This place is in a great location and the atmosphere is really nice. You can bring in outside food and drink and have a little party or just come for date night. They have lots of fun games and ad-ons to make your axe throwing even more fun. The downside- aside from a brief safety talk and throwing demo you are pretty much on your own. I have been to other axe throwing places where they have someone guiding you and coaching you so your throwing gets better. They will do this if you ask them but unless you are asking they will leave you to your own devices.

We took the family to AxeVentures Berkeley for my son’s birthday. We had a blast. The staff was on time, knowledgeable and courteous. We spent an hour and a half throwing an assortment of axes. Small ones, heavy ones single and double sided ones. Very fun. There are multiple runs to play in and the place can accommodate groups as well.

This place is so much fun!!!We had the chance to have the place to ourselves and it was epic. First time axe throwing and the staff were so nice and helpful. We got a detailed explanation of how to throw the different axes and then just went for it. More tiring than I expected and an hour of throwing was just the right amount of time we needed.

Here for a office team building day. It was a good time. We received a brief lesson and from there, its trial and error. 4 different types of axes to throw and each one throws different. Not sure how much the rates are since it was a company event, but it was something fun and new.

My niece came to visit from NY and I thought this would be a great activity for us to share in. AxeVentures did not disappoint. The music was bumping and the vibe was fun. Competition with my niece was even better. I recommend this establishment to anyone that enjoys fun and activities. Great place to bring family.

I love AxeVentures! Ive gone a few times now and always have a blast. The staff is so kind and thoughtful, always there to give some pointers for better axe throwing. The place itself is simple but designed for fun. I personally love the black light nights as well! With a range of weapons to throw and a book of games to choose from, you wont get bored.Highly recommend!!

So much fun!!! I had a great time at AxeVentures. I went with a friend on a Wednesday, and we were the only ones there, which was nice (probably because we went there after the semester ended for students and before summer sessions began). We got a detailed debrief from one of the staff members on how to throw the axes safely before we started. They even checked in on us midway and gave some helpful tips on how to throw better. Would definitely recommend to others–its a really great activity to do with other people (and helpful to destress, too haha)

We made reservations online for 4 of us. We all had a great time but we quickly realized for us out of shape people it is physically exhausting. The nice part is they had chairs and tables to hang out in between playing. We got the balloons to tape to at the target and that was actually fun to have an object to aim at. The staff are really nice and have us a run through on how to throw.

They have nice wall graphics that you can take photos by and they played nice music well you are enjoying throwing a axe, sitting or stand around. This place has a really good vibe. Came with my husband for a date night this past Friday. We were supposed to come last month but were unable so Im glad we were able to this time despite the weather.We got there, found street parking immediately, and walked in. We were greeted, we signed waivers, and waited for our session to start. The employee who gave us our instructions was super nice and friendly and periodically asked if everyone was doing alright during our session.We were a party of 2 next to another party of 2 and near a party of 8 on 3 lanes. Its was a cozy atmosphere. They had waters, soda, Gatorade, and snacks for sale and they also had cool neon lights for photo backdrops.On the lanes, there were 4 different axes to choose from which was a fun variety. The bright targets were a nice touch. They also had board games available for people to play.When I went to buy some sodas, the employees were very nice to chat with.I hope I have the opportunity to come back with my son or my meetup group.Legitimately, our only issue was the people next to us who spent more than half the time taking photos in their lane and just slamming the axe into the target or carving into the wall or taking up space by throwing side by side. Why do people act like that?

I went with a good friend to AxeVentures one Monday for a little celebration and a little axe throwing. Neither of us had every been. Peter was there to greet us and showed us some basics to get started. He then came by to check on us and help us. Each time he came by, wed hit the target! His advice and corrections were spot on. And he displayed the perfect amount of attention - just enough without hovering. We had a fantastic time and we ware making plans to host parties there soon! Ill be recommending this to my friends and family.

Had a amazing time. Went there for my birthday celebration and had lots of fun. The staff was friendly and helped out when needed. We did a brief how to & safely tips before we got to throw axes own our own. I would definitely go back. On went on a regular day next time I will try the glow in the dark night. I will say it felt like a workout and had to buy waters and ended buying balloons and blood board for more of a challenge.

Its a fun experience, you for times 60min or 75mins. They provide the axes and have a briefing season with one of the ladies before you start, throw at own risk. The night time it becomes Lumo which is fun, they play a good selection of millennial music well atleast the night we went, it small spaces of 6 areas. This is a fun date night or friend fun gathering. No bathroom inside and hard to find parking.

