Nightmare company. VERY misleading and dishonest about fees - something I was purchasing was being repaired before I actually would accept and I was told I needed to pay pro-rated fees for the time leading up to actual accepting the equipment and having the seller funded, adding up to thousands of dollars. Now that the equipment has been accepted and the payment has been dispersed to the seller, they are saying the thousands of dollars I paid in advance are not contributed to the final loan. No one seems to be able to give you any answers for questions, and just pawns you off to the next person.I have been trying to get their insurance department to accept my COI, which includes everything theyve asked for, and they still wont take off the monthly insurance fee. Not only that, I was assured by my account manager that I would be retroactively credited, which no one else will seem to confirm.Predatory. Fraudulent. Cant say enough about the last year of issue after issue with them. Stay away.

Very rude sales representatives! They called my company asking for a specific person who is no longer with us. When we explained that we werent interested, the sales representative insulted our employee relaying the message by telling her to stop talking and instead get the person who can make the decision. We had no interest in the first place but insulting one of our dedicated, polite employees is beyond unacceptable.

Had a truck approved for fince with them. Waited a month didnt hear anything.Called and called and never a return call.Come to find out that they sold out and never let me know.Know Im glad I didnt do anything with them.I hope the new company dose better then these guys did.Glad after looking I didnt do anything with them.They need to get there act together.Hopefully soon they will become a better place to deal with. Theyre growing to fast and not taking care of the people.Theres needs to be a personal feeling for this place to help and not make even a number.Thats the bad part of the company.

This continues to be the shadiest leasing company I have ever encountered. When you sign a lease get out the microscope to read the fine print because they will find as many ways as possible to stick it to you so be prepared.

If I could rate with negative stars, I would. The salesperson pushed through the contract and I did not take the time to read the contract in detail to discover that not all payments will be applied to the lease schedule. They charge rent for the deposit that does not apply, in addition to the fact that they delay the start of the lease for 3 months to get an extra prefund payment. You are not allowed to talk to anyone but the sales person so getting any explanation is impossible.Run! I would use a loan shark- they are upfront about screwing you.

The worst ever. Stay away. Used them to finance a cosmetic machine then the pandemic hit NYC and I was unable to make full payments. Offered to do it over a longer period of time and they refused to negotiate. I never missed a payment, albeit it was not the full amount. And what did they do? Sued a primary care doc whose office was shut for 5 months in NYC and who volunteered at the hospital during that time. But EVERY month they got a payment. Now I have a HUGE judgement against me because of the pandemic. I am a physician who has never ever not met my responsibilities. Absolutely the worst experience Ive ever had. We financed a truck through Balboa Capital and I regret ever giving them an opportunity to earn our business. I will never use them again for anything. They charged us a non insurance fee of over $300 even though we have never ever had a lapse in insurance. I spoke with 2 different representatives and both were of zero help and had terrible attitudes. Besides being condescending they simply regurgitated their policy of reviewing our insurance certificate which would take 10-14 days because theyre busy. Were all Busy! Bad answer and way of handling a customer service issue. All I was asking for is confirmation that they would be crediting the improper fee and they couldnt even provide that. In addition instead of trying to de-escalate the matter I was told that even if they find that our insurance was always in effect that they may keep the fee as a penaltyLastly, they were provided all information requested prior to deducting this fee. Poor way to treat a customer!

We have used Balboa Capital for years now. Always made our payments. We are a new car dealership. They snuck in No insurance fee which was an exurbanite amount. When we contacted them-they said no problem-send over the proof of insurance. We obviously we did. But they are still charging us and wont waive the fee....

Our equipment leasing experience with Balboa Capital was excellent! The Account Manager was very professional, knowledgeable, and easy to work with. His response to our questions was always timely and accurate, and he made the entire process enjoyable for our company. We shopped leasing rates with several other competitors, including companies we have dealt with in the past, and found that Balboa Capital provided the best rates available. Be careful of non insurance fees. Ive used this company for about 7-8 years now, never had an issue before, BUT last year, as every year, on July 2021, I got an email asking for proof of insurance, and I sent it right away, because I was aware of the $199.76 non insurance fee they have, good thing I dont delete emails. My mistake, I didnt look at the invoices or the money that was being withdrawn from my bank account, on May 2022, I realized that Ive been charged for a non insurance fee for 11 payments now, so I looked for the email I sent, just to make sure I actually sent it, and I did, so I contacted them, and explained them the situation, and YES they found the email from July 2021, after doing some investigation, the CSR, saw that they actually received the insurance certificate, but someone on their end forgot to apply it to my billing, so they agreed to credit me for the money Ive been overcharged, but NOW on August 2022, theyre saying theyre only gonna give me credit for only 7 months out of the 11 I was overcharged because my insurance certificate expired in January 2022, BUT they never asked me for a new certificate, even tho it automatically renews every year, this never happened before, and now because someone messed up, Im being charged $799.04 for a non insurance fee, that was the mistake of someone from balboa for not applying it to my billing.Just be careful, my mistake was not looking at what I was being withdrawn from my bank account, but I dont feel I should be paying the $799.04 they didnt credit me.BE AWARE!!!!!!

