First time here after reading the reviews. I wanted to go to a special place to custom frame an oil pastel drawing I did to give as an anniversary gift. This place has an amazing selection of unique frames, where picking the right one could have been overwhelming. However, Paul narrowed it down to a couple of options efficiently. Customer service was impeccable, and I received my order on time. I am in awe of the finished product!

I have had about a dozen items framed by Artistic Picture Framing and I will be back. Rodolfo is so passionate about his craft and the whole experience of creating the vision is just so fun. I cant tell you how many people have commented or complimented the custom shadow box made for a very special, antique Oakland Fire Department badge. The expert artisan whose name escapes me, has an eye for detail. He helped choose the frame (a very classic gold) as well as the requisite red velvet background. This is the place to go for high end custom work.

He has excellent taste and experience to guide you with colors and finishes that complement your art and bring out certain attributes of the art based on your taste and what you want to bring attention to in your art. Rodolfo did a fantastic job. For my 7 x 3 giclee print of a pastel original I wanted a very slim profile for the frame; he did not try to convince me that a big chunky frame was the right choice. Also I did not want UV glass that would set up a barrier over the delicate texture of the original, so he found a place in Alameda to add UV coating to a dry mounted print, so the full experience is of the artwork. He had trouble obtaining the right frame material from Texas and he had to reorder it twice. Ive used Rodolfo for many years, but this time he outdid himself.

This was a fantastic, luxury experience, and I feel like I now own a piece of art that I will keep for life and potentiallyhand down in my family. I would highly recommend this for someone who does not need to buy more junk but buy quality.... I brought in a poster (a Golden State Warriors poster) that I wanted framed. The man who owns the shop has done framed works for the Golden State Warriors stadium and also some of the players! We spent an hour choosing a background and frame, I have had no prior experience except for buying cheap frames. He chose colors for me to choose from and styles that would make sense. I paid, it was expensive, but it was worth it because my art looks amazing. It took about 2 months to make but I was so excited to get it, totally worth it. It looks phenomenal in my house. The glass was broken on my frame and i wanted to keep the original frame and just have the glass replaced. They replaced the glass with UV protected glass to avoid fading of my painting and re-taped the back. Also, spacers were placed so that the painting would not get stuck to the glass. In addition, a wire was added to the back of the frame so that I can hang it. The turnaround time was less than 2 days. Highly recommended for the price.

The owner even drove me home with one of my projects when it started raining while I was picking it up on foot.My only complaint is that once you have good frames on your walls, it is very difficult to have sub-standard frames, so this could become an expensive habit!

Rodolfo at Artistic Picture Framing is a joy to work with; so talented, warm, creative & helpful.First off, I had a piece that needed a little repair, but its heavy, and Im disabled. Rodolfo came to my house to pick it up, and delivered it back (along with my two new pieces) with a whole new frame!The other art that I brought in was tricky to frame in order to really bring out the balance in the colors without overwhelming the eye, or making them look monochromatic. Rodolfo has such skill in diving right in and suggesting various textures & colors for mats & frames. He is enthusiastic without being overbearing & also letting the customer know the price ranges of the materials they are looking at so there isnt sticker shock. He does not try and upsell and will work with in your budget. I am on a tight budget and I ended up with some spectacular art!Both recent pieces are breathtaking. The framer helped me choose a color that brought out key elements in the artwork, but that didnt distract from the subject matter. When we came to pick up, there were two employees that were just awesome to chat with as they showed us the framed works to make sure we were happy. Both frames were absolutely perfect. First time I went here, they stretched and framed a huge canvas for a lower price than any other framing shop Ive tried, and helped me choose the best frame for the piece (its absolutely gorgeous!). Ive gone to Artistic Picture Framing many times over the years. Rodolfo has a fine eye for balance of colors, forms, textures. Ive brought him old prints, paintings, calligraphy, and drawings. I had framed here a beautiful and important certificate from Japan. The suggestions for matting were perfect, with a gorgeous silk matte, and the frame itself was perfect, with the thinnest red line in the border to bring out the red in the Japanese stamp in the certificate. I was so pleased that I brought two other important pieces to be framed and my timing was great, because they each needed a blue matte and there was the prettiest dark blue silk matte that had just come in. Very very pleased with the quality, artistic eye, service, timing, and expertise. I wish I had gone here earlier for other framing.

I never wanted to write a review until I walked into this store. I needed some prints framed ASAP and the owner Rodolfo told me he could do it on the same day, which to me was unheard of. His ideas on how they could be framed were incredible and it was obvious he possesses a fantastic artistic knowledge of how to frame.Sure enough at the end of the day I came to collect and not only were they ready, but he had used more expensive and beautiful materials than I had paid for, simply because he takes pride in his work. As someone on a limited income—and with two art pieces that meant a lot to me—having them professionally framed was way at the bottom of my list.
