We booked a 2 tank guided tour with full rentals, and the overall experience was perfect. The staff was very friendly and helpfull, and the gear was of good quality and in a good shape. Furthermore the diving itself was beautiful, and our dive guide Brandon did an amazing job. We already had cold water experience, although it would not have been necessary given the easy conditions and the instructions given by the dive guide.

Great dive shop! The staff are truly the best. I did my open water here in 2018 and fell in love with diving after diving Monterey. The staff are super knowledgeable and will do whatever they can to ensure that your diving experience is the best. The club dives are also great and a good way to meet fellow divers as well as discover new sites. I cannot recommend Aquarius enough!

Go elsewhere for dive certification! With all their hidden fees its $800 for open water which is way more than other dive shops. Terrible customer service. Manager wont even take the time to talk with you.

This is an excellent dive shop for tours. I did the 2 tank dive with them twice now an both experiences were excellent! The website works great to schedule the dive and rent any gear you need. They offer packages for both 1 tank dives and 2 tank dives. you can also rent individual pieces of gear at a separate coast for each piece. getting the gear in the shop was easy and they made sure that everything fit and worked properly before heading to the site. They even provided a box that made everything easy to transport in my car. My guide was also excellent he made sure my group knew everything they needed to know before the dive. If you are a new diver I would recommend this shop as they took us to an excellent dive site for all experience levels (San Carlos beach). When returning the gear they made it easy all I had to do was drop everything back at the shop and they handled the rest. I would highly recommend this shop for diving on your next trip to Monterey.

My husband, son and I recently rented equipment to snorkel in the kelp forest. The entire process was very organized and very professional. Upon making our reservations, we were asked to provide details regarding height, weight, shoe size. Everything was ready for us when we showed up, and they explained how to put on the equipment in order to best protect us from the very chilly water. They were happy to answer our questions and even recommended several snorkel spots. The snorkel experience itself was absolutely one-of-a-kind, and the good people at Aquarius Dive Shop helped make it possible!

As a PADI professional, I do not recommend getting your tanks or rental gear from Aquarius Dive Shop. Weve had issues before with workers being rude and faulty equipment rentals, but now the shop is just blatantly neglectful.Today was the last straw. My friends were given a tank filled to 4500 psi and rental gear that can only withstand a maximum of 4000 psi. When I brought this up when returning our gear, they mentioned that this had been a regular issue with the people that have been filling the tanks. That is extremely dangerous and someone is going to get seriously hurt either at the shop from a tank explosion on the compressor or from their pressure gauge exploding when opening an overfilled tank.Ive been diving for 14 years all over the world and have never been so neglectfully given a tank with such an extreme fill. This is so preventable and they are obviously not taking diving regulations and safety seriously at Aquarius.On top of the overfilled tank, my friends were given two computers that did not have working batteries. (Not the first time theyve handed out non working computers to us) Their rental gear was not prepped even with a reservation and they had to wait for over an hour to get all their gear.Additionally, one of the other tanks blew its valve, froze shut, and the tank dropped to 1500 psi so we could only dive for 15 minutes. Not worth your time or your life. Take your business elsewhere.

Yesterday my fiancé and I went on a dive tour with the Aquarius Dive shop for the first time. The team was very informative and friendly. They were able to quickly assist us with any of our questions and gear. I will definitely being diving with Aquarius again as our dive guide, Dane was super calm and very personable.

As a first time cold water diver, Aquarius was the perfect dive shop to explore the Monterey coast with. I was impressed by how organized our rental gear experience was, they had everything pulled and ready for each of us to try on. The guides were all very knowledgeable and gave great dive briefings, and were extremely accommodating to anything we needed or had trouble with. We did both day dives and a night dive. Definitely recommend!