Never had any problems with this company until I call a few weeks ago. I was calling to ask for extra time on my equipment loan for this month. Im on automatic withdrawal never missed a payment Im reading a few reviews an it seems like thats how a few loans are setup, but After getting a few weeks extension extension I was told if I didnt pay they would mark my account delinquent. Long story short the payment was automatic withdrawn 2 weeks later with an ridiculous late fee which no one spoke to me about Ive been calling about this for 4 days now finally talk to a representative she picked the phone up disrespectful, had an attitude I spoke she didnt. (How can I help)? She could not tell me why I charged a late fee. I asked to speak with another person since she seemed to be having a bad day. That upset her Her exact words were since you wanna talk to someone else lets see if you can get through hung the phone up Ive been calling 4 days now and havent heard back from anybody left multiple voicemails no one returned my call.

To all the small business out there. I need your help. Please share this nightmare as many times as you can with as many people as possible. This is the only way it can be fixed.We bought a septic pump truck using Balboa Capital. It was like someone was pulling each fingernail off one by one. Absolutely clueless on the process of buying a truck in Texas with the titling laws, the insurance process, and all aspects of what was needed from us. Took over 2 weeks to complete the process. Our insurance agent and the trucking company that we bought the truck through was equally frustrated and said that this was the most painful process they had ever went through. After the process was done now we have to come up with over $2000 to pay for the titling which could have been put in the loan but now due to their lack of knowledge we have to come out of pocket for it. I am grateful for the loan, but it was sure painful. If you use them, go into the process with a reserve of patience.1/22/20 Update to what they have done to us.We were new at this process when we did this equipment purchase at that time. During the lead up to us choosing Balboa Capital (2 years of cold calling from them), they were offering us capital for equipment financing. We were told that we were getting a $1 lease purchase from them. Meaning we were going to pay a little higher interest rate for them to finance this lease purchase and at the end buy the truck for $1 (This is what the salesman told us). The truck that we found cost $28,500. We were willing to take the higher rate since our company at the time was not able to us banks because we had less than 5 years in business.NOW THIS IS REALLY WHAT WE GOTWhat we got was a lease agreement from them for 5 years and then we must pay them to buy the truck for fair market value at the end of the lease. So, a $28,500 truck is going to cost us around $80K. I will let public opinion decide if this is even fair. We have contacted lawyers and were told that it is not illegal to sign a bad contract. PLEASE HAVE YOUR GUARD UP WITH BALBOA CAPITAL. Even after doing this to us they still call and try to solicit us for more business because we have a good pay history. I tell them this story and the salesmen tell me that I am not the first time they have heard this from people they are talking to. I then ask them to fix it and the standard reply is, sorry they cannot but going forward they are not like that anymore. In the fine print it says that if we choose not to buy the truck and there is a small window/ time frame to let them know. We also must deliver the truck to them in California and are responsible for all repairs during the lease period.We are in Texas.Update 3-6-2020We came to a financial agreement, so we are adjusting our review.Updated 5-1-2020I made a change to this review on 3-6-2020 because Balboa Capital would not send us the tile until we changed the review even though the truck was paid for. I had no choice but to change this review.Once I changed the review, they did overnight the title to the wrong address and it took over a week for Fed Ex to find who this package went to. Fortunately for us one of the drivers knew our company and was able to correct Balboas screw up.The payoff contract stated we had to have the truck paid for by 2/28/2020 and we did. On March 3 they drafted another payment from our account for over $2000.00. We talked with our bank and they told us to give them time and they should just refund the money. At the 30 day point we disputed the draft and since Balboa did not respond we were told that there is nothing they could do. On 4/17/2020 I sent an email to Balboa without any response. On 4/20/2020 I called corporate and the same person who I sent the email to, answered the phone. She told me that she saw what happened, but it would need to be investigated and that would take 3-5 days. Then after that is would take another 3-5 days for the payment to be returned. AT THIS TIME, WE STILL DO NOT HAVE OUR MONEY BACK.

