This is long over due. I came here on the 10th of February of 2023. I brought in to get my 2013 iMac fixed, it wouldn’t turn on. I was a little hesitant on going through with the repair, money was a bit tight at the time but well worth it.Micheal gave me an estimate and in 3 days it was fixed. Still running smoothly to this day. Should have gone with the SSD Upgrade 😄. Thank you Micheal and everyone here. Great work and excellent staff.

I needed to pull all the video and photo files from my deceased wifes old iPhone. The phone had been sitting plugged in for over two years, and I was really worried it would brick without warning and I would lose everything on it.Manu was very sensitive to my situation and went above and beyond to help me. I ended up with files I hadnt even thought of saving, and now I have access to her cloud account. I am so relieved.Thank you very much Manu!

Took my locked out iPad to them, they said they would be able to help fix it. The employee said it would only take approx. 40 minutes. We came back to the shop and it was ready to go. They even patiently waited to allow us to sign into to make sure everything was working correctly. Fair price for their services. Definitely would recommend for all your Apple product needs.

Ive been in here a few times and always had really great service. Michael is always super friendly and helpful. I never get the vibe that theyre trying to swindle me. They offer multiple options for repairs that usually include refurbished options and hes even been direct with me when its better to just get a new computer vs paying him to repair it.

What a great experience! I took an older Mac desktop that belongs to a family member in to see if it was working and, if not, was it worth getting back in operation. Michael was really helpful. He checked it out right there at the front desk, showed me that it was working but that it was a dated hard drive that would cost about $450 to replace.Based on that, he recommended using that money to spend on a better, more recent used model, leveraging an iPad that the family member owns, or thinking about a new one. I would definitely go back with any equipment that needs work. I felt very confident that Michael knows what hes talking about.My only complaint, if you can call it that, was that parking was not readily available. I had to drive around a bit, and finally finagled a spot at Berkeley Bowl market. But this would not keep me from going back.

Manu and his team are the wizards you are looking for. I was in a bind with my MacBook and phone--virusy issues, couldnt update, space not optimizing, everything was acting so buggy and I couldnt get to the bottom of it--and they fit me in right away and worked it out! We got so much done in a short amount of time. I know I would never have gotten personalized care right away if Id gone to the Apple store and worse, Apple probably would have taken my computer away for days or weeks!

This is the place to go for data retrieval!!!!OMG. I cant say enough.I FRIED my Macbook laptop by spilling scalding hot tea all over it (and on the port area while plugged in) and it died a sudden death, and nothing could revive it. And, wise person that I am, I hadnt backed up my data for about THREE YEARS ( I know, I know....). It couldnt be powered on, because the inside of the computer was severely damaged, and it was the type of computer where the data was melded onto the hard drive. I work at a college (hard to believe, I know), and they took it apart and told me that it was virtually impossible to get my data off the very much beyond dead hardrive. We sent it to Apple and they said they could not fix it. I had two very large data retrieval companies look at it, and they quoted me 2.6k and 1.9k. Both said it would take 4-6 weeks to get my data, because it was such a complicated case, and that I was lucky they could do it at all.And so, defeated and demoralized, but giving it one last shot, I called this place. They were so friendly, professional, and reassuring. They were confident theyd get my data back pronto, and well below my max price (I could not pay more than 1k). I couldnt believe it. But it was true! I brought it in, and the wonderfully professional and intelligent and awesome Michael helped me, asking me questions to know what happened and being very reassuring.THREE DAYS LATER (!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) the wonderful Manu called me and told me that everything was saved, every single solitary thing, including my zillions of bookmarks (Im a teacher, hard to believe I know, and Ive spent countless hours finding the perfect videos to go with my classes) and the whole thing cost........ $650!!!!! For an extra few hundred, the entire computer could have been repaired (I had gotten a new one through my college). $650!!!????So, the moral of the story is that this is the place to go. They are honest, ridiculously competent, and inexpensive.Thank you thank you thank thank you thank you!!!!!!!

The customer service was so warm and inviting. The young woman was polite, knowledgeable and delightful. Most importantly she was trustworthy, in handling your Mac. She went above and beyond of helping an inept technical person, such as my self. I especially, like the pop quiz, to see if I could remember how to remedy the situation, I had, which brought me to the shop in the first place. Which wasnt all bad, now I know an great place to go other than the apple store without costing an arm and leg. Oh, yeah, incidentally, she didnt charge me one dime!! Heck... yeah. People who for it. I highly recommend this jewel of a place.

Wowee! These guys are amazing.Apple store spent 10 minutes with me and told me I could either buy a new motherboard for $700 or buy a new computer…Mac solutions literally spent hours working to solve the issue with my computer and actually fixed it, saved all my data, at a super reasonable cost.I will never consult Apple again on any issue with their products. The guys at Mac Solutions are leagues beyond Apple in computer knowledge and are in the business to actually repair your computer, as opposed to sell you a new one. As a bonus, they are also personable, relatable, kind people -whereas I feel like I’m speaking to a robot every time I talk to someone at Apple.

