Dr. Andrew and his team are incredible! Our dog, Ritchie, was suffering from severe allergies and had developed a huge wound on his belly. Dr. Andrew provided a thorough diagnosis, answered all our questions with patience and clarity, and guided us through Ritchies treatment. Thanks to his expertise and the exceptional care from the entire team, Ritchie has healed beautifully. We are so grateful for the VIP treatment and the compassion shown to Ritchie. Thank you, Dr. Andrew, and your amazing team for taking such great care!

This place was The Best!I have a (very) complicated pet, my dog is large and has fear aggression. The wonderful people here worked with me to get my boy treated for cancer.We worked together to get him sedated so he could be treated. They treated him well, and his recovery was amazing.The prices were fair.Staff was so understanding and patient with us.5 stars from us.

Have been taking my dog here for over a year. Originally brought him in because of an emergency, and the doctors here made sure he got to keep his leg. Great surgeons and team!My dog always gets excited when were close now and Animal Hospital South Bay, and they take great care of us for everything from shots to just check ups and more. Very recommended!(picture where we first brought him in, and second from a year later)

I called with concerns about Tobys anal glands and they got him in right away that afternoon. He was able to start antibiotics and pain medication right away for an anal gland infection. No more bloody drainage, and hes much more comfortable. Back to destroying toys with his brothers. We have been coming to this vets office for over 8 yrs, and I feel they have taken good care of my boys (4 dogs).

Our dog had cancer and had to have her leg amputated, the care she received was so comforting, she was up and about in only a couple of days, the doctors and staff are so kind and caring, now that we have a cat we continue to take him to Animal Hospital of South Bay, prices are very reasonable, the staff is the best and our non-human companions get the best care available in the area.

Every time I take Alfie in he is well cared for by EVERY staff member. This matters a great deal to me as he is my child without a voice. Every member of your staff demonstrates care & compassion to my Alfie. It’s why I drive 32 miles to take him to your clinic. After a pit bull attacked Daisys throat she needed immediate attention, what we received the moment we arrived at the office. Daisy was scheduled immediately for surgery and I received text message, when the surgery was successfully completed and let me know, when I could pick her up. I received detailed after care instructions verbally in the office and in writing. It looks like Daisy will be recover fully. Thank you for the great care. P.S. I cannot speak highly enough about this vet practice. Great communication, incredible and caring staff-from the folks who answer the phone, to the techs and the vets. I feel so fortunate that my two Goldens are cared for by this incredible team. When something really terrible/scary happens, like your almost 1 year old puppy needs emergency surgery to save his life, you see a vets true mettle. Kindness all the way around, and such a great outcome. I cannot recommend them enough!

This place was recommended by a friend who takes her cats here. We brought in our dog Prince & Dr. A is everything you could want for a vet. He was very honest and straight to the point, had plenty of recommendations & what my husband valued most is that he showed us exactly what was happening with our dog rather than just telling us a theory & how honest Dr. A is. We will be back, my husband is asking me to change prince & reina over to this vets office instead of our current one. All staff was friendly & very helpful !

Dr. Marchan, and his entire staff were very supportive and diligent with my furbaby Lucie, she needed surgery, and had surgery under their care and I could not be more than thankful for saving her life. Truly after her surgery Lucie is a new and health baby, and I will be forever thankful to them.

My dog had and ear ache or something lodged in her ear, I took her in for a consultation for $75. after the vet took her vitals, the assistant informed me that it would cost an additional $85 to look in her ear, the doctor must be so handsome that he’s worth $75 just for a simple hello, better go somewhere else with that bull, anyway I took her right after to Lawndale pet hospital, they’re very transparent and knowledgeable, and I received a full diagnosis for $75

My dog Charlie had torn his cruciate ligaments on both knees. After many drs visits, This is the only place that diagnosed his issue 100%. Dr. Bierens was beyond amazing. She was thorough on her explanation and had a game plan. She specializes in surgeries and my Charlie is doing great and his bones are healing wonderfully. The staff here is amazing, helpful and informative. Thank you everyone.