Just got a start-up business equipment loan from this lender. Truly amazing service! Got answer and approval on the next day following application -- thats after being bounced around and declined by others for over a month! I highly recommend Jay Wi as your loan officer at Balboa because he was simply excellent in every aspect and had my loan expedited in a record breaking time. Poor loan execution and post-loan service. I did one franchise loan with Balboa. They promise the world, talk a good game, but they fail to deliver. They employ guys in their early 20s who dont understand lending. I get a solicitation call every few months. Always a different guy. High turnover. Loan service department is a bit better.

Poor experience all together from the company and the sales person, delay after delay in funding, lack of communication, erroneous payments charged to the wrong account, long holds and dropped calls from customer service. Just finished up a second transaction with Balboa Capital in less then a year and I must say the second time was even easier than the first. Doing business with them has been about as simple as it can get in my opinion. I just called my agent Anthony gave him the numbers and the salesmans phone number and the 2 of them worked out all the details. All I had to do was sign the papers and pick up the equipment. Be careful what you sign. Fine print on the contract very confusing. Hire a lawyer to exam it. I asked the salesperson more than 3 times, if the agreement is a loan or lease. Every time he replied that it’s a traditional loan. After a month I found out that the contract was actually a lease. So he lied to me just to make me sign. Called him 100 times but he never answers my calls or replies back to my emails. Costumer service was horrible. They could not help at all, instead told me to keep calling the sales person and resolve the issue with him. He freaking lied to me and I need to resolve it with him? What about the company...? Are they aware that sales people lie to get the contract sign, or maybe that’s how they train them. Stay away from Balboa capital. Google them, and you will find out how many people sued them, including the state of CA.

I was a vendor for this company ONE time and that will be the ONLY time. They promised to fund my account 50% upfront (which they did) and the following 50% of the order when the end user received the product. Well its been 7 months since the customer received his paint booth and I have yet to see the remaining balance of $3400. It seems like you talk to someone different when you are able to actually speak to someone and the same results with no call back. I guess I will have to send them to the collection agencies. If you do use them all I can say is GOOD LUCK. Yes, I was looking for negative stars also.

Balboa was very efficient in their funding and helpful with the equipment suppliers to get the payment terms I wanted. I only knock them down to 4 stars because they started out with such s high rate but I was able to get it down with negotiation. However, I was in a time crunch and I think they tried to take advantage of that. Once youve negotiated a good rate, theyre a good team to work with despite their internet reviews which scared me at first.

They will keep customer deposits made before you received funds even if you decide NOT to move forward with the loan, mislead how much you will owe at the end of your contracts and give false rates to make you believe you are paying far less than you actually are!THIS COMPANY IS ABSOLUTELY AWFUL both to employees and customers alike. I cant give them a 1 but refuse to give them a 3. My sales rep was great he kept me abreast of what was going on and how things were moving forward with my account. I asked to have the account canceled before it even started as the terms were not what I needed or expected. I asked for refund of my deposit and was advised that it could take a week before I get my money back and also that I could forfeit my deposit due to the paperwork I signed even though services were not rendered.I am disappointed about the process!!!

Our company is in the HVAC industry. We obtained financing for a commercial client. We signed a 50/50% funding agreement with Balboa. Balboa told us the deposit would hit our bank account 5 days ago. We still have not received a deposit and the Regional Manager is non-responsive. Left two voice mails and e emails. Called customer service and the sales dept. Both said they could do nothing, I would have to wait for the Regional Manager to respond. Very disappointed. Wont be offering their services to any other commercial clients we have.

Purchased a printer for my small business. After almost paying off my loan i was informed that now i could purchase my printer that I just got through paying for, for the same amount I just got done paying for. I will never use this company again ever. What was the point of the loan if I have to repurchase after paying for ???? Is this not double dipping. Customer service is so rude they hang up on you if you question them. They were not this way while I was filling out for my loan but afterwards everything changed. Also dont get to comfortable with who you think is a contact because they will get fired and everything they told you will be told is a lie and they as a company will not stand behind what the other person told you. You will get a huge run around. Also once they tell you a price and you make that payment 2 to 3 times the amount will go up and they will change the amount and tell you that the person who did your loan was wrong and you have to pay the higher amount. this company is a joke

