in a romantic corner. I only had time for the appetizers, but that felt like a meal to me. Great attention to detail. They create your own little personal dining area with an small table cloth. The salad I had was extremely fresh, and the salmon was perfectly cooked... and like I said, that was just appetizers. I will return for the full treatment for sure...to be continued 😀 😎

I love the beef ribs with cole slaw, corn bread bites and artichoke!!Their ribs are so tender! It really hit the spot! Ahhh yes… I’m so satisfied hahah the bbq sauce is yummy!! the cole slaw isn’t too saucy. It was refreshing!Their chicken is really soft and tender too!Omg the Oreo dessert is sooo GOOOOOD!! If you get dessert, you have to try it!I love the sauce that comes with the artichoke. Gimme the recipe!! HahaThe corn bread is nice and hot! Crispy on the outside and moist on the inside! Probably the best Salmon I’ve ever had, and the chicken is pretty tasty as well. Okay the chicken is more then just tasty, it’s amazing. Service was good and the ambiance in this place had me thinking I was in a cabin in the woods. This place fills up fast so make a reservation or prepare to wait for a seat at the bar. First-time guest. Was invited for dinner and took advantage. Outside looks nice, very well manicured and maintained plants and trees. Parking was easy to get in and out of. Inside, the ambiance was nice. Dimly lit, clean and staff was cordial. Gotvsat within 10 minutes. Ordered the artichokes and they were Delicious. Had a few cocktails 🍸 and they were generous with the alcohol. Ordered the pork chops and Hawaiian steak and let mectell you, otvwas nothing short of fantastic! We topped the night off with coffee ☕️ and Deserts which were very good. If you are in the area, give it a go! I recommend.

We have been talking about going here for years but never had an opportunity. Well we have most definitely been missing out. This restaurant has a small menu but what they do have was amazing. This has actually been one of the few times that we have loved everything we ordered. The service staff was super friendly. Every bite was perfect, and for upscale restaurants the price was totally reasonable.As a couple of foodies my wife and I come from totally different backgrounds and rarely have the same tastes. But both of us loved everything we ordered.Bandera definitely shows that out of the two approaches restaurants take, perfecting a smaller menu wins out over having a wide range of choices.Thank you for a wonderful dinner!

Always such good food. The family had a great dinner once again! Fresh American cuisine and great presentation. I had the ribs and chicken combo, others had beef dip, chicken sandwich and macho salad. The chicken sandwich is amazing. The beef dip is always the go to but seriously go for the chicken sandwich. My chicken and ribs we also very good. The coleslaw also was amazing!

Great food at a great price. The food is very high quality and tasty but doesn’t break the bank. Me and my wife can eat here including an appetizer, drinks, and dessert for less than $100. The servers are very polite and proper. Would highly recommend coming for a nice dinner date with your other half.

Unfortunately artichokes were out of season on this trip. The cornbread skillet is no more instead it was cubes which were not as hot or fresh. In my opinion some of the best salads you can get. Chicken is always fresh and delicious. In the past I got my martini re-chilled half way through, not this time. This is the last bandrrs location, I truly miss the one in Scottsdale. I hope it continues here.

This is one of my favorite places to have dinner. Lately I’ve been getting there hamburger with fries which has always been delicious, but unfortunately last time I was there the meat was off so I didn’t even finish my meal.The atmosphere is excellent, dark ambiance with laid back feel.Service is great most of the time but I have had some servers who forget you exist lol.Side note, if you plan to come here before 6pm DO NOT park at the bottom without paying the meter. You’ll have a nice gift on your windshield for $70! I had reservations for 6pm, parked pretty much at or around 5:58-59, and that ticket maid gave me a ticket.

I ordered The Hawaiian which was a ribeye steak that was marinated with a pineapple and soy sauce that came with french fries, although you can change the side from their selection should you wish. Ordered medium rare and it was cooked PERFECTLY. I would highly suggest ordering the corn bread as well. The menu is on the smaller side but they have amazing things to choose from. Went for a birthday so we also had the Oreo ice cream dessert. 10/10 would go again.