Solid Mac Solutions right here! My MBP 2019 16 stopped working, tech tried to diagnose it on the spot but something on the logic board was toast so they came to the rescue by fixing the board because I doubt apple would have done the repair-most wont touch it. They were able to get it fixed and salvage the data which is unheard of. It was slightly pricey but the owner worked with me and it was way cheaper than a new computer and when it comes to your data...well...its priceless-it was worth every penny. Professional, knowledgable, understanding, and just all around good people to work with. If you have a problem, they have the solution. Thank you!!

Everything in my experience was seamless, from beginning to end. I was in the Bay Area on a business trip when my laptop crashed. I hadnt backed up and thought I lost everything.From the moment I called Apple & Mac Solutions, I knew I was in good hands. They were reassuring, knowledgeable, and friendly. I really appreciated their personable care; in a moment of panic, I felt like the people on the other line actually cared about the result.The same was true when I arrived at the shop with my computer. Apple told me it was not repairable, and yet Manu and Rory had it repaired and as good as new in three days! They even coached me on a cloud-based backup system that I had resisted, so that I dont need to worry about this anymore. I would give ten stars if I could; thats how positive my experience was!

I had a Mac Book Pro that was damaged and went in to have it diagnosed. They were able to open it up and figure out in short order that the guts were fine but the screen was the problem. Then I was given three very clear options with pricing for the replacement. I chose a used screen as I had no need of a perfect cosmetic solution. Communications through text and email were very timely and clear and the screen was replaced in a day. I felt they really knew what they were doing, and I far prefer this efficient small store experience to standing in line at Apple.

I am so glad I found them and I have been going to them for years for Iphones, and Ipads and my Mac Air. They are so much more knowledgeable than the Apple geniuses about all Apple products and technology in general. They will help you understand software issues whereas Apple experts are only focusing on devices and not how they intersect. They are not trying to upgrade you to another device and are honest about what you need to do. So when I get the estimate and bill I know it is appropriate. When they fix something, it is fixed and works beautifully. I am able to keep using a perfectly good (even if older) model by going to them. I trust what they recommend and what they do completely.

They fixed my water-logged macbook 2018 in a reasonable timeframe sometime in September, and Ive had no issues using it for work and leisure regularly since then. I highly recommend Apple & Mac Solutions. I brought my MacBook Pro into the shop in a panic last week after it crashed the night before. They quickly identified the problem, explained to me what was going on, and patiently talked through the various repair options and costs with me. These guys are great. My 2012 iMac died when the hard drive failed after an update. I almost paid $2000 for a new one, but these guys replaced the hard drive with a new solid state drive. They also transferred a backup from a semi-dead time capsule time machine. So far my Mac works great and is faster than before because of the new hard dive.

An initially frustrating experience turned into a great one. Manu and Rory tried to repair my 2012 MacBook Pro but after each of three attempts, including sending it to a third-party shop, it reverted to the inoperable state that caused me to take it in in the first place. Id paid a lot for the repairs but before I could even ask for a refund, Manu said hed issue one. How easy was that? Great business practice. Then we talked about options for replacing my computer, and I took Manu up on his offer to give me a handsome credit for my clunker and to sell me a gently used MacBook Air in great working condition at a very reasonable price. So I walked out of the shop with a ton of trust and a better computer than the one Id wanted repaired. Would go back to them in a heartbeat next time I need their expertise!

UNFORTUNATELY I FOUND NEITHER THEIR WORK OR THEIR WORD COULD BE TRUSTED. Came to Mac Solutions on the recommendation despite the distance to bring my water damaged air book to be repaired After considerable expense and time, I was told it was fine and three weeks it went completely inoperable because of an inadequate inspection there was only a partial repair. There was water which had not been detected on the mother board. Wondering why a more thorough job wasnt more carefully done before returning it to me.This now required additional hundreds of dollars to repair now totaling nearly 50% of the value of the computer. The owner (?) Manu repeated an earlier offer to make a donation to the non-profit that owned the computer. Thinking that would compensate in part for the enormous expense I agreed. I got the computer back after a month but the promised donation never arrived. When I called to follow up, Manu said I changed my mind and cited his preference geographically which I later showed him we complied. NEVER kept his word and NEVER apologized for my having to make six round trips from SF for this disappointing experience.The only good thing is their location down the street from Berkeley Bowl West.

I’m a health care worker that provides telemedicine to unhoused folks. During a busy clinic day my work phone failed so my patients couldn’t reach me. I friend recommended Apple Mac Solutions and they were able to help me right away. I was concerned that I would need to buy a new phone. We had 2 computers repaired recently. Both Imacs and the service was great. Computers are up and running perfectly. One with a video card issue (computer is older) and the other with a new solid state hard drive replacing the original one. Brought older 2012 MacBook in running slow, they quickly diagnosed problem, proposed repair (new SSD drive for worn out original hard drive)and made sure files were transferred. Brought it in on a Monday afternoon, they said would be ready Wednesday/Thursday. Received a call Tuesday afternoon, hey your computer is ready early do you want to pick up today. Wow, when’s the last time you got something turned around that fast? Amazing service, pricing is reasonable and quality work without a hitch. Was very kind to give me a small price break as well that was purely Manu’s call. I had opened up a scam on my computer and I was afraid it was so compromised that I’d have to have a new OS. I was told it would cost $180,Including wiping my data clean, and when I brought it in to Apple and Mac solutions they carefully examined it, said I was very lucky and that it didn’t have a virus and wasn’t compromised, and only charged me $45 for their service. They were very courteous, helped me right away and I was out of there in half an hour. Very good experience all the way around.