What a delightful way to spend an afternoon! Axeventures has a cozy space on Telegraph, just far enough from downtown Berkeley to make parking feasible, packed with lanes for throwing axes.They have many other games to occupy their patrons, but I cannot imagine being distracted from the task of lodging an axe in the bullseye.Each lane comes with four axes: A medium-sized axe, a small-headed hatchet, a double-headed axe and a tiny axe, really a throwing knife with axe-like blades. Unless youre a lumberjack, I highly recommend the tiny axe, as its much easier to control and extract from the target without making mulch of it.The instruction at the start of our session was quick but thorough, and within a couple of throws, we were managing to get the axes to stick in the target.Our 90 minutes went by in a blur of changing weapons, retrieving thrown blades from the target (and occasionally digging them out of the mulched lane) and comparing footwork and blade position to where it ends up on the target. We didnt even get around to the laminated stack of suggested games for making it more interesting, even though there were just two of us.Highly recommended.

Came to celebrate a birthday and it was so fun! Staff is friendly, and will support you with demos and equipment replacements as needed. Really appreciated the different throwing axes to accommodate folks’ strength levels. 10/10 would recommend to anyone looking to relieve some stress or live their RPG fantasy.

First-time group with age ranges from 22 to 67. We had a great time. Quick setup and safety briefing and then we were assigned to a set of cages with four axes each. We paid extra for a set of knives and a big axe which was surprisingly easier to get to stick in the target.Over the course of our hour, which was more than enough, we were pleased to get better and better. Great setup with plenty of seating while we took a breather. Highly recommend.

AxeVentures meets the bare minimum of axe throwing. You will be handed a few different axes, youll be pointed toward a lane, and one of the associates will review safety measures with you. After that, youre on your own. The tables near the lanes do have some guidelines for how to play and a few blank sheets of paper to keep score or set up a tournament.I may have liked this experience better if I didnt already have expectations set (much) higher by other excellent companies. In the past, Ive gone to places where you have a staff member who stays with you, teaches you how to throw the axes and helps support your throws. Everyone can throw an axe into a wall with a few pointers, and it was disappointing to see so many of my friends struggle to throw, feel defeated because they couldnt get anything to stick, and then just sit at the table and watch the rest of the time.Other places Ive been to will also help facilitate a round robin and tournament. Theyll match people up, keep score, tease and encourage you, and overall make the experience incredibly memorable. AxeVentures does none of this.I would not recommend going to AxeVentures.

Wonderful way to spend an hour or so! We went as a group of six. After we signed waivers, the friendly coaching staff gave us about five minutes’ training covering safety rules and basic technique, then we started throwing axes at the targets. It wasnt very busy, so we had a lane each. Each lane is protected from the next with walls and strong wire fencing, so no danger of errant axes. Even following the coachs instructions most of our throws bounced off the target wall, with hardly any of our throws even making contact at the business end. But after a while we began to land our axes firmly in the target wall, a few at first then more often. We asked for some more coaching, and got some helpful pointers. After about 45 minutes all of us were throwing successfully into the target area most of the time. Four different types/weights of axe are available, each with its own technique. Soft drinks are available - it’s thirsty work! Lots of fun, I highly recommend Axe Adventures for solo, partner, group or team-building activity.

I tried axe throwing for my very first time with a group of friends at AxeVentures. They have at least 7 lanes. An employee gave us a demonstration and discussed safety. Each lane is equipped with axes of different types and weights. I didnt do very well during my first 40 minutes, but during my last half an hour, I did fairly well for a newbie. I had a great time and would go again.

Had a good time trying axe throwing for the first time. Went on a Friday night for their glow-in-the-dark session. They also had board games and a tic-tac-toe game that you could play with while you wait for your reservation. I liked how it was easy to learn and that they were playing different kinds of music. Ballons and stickers were also provided to make targets even more fun to play with. My only complaint was one of the boards was getting old, which made it difficult to play (axes wouldn’t stay). However the 75 minutes session was perfect for us to get the hang of things and enjoy a night of axe-throwing.