The divemaster/guide was friendly and helpful and great to be around.The front shop staff were very rude (especially one guy) and the place was chaotic. It seems to be set up for club dives where people know what to do, where to be and what the processes are. As a visitor there isnt much help getting your gear or dropping it off, no welcome or help until your guide arrives. When you drop off, the staff dont smile or come and help you, you have to find them and each person tells you a different thing to do, which ends up pretty confusing. Then they seem to think youre an idiot for doing what the other staff member said you should do, and treat you like that. For example, one person saying put your gear return here, another saying there, one saying wait by your gear, but then another saying you have to go inside and get your piece of paper/form signed off to return gear.You have to take all your gear in your own car to the dive site, which is fine but they dont tell you that so make sure you have space.This place could be great but all the staff seem to need basic hospitality training (e.g. smile at people and be helpful) and there doesnt seem to be anyone in charge (e.g. all the chaos). The dive shop seem to want your divemaster to just deal with you and youre an inconvenience to the real job of being emo or getting the club divers out the door.

I took their one-day Giant Kelp Restoration Specialty Course with Brian and Ari. Its a unique course that has a direct correlation to the conservation of Monterey Bay. Brian and Ari brought great knowledge and enthusiasm to the subject and I cannot wait to put my new found skills to practice and hope to join Aquarius and G2KR on future dives! Well organized scuba operation! Diving the last six years regularly, Aquarius Dive Shop stands out among the rest. Was our first time diving on the West Coast. Their Divemaster Nick took good care of us in the water. Was an excellent experience getting in the water with sea lions swimming by, beautiful kelp forests, a little chilly 54degrees but otherwise incredible! The opportunity to rinse all our gear out back at the shop after our dives and use their warm water shower were icing on the cake. Thank you guys for a wonderful West Coast dive experience!!!

Highly recommend this spot! My daughter and I attempted our first real dive today after getting certified 3 years ago. Needless to say... we were bumbling beginners who really didn’t know what we were doing. Everyone at the shop was super friendly and very helpful! Our dive master, Mike, was understanding and his wife came with us for an extra hand. They were both very supportive and super cool. We had some issues and couldn’t equalize so had to cut the dive short and it was no problem for them. Great shop! Great staff!

Knocked the rust off my diving after doing an online certification for a two dive tour around the sea wall and had a blast. Our guide and instructor Kristie was incredible and super patient while we made small mistakes. The gear was in pretty good condition and helped stave off the cold. Only negative was the lack of coordination and collection of gear at the end where we awkwardly stood around trying to find someone who could help us offload our gear before we could find a much needed hot shower. Overall an incredible experience (not the jellyfish) and the best tour guide ever. 9/10 would recommend!

Great experience having Aquarius provide rental gear for a day in Monterey Bay. They were able to accommodate a couple new divers, one a 13-yo, with wetsuits and bc and weights and tanks. The tanks we really nice compact steel high pressure compact 80cf tanks with convertible DIN/yoke valve. They were very pleasant and knew their gear well.

We dove with khristy yesterday and she was a very safe and experienced dive master. On our fist dive in cold water + first dive after getting certified, we were a little nervous about getting into the water but she was excellent in communication and really made us feel better. As soon as I communicated under water that I was not feeling okay she had all of us dive back to the surface to troubleshoot. Because we had a couple of other nervous divers in our group we didn’t end up seeing too much sea life :) We did see the magnificent kelp forest however and we will be back again to explore and get more experienced. This is a safe dive shop, would highly recommend.

Had such a great time on our second private tour with Nick! The staff are great and got us geared up quickly! My brother and I needed to get our PADI dry suit diver certifications in advance of a trip to Iceland, and booked through Aquarius. It was a great experience- they were super accommodating with the dates, even after plans changed on my brothers end. James did a great job fitting my rental suit, and my instructor Nick Powell was phenomenal. He recapped the course material I had read in advance, to make sure I had all of my questions answered. Then went for a couple dives at Breakwater to practice skills I might need to take care of potential problems. We repeated the drills as many times as I needed to feel comfortable, and then cruised around. By the end of my second dive, I felt comfortable and confident. Diving dry was a ton of fun, and a much more pleasant feeling that getting out of the water after two wet dives. Id highly recommend this course, shop, and instructor for those looking to add some new skills to their toolbox.

My experience with the Aquarius Dive Shop included my basic and advanced certification. Additionally, I took advantage of their fun dives, basically a social gathering where you can accompany their divers on a free dive at one of the nearby dive sites (assuming you bring your own kit, but they have rentals if needed).Overall, they were awesome, relaxed atmosphere and extremely easy to work with. Each of their divers was clearly experienced and capable of accommodating all skill levels. Equipment rentals were easy and their admin support for certifications was quick. (Upon completion of the training I had both my certs in >5 days). Great team, good experience.

