We have just experienced an outstanding furnace installation through Atlas. Nick was thorough in his evaluation of what was needed. That worked seemed seamless. Joe and Justin were the installers. They were here 3 days. They worked between two rooms, doing the tasks efficiently, neatly, professionally and with wonderfulhumor. I thoroughly enjoyed the wholeprocess. Scott checked in a couple times which I appreciated. Kudos to you all!

We were in need of a furnace replacement and I had heard good things about Atlas -- I am very glad that I went with them! Everyone that I worked with at the company was top notch, from the initial sales technician to the leader of the crew putting the system in place as well as the person who did the walkthrough and follow-up at the end. They provided us a competitive quote, did the work on time, and were very communicative and helpful throughout. I highly recommend working with them if you have HVAC needs!

I had a great experience w/Atlas heating and Eric, the technician who came to my house. They were very communicative in terms of confirming the time of arrival- got a phone call prior to arrival to confirm which was incredibly helpful. Eric was very knowledgeable, competent and professional. Overall, I would definitely use them again if we have need to.

Service folks were super knowledgeable and staff is really friendly and supportive. There was a non-intentional miscommunication on the repair estimate call which resulted in a bad experience for me (see original review below). Atlas was super prompt in taking responsibility which is really awesome.I will update to 5 stars from 2 as soon as I receive the refund for the service call fee. The folks at Atlas are really great and I would recommend!-----I was told a site visit for a furnace repair was going to be 120 and they charged me 220?!?! 120 was apparently just to show up and 100 was for their hourly rate. Seems like something they could have told me before I agreed to this. To make matters worse, I only agreed to getting the estimate which was a second opinion because they said the first folks quoted me way too much. The quote from atlas ended up being more than the original one I had. I definitely would not have agreed to any of this if they had given me accurate information to begin with.I cant stand being given inconsistent information and didnt feel confident the repair wasnt going to randomly cost twice as much as they quoted me so I ended up not moving forward with Atlas. Shame, because the folks seemed knowledgeable and friendly.I trust this was an honest mistake and I hate to be giving a 2 star review to what Im sure is otherwise a great business, but I was also basically scammed out of 220.I do recommend Atlas, just make sure you get a clear and accountable answer from them on what their prices will be!

My heating system failed to turn on so I called Atlas. In short order the Atlas rep recognized that the furnace needed a “reboot” which he performed. He was very thorough and professional. I highly recommend!

I rent a one hundred year old bungalow that has 60 year old gas furnace. I requested two visits from Atlas (Oakland); the first for an estimate to replace with electric. The estimator arrived on-time and provided a thorough examination of this houses needs. All of it made sense to me, and I am not mechanical at all. Since the house may be sold in a few years, the landlord asked for an estimate for repair, the second visit. My second estimator was equally thorough and explained what the possible problems could be -- fortunately, the worst possibilities werent realized. Eric replaced a few parts while I left for work. I came home to a working furnace that I expect will work well until my landlord sells. Everyone at Atlas is professional, flexible, helpful and accurate. I highly recommend Atlas!

Atlas were amazing! Get this--and I wont bore you with the details... One of their competitors came by and told me I needed to replace all of my air ducts as a solution to my heating issues. Then they quoted me for $12,000! I was rightfully appalled. So, I reached out to Atlas to get their opinion. They came by and fixed everything for $300. My heater has never performed so efficiently than it does now. Im amazed.

Our 20 year old gas heater needed a check-up and Atlas was available and at the right price. Our technician, Carlos, was friendly and efficient, finding a part that had broken and before fixing, it consulted with me about the part price and its function in the heater. He also did an inspection of all our ducts, intake filter and inside vents. We signed up for an inspection/tune-up a year from now that was offered at a reduced price because it was so easy. Nice work, Atlas!!

The repairman installed a new Ecobee smart thermostat which we bought at Apple. He also serviced our HVAC. He had to install a C wire and was very skilled at snaking the wire inside the wall from underneath our house. He did a very good job with everything and our furnace now works quite well.

Atlas replaced my old floor heater with a central pushed-air heater at a condo of ours. It was a very difficult job due to no previously existing access to the crawlspace and due to the VERY limited space to work underneath our apartment. They did an incredible job installing our new central heating system, including testing it to ensure proper heat distribution throughout our apartment unit. I appreciated their experience, guidance and advice along the way, and I would highly recommend them to others.

Atlas just replaced our 32-yr-old furnace (originally it was state-of-the-art) with a modern unit that is an amazing improvement in quiet and ability to maintain the requested temperature to an exact degree. The job was done in half a day from removing the old unit to completing installation and careful testing. Cost was less than some other bids and came with the attentive service from Atlas that other reviewers have also described and seems to be central to the companys culture. It was a pleasure to interact with the installers (patient with my questions) and with every person I encountered at Atlas Heating.We were planning replacement for a while, but suddenly our old unit died completely so we begged for an early install date. There was an understandable miscommunication about the exact date, but to accommodate us, supervisor Kevin jumped in, changed from business clothes to overalls and with a sharp guy named Chris handled the job much sooner than we could have expected.A furnace is a long-term appliance and new designs are highly complex devices, so reliable warranty service is even more important than what brand or model you buy. The way Atlas performs and the way they treat customers reflects the values of the Tuck family who have operated this business since 1908. I feel confident that Atlas will be in business and stand behind their work for as long as I need.

