The instructors were very helpful. This was a new adventure for my group. We thought this was going to be difficult and yes it take some practice. But after a short while we were throwing with some repeatability, accuracy and most of all safely. They had many types of axes and hatchetts. The new person working there was a lot of fun and helped make it safe as well.

Awesome experience! Went on a weekday night and the two of us each had our own throwing lane. The instruction and tips were great (thanks Austin!) to get us started. Learned to throw 4 different types of axes. Also had a few fun games to play! An hour and a half flew by! Well be back!

I came in Friday evening and I received a very warm welcome by Austin. It was my first time ever axe throwing. Austin used his coaching abilities and safety procedures. He is very knowledgeable and taught me some very valuable skills. With the experience I had at axeventures with Austin I would HIGHLY recommend any of my professional co-workers, family as well as friends to experience axeventures of Oceanside CA, I would highly recommend Austin as a facilitator. Due to his experience, I highly recommend Austin as facilitator because of his outstanding skills, and his focus, on following all safety procedures. This was an amazing experience. Great time...group of 13 for a 57th birthday, and we were unsure of the experience, but it is addictive. Once you start to throw and figure it out, then you want to start throwing with better and better accuracy. Lots of fun for all of us!

In a great part of town where you can get food and drinks afterwards. The instructors \ employees get you started and its a lot easier than I thought getting started. Never thrown an axe before and after an hour we were playing games and competing with each other with several bullseyes on the board

My daughters and I spotted this place on our way to lunch and decided to look into it on the way back. I’m glad we did! It was a blast! The coaches were great! Very friendly and outgoing and set a great tone for the whole experience. We all got the hang of it pretty quick and we’re hooting and hollering having a great time the whole time we were there! If you’re looking for something different and fun, give them a try. Would make a fun date night add on as well!

Was visiting from out of town. Just walked in to say hello as I throw axes out of state. No visible staff, the few people that were there throwing looked at me like I was an alien. I said hi, I’m just looking to talk to a staff person but no response. People throwing axes etc with no visible instruction. After waiting some time I gave up and left.

Very affordable, the staff was incredibly kind. our instructor was very nice and when I could not get an axe to stick on the wall for the life of me, the instructor gave me some extra pointers and I was finally able to do it 😂 The ambiance is great and this is great to do with friends, as a couple, or even a larger group!

This was a fun experience but it’s over priced. The coach was nice but she kind of just sat and watched everyone while multitasking on her phone (she was nice, I’m not complaining about her). Unless pricing comes down I don’t think I’d return, unfortunately. Even a 20 percent discount still doesn’t make it worth it. There’s an almost $15 fee which bring the pricing back up.

My friends and I had a good time throwing axes. Wish they had beer though, which may not be a great idea with axes involved. The facility is small and loud, and there’s nothing else to do besides throw axes.

This place was absolutely amazing! The atmosphere was great! Our coach, Kay, did a great job explaining and demonstrating the rules, games, and proper techniques needed to get the axes to stick without injuring ourselves. We were well taken care of. Would definitely recommend this place for anyone wanting to give axe throwing a try! Super therapeutic! I WILL be returning!

My boyfriend and I decided to try something new for our anniversary and we had so much fun! We do our best to be as safe as possible during the pandemic, and it was nice to see the signs encouraging social distancing and masks. We were the first booking on a Thursday afternoon so we had the entire place to ourselves which was great. I was impressed with the helpfulness of the coaches and how friendly and welcoming they were. They truly helped me get rid of my nerves as I was pretty nervous (clumsy person handling an axe doesnt sound like a recipe for success). We will definitely recommend to our friends and come back again. We also enjoyed the music and the overall atmosphere.

This place was AMAZING! I took my boyfriend for his birthday and the coach was so sweet when we told her it was his birthday. We opted for the glow in the dark night, which I highly recommend. The place is clean and open, making it easy to enjoy while still respecting COVID precautions. The coach was really good at explaining how to throw the axe and making me feel comfortable. Axe throwing is not really my thing, this was all for my man, but this place was incredibly fun and made it easy to have a good time. Will definitely be back!

Our firm held a group event recently and really enjoyed the experience. Throwing axes really brought out the team building atmosphere, but also the competitive side of participants. Austin was a great coach and we really enjoyed our time together as a team.

First, I’d like to thank them for their service to our country. Absolutely love seeing veterans having businesses and opportunities after their service. Second, this place was amazing, and so much fun. My wife surprised me for my birthday and it was a blast. The guys there were super laid back, helped with technique and even brought out additional styles of axes to throw. Really enjoyed the atmosphere, the music and the overall vibe. Fun for friends or family. I really like the coaches Cory and Bre. I will definitely keep bringing friends when they visit. During the week it is not too busy so just walking in on a whim is fine. The weekends seem a lot busier so I would recommend reserving ahead for a weekend time slot.We recently took our scout troop there and had 15 boys throwing. They had a really great time!