Without a doubt the best place to get your Apple products fixed or to buy quality refurbished machines. Manu and Rory are as good as they come—professional, intelligent, and compassionate. They fixed my wifes iPhone when literally no one else could. The Genius Bar and another local 3rd party shop both said it couldnt be done, but Apple & Mac solutions did it no problem, efficiently and at a reasonable cost! More recently I purchased a refurbished macbook pro from them, and when it had a minor system issue they took it back, diagnosed the problem, fixed it, and started the warranty period anew when they handed it back. These people truly care about you as a customer, and I will never hesitate to recommend them to anyone who needs their services. Top of the line in every way!

I am a solo consultant and my laptop is my right arm. In each case, I have come to them in an emergency - needing immediate and affordable help. Brought a possibly dead iMac to Rory. He analyzed it and first thought it could be repaired. He pulled files from my desktop that I needed that day and then got busy analyzing the Mac. Upon further review he determined that the hard drive had died and was unrepairable. Thankfully he was able to extract every file from the dead drive and transferred it to a portable drive I brought him. Second time i’ve Used them and they did not disappoint. I’ve gone here twice when my Mac has had disastrous problems. One of them was when someone spilled liquid on the keyboard. The other was one it was knocked off the table and the screen wouldn’t turn on. For both circumstances they quickly diagnosed and fix my problem and gave me an excellent and friendly service. Apple & Mac Solutions is fantastic! Im a professional computer artist and my iMac crashed at a critical time when I was just about to deliver some large projects. I rushed to my local Apple Store seeking help and file recovery and after almost two hours they couldnt get my Mac to boot up and all they could offer was to sell me a new computer with less storage and less RAM for over $3,000. I purchased that Mac but the next morning we Googled around and discovered Apple & Mac Solutions in Berkeley and took my old, dead iMac down to see if they could at least recover my files. Within 3 minutes—and Im not kidding— 3 minutes, Manu had my old Mac up and running and I could see all of my desktop files. Over the next couple of days, he was able to recover EVERYTHING and install a new solid-state drive in my old machine for less than a third of the cost of the new computer, INCLUDING the new drive. I returned the new computer to Apple and am happily back at work on my old iMac. Ive worked with a lot of techs over my career but Manu and Apple & Mac Solutions is the VERY BEST of all of them. These folks are honest to the core. We came to AMS when our traditional repair shop (in Concord) disappeared. In our small business -- and maybe yours, also -- we must be able to rely on user-friendly, efficient, and economical solutions. If something needs to be repaired or upgraded, we are biased to get it done it right the first time; we cant afford to do it twice or thrice. These guys do it, and they give you straight answers on whether that particular solution makes sense for your needs. Id guess that part of what you pay them for the actual repair is the consulting they do to make sure it fits your needs most economically.

I tried all the different tricks to fix the issue, and after zero progress, I went to Apple and they wanted to charge me $500 to fix my display. Nothing was wrong with the logic board or anything else. I brought my laptop to Apple & Mac Solutions and Manu took 3 minutes to not only diagnose the issue, but he also fixed my laptop. Manu is clutch and I recommend anyone with Mac issues to see him. He cares about helping people instead of taking their money.

Imagine this scene: Youve just poured a 16-ounce pot of coffee into a thermos, added the cream...and then somehow slammed the entire thing straight onto your laptop. Clean hit. Not one drop left over, and every micron of my computer doused. Aside from suffering from caffein withdrawal, I was sure my life was destroyed.It gets worse, if you can believe it. This is a super late review - as I am now in the market and was searching mac repair, Manus page popped up in search results and I remembered - Oh, Ive used him before! A few years ago. Good to know hes still around and seems to be doing successfully.He was super friendly and easy to communicate with - this is before he moved or updated his office and had me drop off and pick up from his home, which at the time was nearby my own. So far, Ive brought them two computers. A dead MacAir that had coffee spilled over keyboard and Apple said was toast, and I needed a new one. Manu and Rory replaced the logic board, and voila! It worked like new. A second one appeared to have a failing screen. They got a replacement screen, and it still didnt work! Oops. They replaced the logic board on that one, and again, voila! That worked. They charged me the original estimate (they put the screen in their stock). I plan on having them fix an old MacBook Pro, and upgrade the storage on two iMacs (I think I have too many computers - but the MacAirs belong to my daughters). These guys have reasonable prices, are competent an honest. I will never take a MAC anywhere else, including to Apple! They also repair iPhones and iPads.