Bad experience over price sure I am never going be there anyway you guys explain me everything and the you said it’s going to be 517$ with in 20 minutes and when the bill came it’s was 720$ something and then when we asked them you guys said it’s will be 517 $ you fix it and then you guys asking almost 5 thousand $ and I told I will take my pet somewhere else and then they were asking me my budget what the hell my budget for and then you guys said tell us your budget and I will see I can lower it for you are you guys serious that’s so funny 😆 that why I took him somewhere else because you guys where stilling people money and scared them so they can pay what ever you guys asked my pet is fine and I just pay 800 $

Not sure whats happening but I have noticed a change. Called to make a appointment for my sons cat because he thought she wasnt getting better. I am not sure who I was talking to but she was not nice. She said, well are you giving him his medicine? I said yes is he wearing his cone?, I told her Im not sure and she said, well when you go home at night cant you see?. I have a job that keeps me away from home for weeks at a time. No one should be treated that way. So many vets out there I guess they dont want my busioness and I do not understand why I spend hundreds of dollars for blood work and I dont get to see it. I get nothing totally in the dark. Ill keep looking for a vet.

I want to leave this review for not just my recent experience but for many in the past. First off let me say they staff at this vet is exceptional. Very kind and caring and helpful. They will do whatever it takes to get a same day appt when its a true emergency. The doctors are amazing. Especially Dr. Sevy and Dr. Gonzales. Dr. Davies as well, but he is no longer with the practice. I have my 2 cats who both are patients and now the third one I just got and never an issue have I had there. Thank you for being so helpful and kind and caring.

Wouldn’t recommend. They seem to rush everything and care more about their pockets than health of the animals that go there. The doctor that saw my cat said she was too aggressive to do an exam on her. Aren’t they trained to deal w that? Or you’re telling me only well behaved cat come to this clinic. Mind you my cat isn’t aggressive, she has no front claws and might bite if she feels uncomfortable or unsafe (like many cats do). Yall have been warned…

The clinic is very clean, and the receptionist is really sweet. The veterinarian spent a good amount of time with both my pets, and the nurse went over the list of charges and allowed me to choose which services I wanted. There was no pressure on me to spend more than what was needed. I appreciate the veterinarian’s thorough inspection of my cats, and I appreciated not being pressured to do more than what was necessary.

I have been with Dr. Marchaun for over 15 years and through all of my dogs lives he has been an exemplary veterinarian. I am on my third Rottie and he is the only vet I will see.I started with Dr. Marchaun when he was located on Lakewood Blvd. in Bellflower, and have followed him since. His staff at South Bay is awesome, caring and always so friendly and professional. If you love your pets, take them to South Bay Animal Hospital for all their health needs!

They are a a little expensive, But we have taken our two girls (Mastiff/Pitbull mix), and our little Multipoo too, here for years. They are wonderful to our dogs. Im am sad to hear they have stopped doing bath appointments but we are hoping they’ll bring those back! Otherwise in my opinion this is the place to bring your pet if you want the best care for them!

Not honest people working here. Brought my Ace, a border collie, in to resolve an ear infection and drain a hematoma on his right ear. Morning appointment and the Dr was running late which I see is common here. Finally got in and got the meds for his ear infection. They only partly drained the hematoma. They didn’t completely drain it from the start. I wasn’t sure why they didn’t but I monitored it between appointments to see if it changed, it didn’t. Went in for the follow up appointment, they were running late, and found out why. They told me that the hematoma was back, “see the fluid in his ear”, (that they never drained) and he will need to go into surgery to take care of it. I explained that they never fully drained and they denied it. They said that they would never… this place must be hurting for money or just think that people are simply stupid enough to fall for their shenanigans. I will never take my pets here again. Not an honest business. Scammers and charlatans abound here.Reply: Yes, we have not been back and will not be. We had it drained, completely, by another vet and it healed perfectly. No need for the unnecessary surgery your family Dr stated we had to have. I’ve spoken to 5 other people that had a similar pushy experience. If you love your pet don’t go here. They care about your money not the health of your pet. SCAM

