First time going to Ascent Hearing Center and it was amazing. I was welcomed by the doctor at the exact time my appointment was set. No waiting which was great. The doctor took the time to listen to my concerns and then proceeded to perform a series of four different tests to test my hearing and visual examination of the ear canals. This included the normal series of sounds at varying tones but also included speech clarity which I found very beneficial. It was the most thorough hearing tests I have ever had. The doctor explained how each ear reacted to the tests and how certain vowels fall into different hearing ranges and how words with those vowels may not be easily recognized based on the results of my tests. He did recommend a certain type of hearing aid, but there is no pressure to get one. The staff are very friendly and helpful. They are currently checking with my insurance to see what is covered before moving forward. I would highly recommend this doctor.

I took my 3 year old son to get his hearing and ears checked out and from stepping foot inside the front desk gal was so sweet and welcoming. The Doctor was super cool, laid back and amazing to my son. I would definitely recomenzó this place hands down! Amazing Job you all. 🩷

When we arrived, the staff greeted us warmly. Doctor Malan was incredibly understanding and cool, especially with our 3-year-old son. He quickly identified issues that an urgent care doctor had missed just 2-3 days earlier. We were immensely grateful to God that we followed through with our decision to come all the way from Ventura to Simi Valley that day, even though we had initially considered cancelling.

We came in for a newborn hearing exam. Ascent was one of the few locations in the county willing and able to perform the test on my 2 month old. Dr. Malan was so kind and patient with me and my baby. He made me feel very comfortable and he was professional while I nursed her to keep her quiet during the test. We had a great experience and I would highly recommend him and his practice.

Dr. Malan is patient and a great listener. He take the time to listen to my 90 year old mother and provides the needed treatment to help her hear. His staff is very nice and when my mom needs to go in for adjustments, they make every effort to schedule an appointment quickly.

I had sent an email asking for an appointment and got a phone call back that I missed. Since my hearing aids didnt work and I couldnt hear on the phone, I decided to go in person to make the appointment. I came in and was with the reception staff making my appointment when Dr. Malan appeared. He asked if I had my hearing aids with me. He looked at them and told me to wait a moment. He disappeared for about 3 minutes and came back with my hearing aids now operational. He had solved the problem that a couple of other audiologists had not. He certainly won a customer. Everyone was very nice.

Wow. Great team, friendly. My testing was explained every single step, and then the conclusion is graphed on a computer screen. My hearing aids will cover what I need them to do and not interfere with what I still hear well. I could not be happier about this excellent business!!Months later I mentioned that my hearing aids were just the tiniest bit loose in my ears. Dr. Malan had custom inserts made and I am ECSTATIC!!! The BEST Dr on the planet!!!

Great service. Everyone is soooo nice. We had bought a hearing aid for my mom about 3 years ago from Dr. Malan. My mom has been in a home for almost 2 years. The home lost her hearing aid in January. They have to replace it because it was their fault. They said it would take 2-3 weeks to get a new one. Went to Dr Malan. and told him what happened. He ordered the new one for her right away and put a rush on it. He called 3 days later when the new one came in. No extra charge for the rush. He just wanted her to get it ASAP so she could hear.

Im not happy with this doctor or its service at all. I was referred by the regional center for my daughter. So in that saying, Im assuming they get a lot of kids on the spectrum. This doctor wasnt patient at all with my kid. I get my daughter was crying alot but shes autistic and I told him that . He refused the test on my daughter. Then asked if she had a pediatrician. I told him she has a general family doctor. And he insisted that she go to a pediatrician to get her ears checked out. Whatever, I was done at this point. He said I would have to come back. Why would I come back if hes going to refuse my daughter again.

Very clean and proficient office. Staff is friendly, intelligent and efficient. Dr. John Malan was patient and friendly; he understood my needs for specialized hearing aides for musicians. His testing process is thorough and precise. I liked the way he showed me my hearing frequency via a graph on a large monitor and he also showed me a visual of the inside of my ears as he looked inside them with his scope. This office seems to have their act together. They seem to know how to treat their patients. I was told there is a new hearing aide that just came on the market in the last 2-3 days that might work perfectly for me. Dr. Malan said that they would check my insurance provisions and get back to me with some options in the next few days. Can’t beat that!