11/28/17. Addendum to my post from a month ago. Today the individual named below in my original post called my office threatening legal action unless I remove my post detailing my opinion of his rude treatment from my original call while explaining the misleading and false offer his company made in writing. He went on to taunt me about which State or Federal agency regulates his company when I said I really hadnt had time to go further with a complaint about their false advertising and bait and switch loan program. Then he screamed but you had time to write a 5 paragraph review. So now I guess I am going to have to take my time to research who regulates them and make a formal complaint since the legal dept will be calling me soon according to Mr Silva. Apparently Mr Silva hasnt learned any manners since our last phone conversation. If I could give negative stars that is what they deserve. And I really believe in my humble opinion that the sunshine and lollipop reviews heralding their wonderful service are phony. I looked on Yelp and found them to have 1 star and few positive reviews.These people are scam artists and very rude. After waiting a sufficient period of time to be contacted and hearing nothing from Balboa Capital, I called to follow up on what was phrased to be a PRE-APPROVED, NO PAPERWORK, NO LONG WAITING line of credit activation I submitted online per their instructions. Sales Manager Anthony Silva came on the line, and was so abrasive and condescending to me, I almost hung up the phone then and there. This turned out to be not a credit line at all, but if I did this, and if I did that, and if the sun sets a certain way at midnight on Friday, they might grant some sort of financing where they will immediately start debiting interest on a daily basis from our operating account. I explained to him that as a 40 year business, with multiple locations, there are many moving parts. Having to now worry that one of a dozen accounts we have is funded for their withdrawal every day was not going to work for us. When I asked more questions, I learned it was not a credit line at all, and that they dont even offer credit lines. So my next call will be to the California and Florida divisions of lending to file a complaint for false advertisement and fraudulent offers. Mr. Silva who claimed to be the Sales Manager then sent me an email with no header, no logo, no company signature of any kind. He spent most of the call arguing that all Banks are now having customers pay their loans back daily and made comments that were frankly unnecessary about why we were borrowing, which by the way was due to debt accrued from a new location we acquired earlier this year. His financial numbers that they had pulled on our company were half a million short of our actual revenue, yet he still continued with the rude attitude. If he is the Sales Manager. I can only imagine how rude his sales people are with this example being set for them. I would stay very far from this company if you are looking to borrow. We used this company for 3 leases. The proposal looked good and had an interest rate of around 16% which is high, but we we were growing quickly and wanted to conserve cash at the time. Buried in the fine print was a clause we were not aware of that allowed them to charge us rent from the time we signed the lease until the time the equipment was approved. Of course there will be some time to get the equipment and approve it, in our case around 2 months. As a result we had to make 14 monthly payment rather than 12, which increased the interest rate from 16% to around 50%. To add insult to injury they also charge a lease termination fee of $3,000, and not a $1 buyout as shown on the proposal. Looking at other reviews of this company ( you can find them on ripoff report and many similar places) they are doing the same thing too many other companies. I would never use them again and I am consulting my attorney regarding a class action lawsuit to recover these undisclosed extra charges.They have a A+ rating with the BBB but I do not see how they can maintain this. I am asking for an investigation of this

This is the most underhanded leasing company I have ever worked with. They set you up on automatic payments and think it is a license to charge you whatever fees they can conjure up. I spent several phone calls talking to their representative before entering into this lease, listing all the possible associated fees to ascertain the cost of this lease before deciding it was feasible. We are now at the end of a 2 year lease and have been informed that they are charging us another $500 termination fee. Their customer service representatives are rude and so unhelpful. I cant even get to speak to a manager to discuss this. I was told this is a $1 buyout lease. We were never told it would cost another $500 at the end. Such bad, bad, bad business people!! This is a lesson in due diligence. We decided to lease a printer from a local company who used Balboa Capital to fund the purchase. We have had the worst experience over the three years of this lease. Just the like the many other complaints we were charged insurance fees with no notice, charged late fees for billing errors and now are being prevented from returning our equipment. It was our understanding we were to pay a deposit upfront plus our first payment. Close to $5,000.00 between the two. Then our next payment should have be 3 months later. NO, they attempted to take another payment in November which didnt even allow our company enough time to get the new business venture off the ground and make money on the new equipment in order to start paying the bills. We complained, so they moved the date to December and then another payment in January. This is NOT documented in the original paperwork we completed with the company. Their wording is extremely vague and they do not take the time to explain their process with their customers . THEN, we get a notice in March, that our payment is due April 15th plus they tacked on another $449.17 for a non insurance fee. We have had insurance on the equipment this whole time. They never once called or emailed us as a courtesy to give us a heads up that they havent received a copy of the insurance policy in order for us to fix the situation. They received a copy of our insurance policy on March 27th and to date have still not credited our account for the insurance amounts nor have they fixed this issue. We have called literally over 46 times, have sent over 15 emails, and to date cant get this issue resolved. No, because they wouldnt fix the insurance amount, we had to do a unauthorized form with our bank so that they wouldnt take out the additional insurance money for the automatic payment. We called to do a check by phone for days and were never able to get a hold of anyone. Left several messages, still no reply by phone or email. We then faxed in a check payment, and they so conveniently processed it late and charged us a late fee of $$463.00. They customer service practice is by far the worst we have ever dealt with in our 15 years of business.