Totally satisfied with my furnace inspection. The technician (sadly whose name I don’t recall) was timely thorough and personable. He assured me the furnace was in great condition and filter was clean. I asked him a question about a fan and he said there was nothing wrong with the fan. It was clean and working. I switched companies this year because my previous company tried to upsell me on an ann additional service apparently not needed. Very happy I switched and made arrangements for atlas to come next year.

We chose Atlas to replace our aging furnace and air conditioner with a hybrid gas furnace/heat pump air conditioner after requesting a few estimates. The team at Atlas were helpful every step of the way. Aaron, the estimator gave us straight-forward information that helped us decide what we needed and wanted. Scott helped us with scheduling, and the installers, Ryan, Guillermo, and the Erics were efficient, neat, and friendly. Ian provided a quick, expert fix when there was a glitch in communication between the heat pump and the control board. Follow up:Changing my rating from low to high.Earlier I wrote:Technician did not show up. I called two weeks ago to schedule maintenance. I received a call the day before confirming my time. I called the morning of the appointment to confirm. And despite all that, no one showed up. I called the company and was told that I wasnt in their schedule. How could that be when THEY called me to confirm on the day prior? Instead of going to the office, I sat at home for the 4-hour window only to have no-show. Very disappointed.Update:The companys owner investigated the situation and called me back promptly and provided a thorough report--no excuses made--of what transpired. She insisted on making sure I received top notch service. This is what professionalism means. You hold your company/team accountable for its mistakes. You reach out to apologize and make sure your customer understands that the failing was unacceptable. You make right. Atlas has done that to its high credit.

My heater wouldnt turn on over the New Years weekend, so I called Atlas January 2. Lisa got back to me and scheduled service technician Chris to come out to troubleshoot January 3. Chris quickly located the problem and fortunately had the replacement part in his truck. Chris is so experienced, he had the heater up and running in about an hour.Bob( Atlas owner), came by and then took time to help me to locate the source of the flooding, then brainstormed possible solutions to prevent future flooding.The people at Atlas are friendly, helpful, and take care of business. Chris from Atlas Heating did a great job repairing my furnace after it had water damage from a storm. Where other companies were talking about replacing the whole furnace (which we put in 20 years ago and should be viable for a while, one would hope) for $8000 to $10,000, Chris diagnosed which parts that replacing, and the repairs came in around $2000. Hooray for honest, hard-working repairmen who are not trying to squeeze every possible dollar out of every job!

Our heater stopped working after Thanksgiving and they were quick to send Aaron out to take a look - he did a great job of explaining what was going on with our older heater and talking us through our options. The Tech was on time, very professional and friendly. He explained every step he was taking to assess the problem and then every step and parts needed to repair. Our AC did need a capacitor and another part, both of which the tech had on his truck. He was there and done in under 2 hours. Very reasonable price, especially for the quality of service and time. Our 35-year-old heater gave up the ghost and because Atlas had installed it, we asked them to come see what was the issue. It had developed a terminal problem that was making it dangerous as well to continue using it. The technician showed us what had broken and in no uncertain terms let us know we needed to replace it. This was during a pretty tough cold snap, so we were in a bind, disappointed, and freezing. But I never once doubted the sincerity and truth of their diagnosis and despite the fact that the time estimated for replacement seemed long at first, it was clear to us that they were doing the right thing in terms of procuring and installing the machine. And it was also became clear to us that heaters are now very complex entities with lots of computer aided functions. Atlas came when they said they would and quickly (at least to me) installed the new heater. BUT IT WOULD NOT fire up and had the initial team baffled as to the cause. To make this long story shorter, it turned out that a computer board part was failing. Then, to all of our dismay, the replacement was also defective and we were still freezing. Ultimately, they were inventive enough to simply borrow the part from another heater in their inventory--putting the customer first. I do not know anything about this crucial appliance in our house, but i never had any indication of hesitancy or remorse or dishonesty regarding their efforts to solve our problem. Needless to say, the appliance was expensive, but our money was well-spent and i give the highest of recommendation for you to use Atlas should you have a similar issue.

I called Atlas on a recommendation. Chris called to let me know when to anticipate his arrival which was great. He came to the door masked up which was awesome. He looked everything over, listened to what I had to say and explained things to me. He was very professional but at the same time friendly. They returned a few days later to fix the issue (they didnt have the item needed when they first visited). I had the same experience and Chris was sent out again since he knew the issue. I learned about Atlas from online research as well as trusted friends that had work done on their homes. I was going to be very particular given the investment of the project. Word of mouth was absolutely on point here. I was incredibly happy with the work done on my heat pump install. Atlas has an incredibly responsive team from their professional office managers to knowledgeable project manager and finally the key piece to me: the installation crew.My home is on a steep slope, with a long narrow staircase leading to the yard, and it has a small crawl space. This wasn’t going to be an easy install. But they made it work and were thoughtful with the uniqueness of the space. Nick Reno did our initial assessment and assured us he’s seen all types of configurations and would treat my home like his own and considered aesthetics along with the nut and bolts. They were respectful of covid protocols without me having to ask. They also left the work site spotless.Re cost: Atlas was comparable to the other bid I received. What tipped my decision to go with them was their warm professionalism and attention to detail.Would definitely recommend them to family and friends.