I had such an amazing experience at Accent Hearing today! They are so friendly and kind while also keeping up with professionalism. The facility is extremely clean and well organized. We have been taking our daughter to Dr. Malan for a few months now. Our daughter is almost two years old and has two hearing aids. There have been a few occasions when our older two sons have had to go to her appointments. Everyone in the office has always been so kind and accommodating. Even the other patients are very friendly, which sometimes happens in places where everyone feels comfortable and welcome. It is a very unique atmosphere. It is always so calming and positive. We have a very difficult schedule to work with and we have never had any problems with scheduling. We went to an office in Burbank before that did not feel that way and it was a longer drive. Finding Dr. Malan and his staff has been like a dream come true. I no longer dread taking my daughter in for new ear molds or even just calling to make an appointment. My daughter is getting what she needs and I could not be happier! I would definitely recommend this office to anyone seeking a kind, compassionate, highly-skilled audiologist! I just wish other medical offices could be so professionally courteous.

I took my 3 year old son in for a hearing test as he is having trouble with his speech so we are ruling out possibilities. He is very shy and until he knows people he is hesitant to interact sometimes. My son did not take to the doctor at all and I tried to have him pay attention and respond to his direction. Well I guess the doctor was irritated so instead of being calm he opened the sound proof room door and screamed “come on Luke stop wasting my time!” Unbelievable the lack of compassion the doctor had. And I am sure the reason my son wouldn’t respond was because he could sense the doctor was not very nice. I will not be coming back!! Do not bring your children here!!!!

I was having trouble hearing out of my left ear, I called and booked an appointment. The staff was very friendly and the Dr. was professional and knowledgeable. I visited Dr. John Malan today for my 2 year old daughter. Our primary doctor was concerned she may have delayed speech due to hearing loss. We made an appointment a few days ago with Linda who took very good care of us and explained the appointment procedures. Today was such a great experience. Dr. Malan was great with my daughter, so patient, genuine, and kind. He let the appointment be at her own pace and changed tests around her capability. His office is very clean and comfortable. I would recommend him to all ages and gladly return if need be.

This hearing center is the best we have been to. My dad has been to several due to his severe heating loss. They got him in within a reasonable amount of time, and the doctor was extremely patient and thorough with him. Their products are great quality, and they have a trial period since they understand that it is hard to get the perfect hearing aid in the first shot sometimes. The facility is clean and staff are extremely nice and patient. I can’t recommend this place enough.

Dr Malan and his staff are outstanding. The doctor always explains what he is checking and how we can overcome my hearing loss. He has provided me with hearing aids that allow me to talk on the phone, listen to music, track my exercise, track how much I use verbal and listening skills, I can set calendars, translate languages, and all without anyone knowing I’m wearing hearing aids. I believe that if everyone knew what hearing aids can do, they would throw away their AirPods.

After one visit to an audiologist in Thousand Oaks who seemed to know NOTHING about hearing or patient care, I looked on line for someone closer to Simi Valley where we live. I happened upon Dr. Malan - and what a God send he was!!!! From the first conversation I had with his office, I felt confident that he knew what he was doing and that my mother would get the best care available!! His bedside manner if you will, cannot be matched, and he truly cares about his patients. We leave the office with a hug, and he responds quickly to any question or phone call. Dr. Malan and his crew have made this the best experience ever. My son came in at the age of 4. Left ear is not working as well as it should. I would find myself having to yell all the time just so he was able to hear me. And it killed me because yelling is all I could do. So he thought I was always mad at him. Anywho, after multiple ear infections and tests... I opted to get tubes put in and we ended up at ascent. He now has his big boy hearing aid and lives it!!! His favorite colors and they gave us a small backpack with all the things he’ll need, plus so many batteries. Annnnd a stuffed tiger with hearing aids. My son loves him. I couldn’t have asked for a better doctor. His staff and himself went above and beyond to make my son comfortable with the whole situation and he actually loves going to the appointments. I highly recommend this group whatever age you are!