Beware the evergreen clause. If you miss a poorly-defined deadline you will end up paying a lease for another year, even though the equipment has been fully paid for already. They will also make you pay their sales tax for another year, will randomly charge you insurance even though they have yours on file. A 2 year contract will have a pro rated period before the time officially begins, allowing them to extract even more of your money. And if thats not enough, when you finally do get the letter in on time and get to end the contract they will ask for a Fair Market Value that is almost as much as the purchase price (which you already paid more than 2 times over) despite the salesman saying it will be a $1 buyout. This company had a 1 star rating recently, it seems like they are intentionally flooding their reviews to get the rating up. Look at other review sites before doing a deal with these crooks.

Liars and CheatsI mailed my payment 9 days before it was due. Theres also a 3 day grace period and they applied my payment 4 days after its due date. So, evidently, it took 12 days for my payment to get to them from Texas. Regardless of how long it took to get there, theres a date stamp from the post office on the envelope... specifically for time sensitive materials such as bill payments. Whoever receives the payment is usually supposed to apply the payment to the due date since the envelope was stamped as such.Ill be issuing a complaint to the BBB. To begin with we were led to believe Balboa Capital was a finance company that provided traditional loans to small business. They are not!! They are a leasing company which means...... you do not own the equipment you are having financed once youve paid the payments agreed upon in your agreement. At this point Balboa Capital has the right to charge you what they call fair market value for the equipment financed. Which can be as much as what you originally financed it for. THEY DO NOT MAINTAIN THE EQUIPMENT AS A TRADITIONAL LEASE, NOR SWAP FOR ANOTHER PIECE OF EQUIPMENT. YOURE REQUIRED TO MAINTAIN THE EQUIPMENT TO THEIR STANDARDS. Please be very mindful, diligent, and aware of the paperwork you sign when dealing with this company as... they will not explain the details of your documents to you as a conventional loan officer would. They tell you as little as possible about the paper work (this is your responsibility) but.... want you to sign and submit their paperwork back to them as quickly as possible. Be weary when a company wants you to do this. Common sense would tell you that a company wants you to be fully aware of what you are getting yourself into so you can prepare for your investment payments. This is their investment, and they will take full advantage of you once youve signed your life away. We canceled all payments going to them and had our equipment on site already so by doing this we had them by the short hairs momentarily since only a few payments had been made. We learned the hard way. We were lucky enough to have caught it before they were able to charge us our original finance amount plus fair market value by having them rework the paperwork so that it stated they would charge no more than 10% at the end of the lease. If youve made the mistake of signing with this comany and have not already paid a ton of payments on your equipment you may have luck doing this. However, Balboa Capital does not negotiate so be well aware of this.Fast forward 5 years..... Balboa, without notifying us, renewed the HELL LEASE for another year in full awareness we had an addendum written up by them that stated; wed pay no more than 10% fair market value at the end of the 20 quarter agreement which is in 6 months. Anyone who is dealing with them atm which would like to get together to file a class action law suit... please feel free to email jobs@heltoningramseptic. Its horrible that theyre allowed by law to bleed us dry with sketchy, immoral, cowardly business practice. The people leaving good reviews are more than likely paid or havent realised how screwed they really are yet.

Funding took too long almost lost a deal because of it. Took several weeks to complete funding and pay everyone involved in the purchase. They avoided my calls and responded with vague info most of the time. I kept getting the run around and false promises every time someone would actually speak with us. I had to borrow money from other sources to keep the deal together. They will keep your deposit if you ask to cancel the funding and go with another bank. Please do yourself a favor and avoid doing business with this group of con artists. Management and staff do not care to respond to obligations to customers once they have all of your money.

One of the sales person called to solicit. Pretended that he knew the manager. He was VERY rude and unprofessional. Not sure how people can do business with them if the first impression we got was uneasy.

Company keeps adding additional fees, lumping them under very vague wording regarding taxes and fees. I have asked for a pay off quote and have not received it. Company is dishonest. Do not use them - go to the bank if you need a loan