After reading all the negative reviews from this place I strongly expect a comment back from this facility that deflects their part in the problem. Seems like every time they have received a negative review it’s because the customer was rude or some type of long essay on their policy. This place could care less about the customer experience and will find any way to blame thier rude behavior on the customer. I was late to my appointment today and even called and told them I was late and was willing to turn around if that meant I couldn’t be with the technician while they rewarded my puppies foot. They assured me I could on the phone and when I got it they were completely rude and told me multiple times I was late…. As if I didn’t already know that. The situation itself really didn’t bother me it was how rude they chose to Handel it. I would never bring my dog back here. I usually do not write reviews or care enough to share my opinion on a buisness but the front desk at this facility is so rude and disrespectful that I ended up leaving before even getting my dog seen. I think Alex was her name not sure. If you’re looking for a place where you can get in I would only go here in DIRE NEED. The only positive is that they actually pick up the phone when you call. But the service is terrible. To give you some more context my dog broke his paw and I came here based on a referral from a local. The first interaction the front desk was very rude but we let it slide (and we were on time this time), they proceeded to be rude again but we figured they were busy and let it slide (also on time), however this time the way they casted my dog caused bleeding and further injury. While attempting to express my need to speak with someone in person they proceeded to continue to be rude and disregard the fact that they made my dogs broken paw bleed… I can go on and on but I do not understand how this place has 4 stars. I would give them negative if I could. Excited for the long response on how they were just following policy.

I didn’t know that going to the vet could actually be a positive experience. Unfortunately, I didn’t learn this until after I went to Lawndale Pet Hospital to get a second opinion after having come to Animal Hospital of South Bay for almost 2 years. During that time, regardless of what the visit was for, our dog constantly shook whenever we went to the vet. He did not shake, however, after taking him to be evaluated at Lawndale Pet Hospital. In fact, he walked around wagging his tail while we waited to see that vet.Our dog needed a tooth extraction but also had a heart condition which made the procedure risky. My 12 year old daughter and I met with the vet at the Animal Hospital of South Bay. He explained that our dog’s heart condition was a concern especially as we considered getting his tooth extracted. He had no awareness of how his words were obviously affecting my daughter, as it was her dog. He gave no words of compassion or empathy. He later proceeded to tell me—in front of my daughter— that he plans to never have children. Why did I need to know that, and why in the world would he say that with my 12 year old daughter standing next to me?This vet also gave me an estimate for my dog’s tooth extraction, which would be anywhere from $475 to $4k. That’s a HUGE range. And we wouldn’t know the total amount owed until after the procedure. Whereas the total amount I was told that the procedure would cost (from Lawndale Pet Hospital) was a fraction of the cost, give or take a little depending on whether there were additional teeth that needed to be extracted.Animal Hospital of South Bay prescribed a diarrhetic to help with my dog’s heart condition. When I called them a couple of days later asking for advice on how to help my dog, who went from being perfectly potty trained to now having several accidents a day, one of the receptionists was irritated with my questions and basically said, “Too bad. This is just the way it’s going to be from now on since your dog is on this medication.” Not all of the receptionists are rude. This one in particular often responded to my questions on the phone with irritation and frustration.When I told the Lawndale vet about my dog having accidents from adding this new medication, he looked at my dog’s weight and cut the dose in half. My dog’s accidents stopped immediately.My dog’s tooth was literally dangling when I took him in to see the vet at Animal Hospital of South Bay. They only do surgeries on Mondays, so I had to schedule his visit about 10 days out.Lawndale Pet Hospital does surgeries every morning. My dog’s teeth were extracted the very next morning after having met with this vet for a second opinion.I’m not sure why the stark contrast between both vet experiences; I wish I had had a better experience at Animal Hospital of South Bay. But I will never recommend this vet to anyone. If you are looking for patience with your questions, professionalism, reasonable prices, and compassion, I highly recommend Lawndale Pet Hospital.