Incredible customer service! The staff was extremely friendly and very helpful, especially the manager Chris. I came in with a group of 5 people and they were very quick at renting us gear at a reasonable price. We were fairly inexperienced divers so the manager decided to take his day off and dive with us to show us the best spots in Monterey. If your diving around this area, this dive shop is definitely a place you should check out.

Our guide John was extremely thorough and professional. Equipment was in great condition and everyone was very friendly and helpful. We dove the breakwater and it was my first experience with kelp diving. I’ve got John’s card and will definitely be diving with him again next time I’m down here. Their location is not quite as convenient as some of the other shops, but don’t let that deter you - seriously. 10/10!

The staff at Aquarius is fantastic. My daughter and I used them for two guided dives from San Carlos beach and had a very good experience. The patient and knowledgeable staff took plenty of time getting us fitted and kitted up for the day.Alex was the best dive guide. She was very friendly and happily helped with questions, concerns, and forgotten certification info from my 16 year old daughter. If you are a relatively new certified diver unfamiliar with diving in Monterey, you definitely want her leading your group.We will definitely be back.

I just got open water certified at Aquarius Dives shop - the dive staff was incredibly fun and engaging. The water was chilly after our first ocean dive but the staff had hot chocolate and snacks waiting when we got out. I saw a harbor seal swim right by me which was crazy. The staff reiterates the importance of safety and I never felt unsafe. The owner is extremely knowledgeable and so much fun to dive with - I absolutely recommend getting certified here!

The staff at the shop makes you feel extremely welcome and the Underwater Voyagers dive club they host is so organized! They have weekly club dives in the morning and evenings, accommodating to school and work schedules, and the guide is always actively looking for the best diving sites and conditions. He also keeps very close contact with the members via email, and while in person he provides you his undivided attention.

I got my certificate here last year and had a wonderful experience with the teachers. A year later, I came here again for a dive tour because they offered excellent service. We came late because the traffic was really bad during labor day weekend but the staff and the dive master was really accommodating. I forgot the dive masters name but his license plate was Shark Diver and he was very patient with us! Id probably come back here again just because everyone was so accommodating and helpful.

Not the most consistent dive shop I have every been to, it is very hit or miss. I think this is the only dive shop that has free parking, though it does get congested if you are showing up when there is a class or something else going on.

I tried emailing the shop first instead of posting to google, but my concerns went unanswered so I no longer feel the need not to share my negative thoughts.To sum it up in less words than I sent the dive shop, we booked a dive excursion with Aquarius Dive Shop. We came from LA specifically to do a dive tour, as Monterey was recommended in many dive books so we were eager for great diving.We chose a guided dive as opposed to just exploring on our own as we could do that, but wanted someone familiar with the area, especially since this was one of my first dives out of my certification.To start, the website states group dives are groups of 4 or less. Ours was a group of five, and clearly five was too many for our guide to handle.Our guide took us to what I would call the worst dive site and does nothing to show off Monterey. To start, he chose a dive site that was awful, and didnt have sufficient parking. Parking was an issue when then made us pressed for time and rushed. We did not have a good experience as being rushed and pressed for time due to parking constraints really takes the fun out of things.Due to time constraints and being rushed, we missed one out of our two guided dives.On our second dive, there was nothing to see other than the kelp, which was not as impressive as Catalina. He found 1 crab for us to see, and thats all we saw. Visibility was less than 8 feet so if there was more to see, this wasnt the place.There are a lot of dive shops to choose from, and I would not recommend this one for a dive tour. They didnt provide the services I expected from a dive tour and they didnt care to respond to my email, so I would try to find a different dive shop that will offer a better experience.

Aquarius, you dont get my vote or my business for your current level of service and Ill encourage others to divert business until you get organized.I made an appointment to drop off 4 tanks for a visual. Once I arrived to drop them off I was told I had to pay a 30 dollar rush fee. 25 dollar visual per tank, plus, 30 dollar rush fee for an appointment I had made.I made an appointment, so a rush charge was incredibly poor form.I got certified here, zero loyalty under current management, whoever they are.I left without getting work done. There were no customers when I arrived, and none when I left.