We had Atlas install proper wiring for a Nest thermostat. The technician fixed the issue we were having with wiring quickly and efficiently. He also performed some maintenance on our furnace that had been recommended by our home inspector. The company communicated well with us, and the prices were reasonable. We did an over two year restoration and remodel of our home. Atlas was our HVAC contractor for our heating and cooling. They designed, engineered, fabricated and reworked our entire heating system for better performance. Two zones were created for better energy usage. Then air conditioning was installed. All of the work is perfect and they balanced the system for maximum efficiency. Beautiful work. I highly recommend Atlas to anyone. They should always be your first call.

Our heater stopped working during the shelter in place and they came the next day. The technician spent an efficient amount of time debugging the issue and explaining it to me. We decided to get a new furnace since it was over 20 years old. They gave us space heaters until they could put it in.They also did a great job with the installation, finishing just before my toddler’s nap. Another technician came to put an extra wire in for our smart thermostat and also did a great job. Definitely recommend. Available, professional, honest, good communicators. They didn’t seem rushed which many contractors can seem these days.

Just when the mercury started to drop for the holiday season our furnace went on the fritz (again). Last February I had similar issues with the furnace and Atlas performed the repairs. This time they responded to my service call and had a technician out the same day. Ray was awesome. He was courteous and professional and identified the root cause (wiring of our Nest Thermostat). He called the office and explained the repeat issue and got Atlas to wave the repair charges due to incomplete solution on the previous service call. I was very pleased all around.

They made it easy and were so clean and careful with the project it was a pleasure working with them. They are not the cheapest out there, but they are not the most expensive either and they do exactly what they say they will do when they say they will do it. We just put in a new York furnace with Atlas, and every aspect of the experience was terrific. The estimator, Keith, had tremendous knowledge about every aspect of heating systems, and patiently walked us through the choices. The installers were terrific: fast, neat, friendly. Most important, we liked Atlas because they are local and unionized, and have been around forever. We figured wed have to pay a premium. Atlas recently replaced my old furnace and ductwork in my home. The old furnace was 34 years old and had a cracked heat exchanger, among other issues, totally unsalvageable and needed to be replaced. The ducts were in poor shape as well with loose and dirty insulation drooping down in the crawl space beneath my home.I brought a few companies out to give estimates, including the home warranty company’s vendor, which would have been mostly covered. Atlas had the best online reviews, and they did a very thorough job, starting with the estimate. Zack Turner built a thermal model of my home, with the layout, dimensions, and materials, in his computer so he could make the best recommendation possible for the system that I would need. Zack was very knowledgeable, friendly, answered all of my questions and gave me an estimate on the spot.I decided to go with Atlas because the consultation went so well and they had the best reviews. Even though the home warranty company would have covered most of my costs if I used another vendor, that company had terrible reviews, horror stories on Yelp, and lied to me about the cost of permits going up, which I confirmed was not true with Oakland permit dept. Because of that, I chose Atlas for their superior reputation, and they worked within my budget, and promised no hassles.Once I agreed to move forward, Atlas sent Zack and Kevin out for a pre-site review. I liked Kevin too, because you could tell he was really experienced, knew what he was doing, and he could explain everything in very direct and simple terms. Kevin even offered to hang my new furnace up and out of the way, unlike my old unit which was in the center of the crawl space, and made it a tangled mess of wires, ducting, and gas lines. Kevin’s recommendation made me really happy because it would help me clear and reorganize the crawl space in the long run and put the system in a dry, secure, space, and out of my way.The installation team was a couple of young guys who did a really great job. I had been using another Bay Area hating & cooling company to trouble shoot my old furnace and it seemed like they never bothered to go beyond the most surface level inspection. My 13 year old central heater quit working at the beginning of our cold spell a couple of days before Presidents Day and my 2 years old grandchilds holiday weekend stay. I use to use this company but after a bad experience I stop but I just called them today again to give them another chance. When I called a lady answered Named Allison who took my information, then left me on hold for long period of time then when she would get back on the phone she would ask me the same info all over. Then she wanted a credit card number up front for payment before the work. Later on on this day I called back and canceled the appointment as I see they are still a very messy company to deal with.

We called for a routine pre-heating season tune-up on our 14 year old furnace and ducts. Paul S. came out on time and did a thorough check of the ducts, vents, registers, furnace and filters. He also uncovered a problem with a connection of one of the ducts. He was careful to inform me of what was needed to bring our system into top functioning condition and to explain how to mitigate future costs of routine tune-ups.