Great place, ribs are excellent. I have however noticed they have cut some cost on the portions. Cornbread is still great but a very small, much smaller, portion. Macho salad has also lost some of its luster. Not a deal breaker but it’s a bit disappointing, I’d rather pay a little more and have the same food quality level.I also was not fired up when I called to place a take out order and they told me to go online. I was driving, so not possible. They ended up taking the order on the phone so it was fine.I think management should take a closer look at the little things mentioned above, I’d hate to see this great restaurant turn south because it is a fixture in CDM and we love it.

We come here pretty often and have never been disappointed. Their service is always very professional and on time. The food is always very flavorful, and perfectly cooked with amazing quality. The roasted artichoke appetizer was to die for. I ordered the Seattle style Salmon and my date had the Double bone in pork chop. Both were delicious. Its rare we find an amazing meal when we go out. I highly recommend this establishment.I will say, if youre looking for a quiet, romantic place to dine, you will not find it here but If you dont mind a little noise, just go! Food is phenomenal.

My girlfriend and I have been i dining out for many years and Banderas still manage to surprise us with their excellent service and outstanding food. Sarah was our server, and she was fantastic. I have never been brought a refresher martini glass. We were treated to a warm and friendly environment upon entry and every interaction we had with employees from host to kitchen was top notch. A cozy warm patio to spend the time waiting for your reservation something I usually hate doing, a particularly amazing salmon appetizer, very good grilled salmon the and spectacular roast chicken. As advised by the restaurant, we arrived upon opening to have our party of 6 seated for dinner. They have limited seating for larger parties and don’t take reservations for “large” parties. It is worth noting, we have been seated at a party of 6 several times prior to today.The hostess was extremely rude and refused to seat us. We offered to split our group into two. She stated they don’t split parties.Zero effort to accommodate us. Zero explanation if they had a policy change. Literally, the worst customer experience.Sadly, Bandera has dropped off our family favorite list as a result of this very rude hostess. Even if we have a party less than 6, we will be dining elsewhere.

My family and I have been going to Bandera’s for over 15 years. I had my 50th bday party there w family. I have gone 2 times in the last 3 months both times the steak was tough and had a lot of gristle. They have axed 2 signature items from their menu the tri tip and the cornbread in the cast iron pan. Now they give approx 8 little tiny squares. I know many people that go there regularly and have noticed a drop in quality and service. Unfortunately we won’t be going back.

I have driven by this restaurant for years, but this was my first visit. My last try was before Covid and they were too busy for us to get in without a reservation.The restaurant is set up with bar seating in the center, with a number of cozy booths around the perimeter. The food was excellent and the service was firat-rate! We arrived right at opening, and we were joined by 4 groups before the door was unlocked! By the end of our meal, the restaurant was very crowded. It seems like a local spot to eat. I will visit again to try other menu options. The restaurant makes their own mix for the margaritas and have a very unique froth...my wife thought it was tasty. I had a Kolsch beer and the grilled salmon.

Very disappointed with part of dinner;The rotisserie chicken and rib combo was extremely disappointing, the chicken leg was raw inside, the wanna be beef rib very thin and small. The Hawaiian rib eye dilemma, the first one was by far the worst cut ever, full of fat and gristle....sent back ( they shouldnt have served such a poor quality), the second one come out too fast and sure enough it was undercooked, sent that one back too. The bbq Salmon was really delicious and I loved that little cucumber salad, so fresh. Desserts were nothing worthy of this caliber restaurant. ( icecream cookie....really). Had a wonderful evening at Bandera with my wife. We started with some Cabernet and an appetizer as well as their fantastic corn bread. Krista was our amazing server and she was not only attentive but had a 5 star personality and excelled in quality customer service. My wife loves their grilled artichoke and I had the small salad with goat cheese which was so fresh and tasty. For our entrees my wife had the Salmon which was a bit overcooked yet the service to replace the fish with a freshly cooked piece was amazing. We even had Danielle the GM stop by an apologized and she was so pleasant and professional. My wife is very particular regarding her fish and the second piece was perfect. I ordered the filet mignon which just melted in my mouth and was made to perfection. The red cabbage with goat cheese, broccoli and pomme puree were all top shelf. Their wine selection is also quite good and very reasonable. I had to leave at the end as my parking ticket was expiring so I gave my wife payment to check out so I could retrieve the vehicle. I did leave my prescription glasses at the restaurant and I called as they found them and will hold them for me to pick up tomorrow. A great night, amazing ambiance, stellar service and fantastic quality cuisine.Highly recommended.