I got a Groupon for this business. When I called they told me they don’t have any classes until end of February. I said that’s fine, can I sign up for one? But the person on the phone told me that he has to do something right now but he will call me back. Unfortunately No one called me.I called again the next day and another person answered and I said I wanna schedule a class. She again said she will call me back but again no one called. I called another time and yet another person answered the phone and told me that I should call back because they are busy. Another day and this time “we are about to close, call tomorrow”. Anyways I returned my Groupon and got my money back.

I came down to Monterey to get my DRY SUIT CERT Im advanced, with nitrox currently This place really went above and beyond to accommodate our dive at BREAKWATER COVE this weekend!!! They have a very friendly, knowledgeable staff, and plenty of gear to offer. I had 2 old pairs of fins... used, but not torched!! And donated them to the shop. In doing so, they gave me a discount on my new pair I bought from them!!! GREAT SHOP!!! They also have a pool for training available. In the past I have used BREAKWATER SCUBA and they are decent as well. Id give Aquarius a shot if you have never usee them. Hell, try them both and then comment back which one you liked best!!! After all, its all about helping future explorers!!! DIVE ON!!!!

Ended up walking by there today by chance & noticed they where having an inventory sale?!😳 How come I didnt hear about this on nextdoor.com? They had some AMAZING deals & prices on wetsuits & ALL diving gear gadgets & things!However since this was a 2 day weekend event, I wasnt able to find a suit that fit but if I had it wouldve been less than $30💰😳🤫

Another great experience with Aquarius. My wife, daughter and I just completed the PADI dry suit diver certification with Aquarius and the class, staff, and service were exceptional. The owner James Vincent and staff (Ashley, John Jack, Kia and Katy) took great care of us and everything with great skill and patience. If diving in Monterey or the surrounding area, Aquarius is your place.

Awesome shop. If you rent equipments from Anywater in Saratoga, you can fill the tanks for free, because it is the same owner. They do have more variety of wetsuits compare to Anywater though. Staff is helpful and cheerful.

At the shop at 7:30am, sized by 8:15. Waited for Scott. At dive site by 9 (10 minutes away). After a very long, albeit informative and good speech, waited for Scott again. In the water at 9:45.....

Went to Monterey to do my AOW while on vacation at the end of March. As recommended by the owner (James), I did a 2-tank dive tour with Scott to familiarize myself with the area and equipment (read: COLD water diving). So glad I did - was able to get my rental gear set-up in shop quckly - and did my AOW the next 2 days. Rental gear gets quite $$ if you dont have your own, especially since hood/boots/gloves are essential. I got to use brand new equipment so everything was in perfect working order. The only thing Id suggest is a better system to ensure that tanks are FULL before renting out to people (and whoever keeps putting the cap back on a used tank - STOP IT).Tour itself was great, got to see a lot of various vertebrates and invertebrates (I think Scott has a thing for nudibranches). Kim G led the AOW class with help from other divemasters (Hannah, Denise, Michael-thanks everyone!). Safety was always a priority. Adequate time going through knowledge reviews with helpful tips/tricks during briefing and the dives. We had some rough times with the poor vis and whatnot, so the post-dive therapy talks were a nice way to de-brief what happened below.Tips: you are responsible to get yourself and gear to the marina (

Fills are a breeze at Aquarius because you can back right up to the outdoor fill station. I love the new nitrox fill card. Bruce is a safe and prudent guy who maintains his gear well (and will happily give you a tour of the compressor shack). Uunlike some shops, he doesnt require flamboyant labeling or O2 clean vis stickers for an ordinary 32% nitrox fill.Some dive shops will try to sell you a $1000 data mask when you stop by for air.At Aquarius theyll ask how your diving was and recommend new dive sites.Bring Cody a tennis ball and youll have a friend for life... Hang out for a while and youre bound to meet some of Montereys most experienced divers...

Got my ow with them, they aren’t professional specially with international students. They have no patience, and it ended up with sending my certification card to an incorrect location. I don’t recommend them.

Nice people, great shop. Good rental equipment.They cant help with poor visibility in the water, but they showed me as much as they could underwater.Minus point: I think almost $200 for two guided shore dives with rental equipment that you also have to transport to the dive site yourself is pretty expensive.