Whether axe-throwing is a great time depends heavily on whether the hosts are doing their jobs well, and the people at the store care about whether the patrons are having a good time. Great experience! We booked online a time slot the day before, and felt safe with all the measures in place. Before starting we got our temperature checked and everyone was wearing masks all the time.Throwing axes was challenging but after some help from the staff we actually could hit the target! Great fun. I went here with some coworkers and we had a great time. Each time you throw, you can choose between four axe types and figure out which one works for your style of throwing. I loved this location! The staff did an excellent job explaining safety and technique. We ended up booking for the glow in the dark session which was really cool. They had multiple different axes you could choose from that are set up in your lane, and you can add on throwing knives and other weapons to your session. They also had snacks and water sold there, which is nice because you will get a little tired after throwing for so long. The sessions are about an hour and 15 minutes and staff will come around to ask if you need help or a refresher on the different throwing techniques. Overall a really fun spot for dates, birthdays, and special occasions.

We had a lot of fun here. The atmosphere is pretty chill for a place you throw sharp objects in. The staff are very friendly and want you to enjoy yourself. They take time to talk with you and help you get your technique down so you can more consistently stick the ax into the target.I would highly recommend getting one of the optional targets. When you have a group and reserve an hour or more, its great fun to start out the first part just getting used to throwing the ax and getting your form down. Once you feel comfortable, pay the additional for a target. It adds a whole new dimension of fun. You really feel more focused and are encouraged to improve your aim and skill. Great fun, highly recommend it.

This was our company Holiday Party this year. We had about a dozen of us and spent over an hour throwing axes. We had a wide range of ages (~30 years) participating too. It was great. Many of us probably wouldnt have gone on our own, but as a group of co-workers we had a very good time. It turned out to be good for team building too. And we were all surprised at who amongst us were the best at throwing axes. Well now walk more softly around a couple of our co-workers. Two thumbs up!

Such a fun experience. I had always wanted to try axe throwing. When I got there I was a little intimidated (I have no aim and axes are generally heavy). Once I got out of my own head and did what they taught me to do, I had a blast! I even almost hit the bullseye a few times. Some axes were really lightweight. Really fun! The staff was friendly, and the coach was very thorough with her instructions. There were four axes per lane to choose from, each a different style and weight. I took my 12-year old son, who has wanted to learn to throw axes for some time. He had to use the lightest axe, and had some challenges, but he enjoyed himself and wants to do it again. The only negatives were the space was really cold, and the targets get chewed up pretty fast, so if youre not on a freshly replaced target, the bullseye can be hard to distinguish. Even so, it was a really good time. Well definitely be back!

This place a hole in the wall. I thought the lanes would be different but over all i was happy. I ended going with my family and loved the experience. They offered different types of blades and knives. Blood targets (they dont explode just leak blood), and had a glow in the dark time slots. Any extra things like knives and targets are an additional cost. I had trouble with the online website but Thomas (to-mas) and the young lady in the front were super nice. I will definitely be coming back with the my friends.

I booked a large group of 21 for my husband’s birthday. They were friendly and easy to coordinate with in advance of the event, and were very clear about their policies (must sign a waiver, must have closed toed shoes, must show up 10 minutes early). Because of the size of our party, we ended up getting the whole back room which was cool and felt more private. They had hand sanitizers available and gave a brief tutorial at the start, and came around for personal coaching during the event. Overall it was really fun as no one in the group had done it before. The one thing I would note is the location is in a busy area, so I’d definitely recommend showing up early to find parking if you are driving. Great idea for a large group and would go back again!

The staff was super helpful teaching us how to throw and checking in throughout the experience. It felt safe and fun the whole time through, which really helped ease my nerves and anxiety. They have several different sizes of ax which was also super helpful. I found throwing the smaller axes worked better for me, while my date found the bigger axes easier, so we ended up trading. Overall great experience.

We had a great time there. We were checked in promptly, signed our waiver and got started right away. We went on a Sat. afternoon and it was busy. Our coach Mike was nice, knowledgeable and friendly. This place is so cool....a hidden gem that we never even knew was there! The staff is super nice, helpful, available, even changes the music to your request. I took my hubby there for a birthday present, and he really enjoyed it. I even did too, and we threw those axes for an hour and a half! Wasnt even sore the next day, surprisingly. Somewhat like bowling and playing darts, you will work on technique in order to plant you ax on the correct rings for a successful game.There is bottled water/soft drinks for sale but you can bring in your own food. Staff is friendly and pretty organized they can accommodate large parties with advanced reservation.Restrooms are shared by other businesses in next door alley-way. Parking is metered street parking only. I hosted a birthday party here last weekend and all the guests had so much fun! Even those that were a little apprehensive to throw axes quickly became comfortable and were having fun also. The staff were super friendly and accommodating by teaching us how to throw the axe and even throwing a few rounds with us. They let us bring in our own food, drinks and decoration for the birthday party and even let us stay longer than our reserved time until the next group arrived. I would advise this for a date for people who are competitive, like the idea of throwing axes or are looking for something new to do. They take you through a tutorial after signing a waiver and give you an hour to throw. You can sometimes find coupons on Groupon for a discount and they honored ours even though it was expired. Great customer service and theyll help if youre having a hard time. I got the hang of it pretty quickly because of the instructor and I didnt know what to expect going into this. I attached a photo of my first throw and they have axes of different sizes and shapes (I think 4 different types).