Located in Corona Del Mar this cozy restaurant offers amazing food, ambiance and top notch service. This evening had the seasonal artichokes that are wood fire grilled and paired with a ramulada sauce $20. Had a glass of Dauo Cabrinet Sauvignon $15, but the star of the show was Wood Grilled Prime Ribeye with Blue cheese tomatoes on the side. That was $60. This steak was amazing and had a nice wood fired taste.The restaurant makes you feel like youre in a ski lodge and has great interior design and the service is amazing. HillStone restaurant group is our familys favorite and when we travel domestically we seek out their restaurants because of they offer great food, ambiance and amazing service.

UPDATE: Been a long time favorite...food, ambiance, awesome service, and the best skillet cornbread on the planet! BUT! and this is a BIG BUT! The crunchy sweet crusty skillet cornbread with gooey chewy center is NO MORE! They replaced the skillet with a few measely cornbread squares. (Feeling justified in saying same recipe?) NO it is NOT at all the same.Furthermore, their once delicious and generous portions have to shrunk too. The nacho salad was always my go to, was a hearty bowl finely chopped and loaded with delectable goodies... their tender chicken, crunchy pecans, w/ a sweet juxtaposition of goat cheese dollops and plentiful dates. Its now a moderate sized plate of greens with very few goodies. I was really looking forward to birthday meal Id been craving a long while, (and to taking home some cornbread home). Not only was the once renowned cornbread a level 4 vs a 10, but the dry, sparse salad was hugely disappointing. Service and my company was good, else unrecognizable. These changes are unacceptable in my book. This USED to be my favorite restaurant. Ive been going for 20 years (less so after my move further away) Not anymore. Unlikely I will bother to go back. And will stop raving about and sending folks there as well. Very sad.

“Simply Amazing”Came here on a recommendation from a local with my significant other. The atmosphere was excellent and exactly what we were looking for at a jazz bar. Although the wait was about 45 minutes, it was well worth the wait.We started with a roasted Brussel sprout special and it was absolutely delicious. My entree was the cheeseburger and my SO had the Seattle style BBQ salmon. I like eating burgers, and this was the first burger that needed nothing additional. No ketchup, no extra seasoning. The salmon tasted superb and was cooked perfectly.For desert, we had the Oreo ice cream cookie and the banana Cream pie. Both were delicious, especially the chocolate espresso sauce that came with the Oreo cookie.Lastly, the service was great. Part of my family was seated in a corner booth that holds 8-persons. We were told by the receptionist and the General Manager that it is against the rules for our party-of-7 to sit together. We were told “Corporate wants to safeguard the ‘dining experience’ by limiting how many customers sit at any given table.” Therefore, part of my family will have to wait for a second table. So, 2 of my kids were not with us for our Christmas dining experience. Meanwhile, people were waiting over an hour for tables, and we couldnt sit together and offer up our second table. The fear of Corporate reprisal is clearly written on server & management faces. What about giving what the customer wants...allowing management to make appropriate exceptions? Really?(Don’t #2) Men, dont wear a hat in the dining area, even if you are covering up from recent chemo. You will be asked to leave. Ladies, its okay for you. Really?(Don’t #3) Dont linger on a night-out date dining experience at Bandera. A few years ago, the GM asked for our table because the lounge-wait for tables was so long. Really?If you are a frequent customer and have experienced similar restaurant Bandera Corporate “rules” annoying or unbearable, let’s ban together with a 2-star rating and maybe Executive Management will listen and loosen up a bit.Side note: I wasnt drinking (designated driver) so I was polite yet direct. I kind of feel the need to state the obvious on this place... you get what you pay for! I have read a few reviews on Bandera prior to going and all complained that it was expensive. This place is absolutely phenomenal! Worth every penny and the service is next level awesome! The food is fresh and full of flavor. They cocktails are reasonably priced and again, taste amazing! The lighting is a tad dark for some people, but it sets the perfect mood for almost any occasion. The bar is a great place to have a craft cocktail and catch up with friends. Not what it used to be...(This is for the CDM location)The food was OK, certainly not great.I had the Hawaiian Rib Eye. It was cooked how I liked, but the fries it came with looked like typical McDonalds.Made reservations a couple weeks out... wifes birthday. Nope, nothing.Also, we noticed how noisy it was. We remember a much more intimate atmosphere. Then I noticed all the speakers above all the tables and around the bar. Turns out they pipe in crowd sounds to make the place sound busier than it really is. Really? Cant we just enjoy a nice dinner out without the added noise? I would expect this in a sports bar.I know Covid has been absolute chaos for restaurants, and I know extra measures are being done to stop infection, but there was a strong chemical odor coming from the AC vents. If they have to spray in a disinfectant, could they at least use something that doesnt smell like gas station restroom.And finally (Im sorry) the website is very clear about the dress code and the quality experience they want for their customers - but we saw plenty of people in all kinds of attire.Really, it was more like Outback with dim lights....