This place is bare bones axe throwing! No frills down and dirty end of days zombie apocalypse training so to speak. Xavier was our coach and not only is he knowledgeable about safety when throwing or spectating he throws with intention. Xavier gave us instructions let us throw for awhile and then came back to check on us, evaluate our form and gave very positive instruction that immediately made us both drastically improve our throwing accuracy. We had a great time! It was my wife and I and our first time. 5 Stars ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Our family had so much fun throwing axes! We were visiting Oside from out of town and looking for something new to try when we came across AxeVentures. It was a great experience, and we had great help from the employee. She gave us a quick lesson and then let us play, stopping in to check on us and to offer suggestions for better throws. Took and friend from out of town here and we had a wonderful time! The employee was super helpful with tips for better throwing and patient. It was a bit hot in the building bc of moving around and the air wasnt so strong but otherwise it was a great place and the options of axes and sharp things to throw were pretty varied. Got confirmation from an employee that they’d honor a Groupon on the day we wanted to attend, but when we got there the manager said he had no note or indication of this conversation and wouldn’t let us play until we paid full price. Stuck between a rock and a hard place, I gave in as it was my brother’s birthday. Got short changed on the time too. Was supposed to get 70 min and he cut us off at under 55. He might have been having a rough day, he was rude and short, and we left with an awful taste in our mouthes. Big bummer, definitely won’t be going back.

So much fun and great therapy! The young ladies that work there walk you through every step of how to throw and were very friendly. We had so much fun we didn’t want to leave and my fiancé got to throw for free on his birthday! Plenty of seating while you wait and enjoy watching others. Can’t wait to go again. We had a wonderful time there. One of the workers was quite smug in the way he spoke to us, but I think he realized that and brought us some good/cool additional axes to throw. Super fun experience! Bought a groupon for four people, and we booked a lane but was able to walk-in an hour before our scheduled time and luckily there was an open lane. After practicing, we played two of the games on their game cards. It was a blast and highly recommended.

Four of us of various ages (adults) went to AxeVentures in Oceanside.The staff was very helpful in setting up the appointment, making sure my groupon would work for a Monday at 2:30 PM, patiently coaching us in proper throwing techniques as we were first timers, recommending Swamis next door for great food, and telling us where to park. They are awesomely located in downtown Oceanside so after you’re done if you want to do something else you’re already in the right location. Had such a great time! Corey was a very good instructor, made it easy to understand and didnt take up too much time going through the steps of how to throw. I went with my best friend and at first I really thought, so we just throw this for 75 mins? But the time flew by and I wouldve done it longer if I could! I really enjoyed it and want to bring back more friends! Parking can be a little tricky but theres a structure around the corner for the civic center thats free and was less than a 5 min walk.See you guys again soon!

Went with my brother there was one other group there so social distancing was easy. We had a ton of run with the appointment being a little over an hour it was plenty of time to throw as many aces as we wanted. Was also reasonably priced for the experience, so an incredibly worth while experience.

If youre looking for a good time then this is it. My wife and I spent an hour here after grabbing some lunch and we had a blast. The staff was friendly and extremely helpful. The staff showed us the techniques and tweaked our form or distance from the target until we were throwing like we knew what we were doing. Definitely recommend this experience.

I am giving this a low score based on the experience at the facility - safety, lack of supervision/fun games and condition of the facility (hot!).Chris is very nice and accommodated changing reservation details for my childrens birthday outing.We have participating in axe throwing in other locations and this was NOT the same experience.Most importantly, it did not feel safe or supported.I hosted 15 eleven year olds and was put in the back of the space away from the front desk and any supervision. We were given a five minute overview that included minimal examples of proper throwing technique (2 throws) and then left on our own.The coaches (and I use that term lightly since they were not actively engaged in technique or safety) made an occasional appearance from time to time but did not help us in any way.I asked why the coaches werent helping us and was told that they were understaffed. I dont understand this as there were two people working - and both stayed at the front register.I was also shocked that kids/people are permitted to walk in the neighboring throwing lane when another participant in throwing an axe -- especially since we even had three instances where the axes got stuck in the adjacent fencing.It was HOT inside and the adults on-site were incredible STRESSED out throughout the entire time.I thought wed be led through games, etc to make this fun-- instead we were left to manage it ourselves and try to keep them safe.This was an event for my twins birthdays and I was extremely grateful when we left without an injury. We tried our best to keep them engaged with games but it was tough as kids got frustrated when they werent able to master the throwing technique, etc...I reached out to the company over a week ago and received a message that they take my comments into account and talk to our coaches since they are instructed to pay extra attention and spend more time to younger participants.

My brothers came in from out of town, so for some fun we went to AxeVentures. We had some issues reserving online because we tried booking within an hour of purchasing a GroupOn. No worries though, when we spoke with Bree on the phone she was incredibly competent and knew exactly what the issue was and worked around it without batting an eye. When we arrived Bree was as pleasant in person as on the phone. After some brief instruction from Coach Will (another competent employee) off we went throwing axes (I call them hatchets). It was great fun and using the instruction given all of us, we were very successful in throwing axes into the designated wall. It was safe (as long as youre not an idiot) and a lot of fun. We really enjoyed ourselves. Kudos to AxeVentures in Oceanside especially Bree and Will!