I would not go back. Your location was super dirty and unorganized. The staff was nice enough but not super professional. For example when my group got there, we signed the waiver and just stood there and looked around while some of your people were off throwing axes with each other.. we didnt know what to do so I finally asked and they said to just wait a little bit until other groups arrived.The fact there was no air conditioning was also pretty bad.Our targets were heavily used and very hard to see. The little 7 point circles were almost impossible too see from behind the lines. The music was upbeat but the unrated versions of the some of the songs were a little intense to be there with my family..Overall this is definitely not the best axe throwing place, we actually left 30 minutes before our time was up because we were over it.good luck.

You get 3 types and one type nobody in my party could stick it consistently so it’s really like you get 2 kinds. Out of the 9 of us, only 3 had prior axe-throwing experience. I setup a team building activity through Peter. Great guy. He was very helpful and was prompt on all e-mail communications. During the event, he helped facilitate the group. Everyone had a blast! Only gripe (and I think Peter would agree), the POS system could use some improvement. Regardless, the customer service from Peter was excellent because he went out of his way to straighten out the payment details just to print out a usable expense receipt for me.

We had so much fun at AxeVentures for our girls night out. We got a great lesson in axe throwing, and one-on-one support as needed to perfect our abilities. The vibe was fun, with great music, and everyone is excited to go back again soon.

Went to Axe Ventures for the first time on Thursday. Had a great time. Was not too sure what to think initially, but it was a good experience. A good way to relieve stress, enjoy a chill atmosphere and the staff was friendly and helpful.

Awesome place. We walked in on a Wednesday afternoon with no appointment, but it looks like the place gets busy. Reasonable prices for a fun time. The staff is very helpful with learning how to throw.

This was sooo much fun. I thought it would be easy but it was hard until the instructor gave me a few pointers. He was awesome at explaining things. He gave us a few adjustments and they worked. I would recommend going and having a blast.

Love this place.Instructors are great . Always a fun time.No free parking near by so prepare to pay ah meters or get a few steps in .Also wear closed toed shoes . Fun activity but also a bit of a workout.

I went here for a joint bachelor and bachelorette party. The safety rules were clear, the waiver was straightforward, and the staff was professional. There has been an array of trendy sports popping up all of a sudden, from axe throwing to archery tag, etc. I kept my standards pretty low since I did not know what to expect, but was pleasantly surprised. Axe throwing really gives you this adrenaline rush especially if you have a lot of steam to blow off. The only thing that gave me a bit of trepidation was when the axes did not stick to the targets and rebounded towards the throwers. Luckily the axes did not go too far since the booths had enough netting and also I guess...physics. Definitely check this place out if you and your friends are looking for something interesting to try!

My girlfriend and I were eating at a Japanese restaurant nearby and decided to walk in. Very welcoming staff and informative on how to correctly throw the axes. It is not as easy as it looks but they made sure you felt confident in throwing the Axes. Had a great time and would come back the next time I am in the area, great for dates and hanging with friends. Brings out the competitive nature in you for sure!-Phillipe

Went here on a whim with 2 other friends of mine. Funny thing is I found them on yelp but wanted to post on here too. The staff was super helpful and we ended up buying a zombie target to throw our axe at. The cool part about that was it oozed colored goo when you hit it which was awesome! Highly recommend coming here to anyone thinking about it. JUST DO IT!!!

We threw axes the evening of 11Apr21. there were a total of 9 customers in the store during our session, so ample social distancing was in effect and everyone had face masks. Each station had hand sanitizer for use during the session. Throwing the axes was preceded by a short safety talk and tutorial. We had a great time throwing three different types of axes/hatchets. Kind of wish they had a restroom, though.

Super fun place. Proper social distancing, and awesome music (I found out the Spotify playlist is called Axe and Chill!). And they had instructors come around and help with our throws which was a big help! Sam helped us (and another, but I didnt catch their name, sorry!) and even encouraged us to try some heavier axes with 2 handed throws and that was awesome too. Highly recommend to everyone, taking all my friends again!