Im pretty familiar with Hillstone restaurants and I can almost never speak highly enough of them and their staff. These guys always do the right thing in every situation. When I went, we decided to wait the 30 minutes because I wanted the french dip and nothing would deter me from that. The host noticed that the wait time bothered me because I was super hungry and offered every possible solution to help the wait time go by faster. Once we were seated, the manager actually came over and apologized that we had to wait for the table and our drinks (we literally didnt even wait 20 minutes). These guys are super on top of everything and that will forever be appreciated.

This was our second visit to this restaurant. The food is excellent, hence the four stars. But this is a very expensive restaurant, so be prepared for a bill of over $100. Red wines were very good too, once they warmed to an appropriate temperature. My husbands wine was very cold while mine was just too cold for a red wine.Only problem was that we attempted to pay using a Visa gift card only to be told that they do not accept gift cards. So buyer beware! They issue gift cards of their own though. Our thoughts are that they likely get hit with a fee for taking Visa or MasterCard gift cards and therefore dont want to take them for that reason. My opinion is that as expensive as they are, they certainly can afford the minute fee. Probably wont ever return for this reason.

I have been going to Bandera for years and love the food. Last night met up with my girls and we were a bit disappointed. First of all the service used to be much better. The serves really knew their stuff. Our poor server didnt know one beer or wine from another. She was very sweet and tried. She clearly had not experienced wine/beer tasting. or even been trained properly. The cornbread is to die for! Unfortunately, the portions have been down sized to the point where 4 people get a small bite each. It seems that someone from corporate has come in and cut back the portions in order to cut costs. The Macha salad used to be a really great salad! Now, you get about 4 bites of chicken. The food was delicious, but $78 for a salad, 2 glasses of wine, a bite of cornbread and a bite of ahi poke appetizer is a bit dissapointing.

When I picked up my food, I asked for to-go utensils and the server told me “sorry we don’t have those.” I asked if they were out, and he said “No, we just don’t offer them.” I looked at him and was silent. No utensils and yet he took my phone order for a salad, a side dish and a dessert, without mentioning this???? Hey Bandera! Either get to-go utensils or tell folks who make phone orders that unless the caller has their own utensils maybe it’s best to order a sandwich or call another restaurant. And when you forget, offer to void the order or maybe comp the order. And if you aren’t going to give utensils then be honest about your ice cream “sandwiches,” which you now make without the bottoms. At least I got to drink my ice cream after it melted. Sheesh.

Cornbread delicious. I had the double pork chop which I thought was going to be a really.thock chop. I received 2 big juicy porkchops & could only finish one! Its now my go to dish when.I am.hungry.

2 years later - Bandera has been my favorite restaurant for 10+ years. I used to order out on a random Sunday if we were hurtin from the fun night before. Easy, but gourmet take out! Ive since showed my husband who LOVES it, my cousins and most recently my mom and dad. We live in Long Beach, but Ill make a drive to CDM in a heartbeat if it means Bandera is in the cards. The DipDuo is to die for and the Hawaiian...please give me three. My husband and I will split be because we like the DipDuo before and the oreo cake after....if its in season, dont pass on the artichokes.12/9/2022 - this review was from two years ago → Hands down, the best spot ever. Service is incredible and the food is to die for. I could eat the dip duo everyday for the rest of my life lol.

Its not an expensive restaurant, in my pics can see the bill for a French dip sandwich and the rotisserie chicken with a beer, chicken wasnt fully cooked, does that mean rotisserie? As well the meat was grinded meat and as well not fully cooked...