We had a group of 10 participate (ages 12-72) in our AxeVentures fun. I, as a Grandma in my 70s, thought Id just sit and watch the younger generation enjoy themselves. I did change my mind and gave it a go... and really had a great time. Didnt do very well; but enjoyed my attempts. Everyone had a great experience and Id definitely recommend it anyone who wants a different and fun adventure.

I honestly didn’t think throwing axes at the wall would be fun for an hour and a half, but coming here for my bachelor party was a definite highlight of the trip. It was very fun to get into the games and fairly challenging to get the axe to hit the bullseye. The staff were all great and gave us tips to how to throw the axe accurately. Very fun experience, will definitely do it again in the future!

Disclaimer... I almost never leave a bad review and I am not a complainer, but I am hoping the owners will see this and make some changes. First of all, this is an excellent family friendly activity. I went with my 16 and 8 year old boys a couple weeks ago and had a great time. So much so, that we bought multiple Groupons as gifts for friends since we are Oceanside locals. Unfortunately due to poor management, it is unlikely we will return. I attempted to make another reservation today so my father in law and boys could go, but was refused service by the manager Bree. My father-in-law came to town for this event. He is spending time with my boys who lost their father 4 months ago and wanted to do a guy activity together. Bree initially was very unwelcoming in making the reservation. She made me aware I would need to pay in advance to make the reservation, I simple asked that she apply the 20% discount I had been given at our prior throwing session (these codes are literally on the counter accessible to anyone directly in front of the person making the reservation), she refused to do so, claiming she would get in trouble. I admitly got frustrated but was in no way derogatory or rude, I said fine, Ill just come in and take care of the reservation in person and hung up. After driving directly there from across town to get the discount code, she refused to give us a reservation because she felt I was rude on the phone and she didnt want to coach my family, even though I wasnt partaking in the session. I cannot believe that she could actually be a manager. She has no ability to deal effectively with customers. How are you going to turn away kids during Christmas who just lost their dad? I do hope that the owners take this person out of a management role as soon as possible. She is extremely unprofessional and it is unfortunate that she is causing this business to lose customers...customers that planned on being regulars at that.

We knew parking was scarce in that area, so we went to the public lot a few blocks over. Ive been to another axe-throwing business before, and had a much better time. We were given 3 minutes of demonstration up front before being turned loose on our lanes for an hour on our own. (We did have one observed throw each by the coach, one!) The lady minding the store wasnt even watching us for the majority of the time, and was up front talking to someone for most of the hour.The guy in the next lane was throwing axes underhanded, a serious safety issue and risk. Our coach didnt notice and didnt say anything. In my previous experience we were taught to throw both one- and two-handed. After throwing two-handed for about 10 minutes, the coach finally noticed and just yelled from behind the counter, No two-handed throws!.Throwing axes is fun, but its much better when the coach is actually engaged. When Ive been before the coach actually sat with you and gave you advice on how to throw (it can be hard to get axes to stick) and ran games for you for the full hour. Itd be nice if the coach paid attention to what is going on in the lanes.I wouldnt come back to this location.

Purchased a Groupon to give Axe Ventures a try. We showed up about thirty minutes early and the lanes were all available, so we were allowed to start early. Nick gave us the basic safety rules and a few tips on technique and allowed us to begin. He let us take a few shots, then gave us a little more instruction, resulting in an immediate hit on the target, followed by a bulls-eye. Much like golf, the really good shots we’re few and far between for us beginners, but it was so enjoyable that we really didn’t worry about the many, many throws that clattered off the floor. We watched other groups come in and find the same enjoyment we had, taking selfies with the odd bulls-eye and excitedly discussing rotation and throwing positions.I would highly recommend giving Ave Ventures a visit and throwing a few hatchets. The satisfaction of the deep thunk you hear as you hit that first target right in the center will bring you back for more.

All of the axes provided are inconsistent sizes/shapes aswell as dull which if you have thrown axes at other places you may find this to be extremely fustrating. This was given to my wife and I as a gift for christmas. We thought this is going to be a long hour but time flew by. We had a blast and really enjoyed the experience. Recommend trying it out for sure.

Friendly staff and excellent coaching for first timers. No food or drinks served inside so make sure you take care of that before or after. Also great place to take a date.

The space is small, and perfect for throwing. the cost is lower than some of the other local spots, and I am absolutely over the moon for their axes. I love this place, and will for sure be going back.

I spent an hour with my friends hucking an axe and it was pretty cool. I had never done this before and had no idea what to expect. It wasnt that hard if you follow the fundamentals. Before long we were playing games. Ill be back for more!!

First time This is a review for the AxeVentures site in North Park...My son-in-law and I loved it! Highly recommend it, Juan was a great instructor.