I had every respect for Banderas before dining at the Corona Del Mars location recently, what a horrible experience.It wasnt the food that knocked this place down, its the snobby attitude and poor service.When I arrived 5 mins before my reservation, I checked in and was told that it will be another 15mins or so without a blink or smile. From my experience, restaurant would at least pretend to get your seat as soon as possible at your reservation time and suggest you wait on the side or bar. I completely understand theres a little bit of wait when the restaurant is busy, but why the attitude? Ive known Banderas for their excellent service, so I was taken aback. I think the receptionist noticed and added that I had priority seatings since I made reservation. I dont want priority seating, I just wanted to be seated near my reservation time.After that ordeal, we were greeted by our horrible waiter. The whole negative experience started when I asked if I can replace my mashed potatoes with the fries...I mentioned that I dined at the West LA location and asked if its different. The waiter couldve just said, Im not sure and apologized that they didnt have fries at this location. Nope! Instead, he started flaring his attitude and started naming the different cities and told me that he didnt know how those restaurants were run and what other places provided; adding that every location is DIFFERENT!So as we ordered, I asked if my dish can be split into two plates since were sharing. Am I asking too much? This is a highly rated restaurant, so shouldnt I expect excellent service? Well, I was told no, but he would provide us extra plates. From my experience in the past from Banderas, the waiter would always split a plate if requested with no problems...another difference. At this point, I didnt want to ask the waiter for anything...actually, I was ready to walk out of the restaurant.Due to time Ive wasted waiting and starvation, we stayed. The food came along with the extra plate for the artichoke waste...we used that plate to split our dish since we didnt want to bother with the waiter for anything. 15 mins into our dinner, the waiter brought our plates and pointed out the one we were using was for the artichoke. At this point, I was already irritated and responded to him that we knew, but was just working with what was given to us, he apologized half-heartedly.At the end of our meal, our main dish was finished, but we were still working on our artichokes and asked the waiter to box the last one (3 in total).The waiter dropped off the bill without a word and started taking our plates away without asking if we were done. Before we even noticed, all of our utensils were taken as well...we were still working on the second artichoke! At this point, we gave up on the second one and dinner in general.As we were ready to leave, the waiter dropped off the box for us to box; and as we were writing out the tip, the waiter came over and hovered at our table to fill our water for the first time, argh!The service was absolutely horrid here and I would never want to come back. Im so disappointed with this location and Ive never felt discriminated against...the crowd here looks like the cast of the real housewives of OC and perhaps I dont blend in, but I dont need to be disrespected or mistreated. Good bye and good riddance Bandera of Corona Del Mar! Im never coming back!!!

We dine here @ least 3 times s month. Great atmosphere, good food, wonderful staff, however be VERY careful the wood floors need to be redone because they are slippery!The manager highly encouraged me to contact the Hillstone group in regards to this because “it happens way to often!” As they were helping me up two women at the bar after asking if I was ok & helping me up said “we’ve done the same thing here and the other gal chimed in, yea and my mom as well!”It’s a real problem they need to fix! So, I am boycotting Bandera’s till they fix their floors!!! Now I need to go to my Chiropractor for adjustments and my bruised right shoulder after 3 weeks is just now clearing but still quite visible...Not good Business Bandera’s I don’t care how much I love your Grilled Artichokes & Salmon & Chicken!

Ive been going to Banderas for years the food is gone downhill and the customer service sucks! They want to hurry you along like youre at some cafeteria. The hostess act like they own the restaurant. I will never eat there again and Im a local.

One of our favorite places to go eat! We visit the one in Scottsdale and then here in Newport. Excellent food, service, and atmosphere! The filet mignon is my absolute favorite!

Pros: great quality prime rib french dip sandwich, good quality ribs, delicious daquari, nice atmosphere, great service, and a wonderfully unique smell...Cons: not much selection (I personally couldnt find many appetizing options), chicken wasnt any better than a rotisserie you pick up from the store, expensive drinksHad been wanting to go for years but will not be visiting again unfortunately.

We have been coming to Banderas for many years and have gone through smaller portions and higher prices. Tonight, however, was the last straw. We ordered cornbread and got the new mini size for 5 people. It was dry and not much more than a bite per person. The waitress said it was because so many people take the leftovers home. Poor excuse. Last time we order that and for me Banderas is off of my “favorite go to” restaurant.Make two sizes not one dry mini.