This place WAS a Great Place to take your Pet. Unfortunately As of 8.10.23 it is no longer! As soon as you walk in the front staff starts yelling you have an appointment? Whats the Name!!! ALL 4 of them at once… I was puzzled as to WHY they would be so LOUD in a LOBBY full of other people. Arrived 15 minutes earlier one person said she’d bring us in early it was 3pm…. It quickly turned to 3:35pm & the lobby was clear & they were taking in the people in as they walked in…. I went & asked when the 3:15pm would be called??? A loud busy body jumps into the conversation & shouts from across the room excuses on how they can’t control how long the vet takes… seriously??? RESPECT OTHERS TIME & stop overbooking YOU forget a little information goes ALONG WAY!!! Perhaps let customers know your running late at check in!!! Don’t be condescending like we DONT have other things todo. Take some training on HIPPA. Furthermore I WILL NEVER PAY MY hard earned CASH TO SUCH UNORGANIZED FACILITY WHICH CLEARLY ONLY CARES ABOUT over SCHEDULING APPOINTMENTS & NOT THE QUALITY OF CARE NOR THE WORK ethic they provide to the community. Staff is super rude. I missed my appointment because she told me I had the wrong place. I’ve been here twice and they will make you feel like there too busy and you and your pet are not important to them. I tried double checking because I knew I made an appointment and she realized I actually did have an appointment and tried to say I came in and said something else and that they were too busy. It’s not like I got me and my cat ready drove all the way there just to turn around and go back home.

Staff is very helpful and doctors explained what was to be done for my dogs. Three Labs. We got through all three in a timely manner. The only thing that is a problem is the parking lot. Very, very narrow parking places, hard to park. Actually really hard to park and the trees in the parking area make it even harder. When you finally get in the small spot the trees prevent you from opening your door. I was stuck in my vehicle and had to force my door into the tree to get out. Scratched my vehicle. I suggest you park on the street if you can find a spot or park across the street.

We have been coming to Animal Hospital of South Bay since they first opened and despite the now nearly 80 mile round trip with sometimes not so happy critters, we wouldn’t trust our furry family members to anyone else. Doctor Marchan is the absolute best and his staff rocks! Don’t know what we’d do without them and they have become a trusted part of our pet family over the years. In fact, four of our pets are all street rescues and Dr. Marchan and his staff didn’t hesitate to immediately step in and help us rescue each and every one of them. Unfortunately we had to put our 14 year old dog down, and the staff could not have been friendlier, kinder, sweeter, or any more empathetic with us. Our dog has aggressive tendencies and these were amplified due to his pain. The staff took this in stride and were very caring and understanding. Love them! We have been going to them for a long time and have always had great experiences. They took amazing care of our cat who had kidney disease who has since passed. They also used to cut our cats and currently cut one of our dogs toenails! Its great because its not too expensive and totally worth us not getting hurt in the process (our rescue screams the whole time even when we havent cut one yet). They also dont tend to mince words which I really appreciate when it came time for our cat they were very honest with us about everything and how it was what was truly best.

I took my dog here for issues she may be having, and the first time went well. I was able to make an appointment, doctors really nice, but after that is was awful. I made an appointment and hours went by before anyone helped me, following their protocols on calling and waiting. I called to rescheduled, gave me some kind of excuse of being short staffed on to why I waited so long. I don’t mind waiting a reasonable amount of time, just I wished they take consideration into my situation. I reschedule with one of their receptionist for a specific day two weeks from the original appointment. Keep in mind my dog is still having issues after the visit since nothing they gave me helped. I get to the appointment I had, and they told me I never made one. That it didn’t exist and another appointment was available another TWO WEEKS, so FOUR weeks from the day I was originally suppose to be helped. They even offered me a certain visit that cost a ridiculous amount, not the day of, but a week later. Either the management is bad or someone didn’t do there job properly on the computer. I’m finding another vet and not wasting my time with this one.

It’s important to trust your vet, we recently brought our 22 month old golden retriever in for a pre natal exam . Dr Marchan has been our vet before he opened this hospital. Unfortunately X-rays of our girls hips showed mild hip disease and Dr. Marchan suggested that we do not breed her. We were crushed with this news yet have enough trust in Dr. Marchan to follow his advice. Sometimes the truth hurts . We then proceeded to trust Dr. Marchan to spay her. He fit her into his busy schedule and did a fantastic job . It broke our heart to fix her but we believe that it was for the best. I recently had an emergency with our dachsund getting his tail hurt in a door. They were able to see us right away as soon as we arrived. The vet came out with Benny and gave us the good news he was fine. Just scared. Excellent service and also the fact that they understood the stress I was going thru. Update: its been a year now since Lucys bone grafting surgery and Im so pleased with their surgeon because Lucy can walk and run on her once broken leg again. Her recovery is amazing!Previous review: my baby broke her paw and I was referred to them for surgery. they were able to do the surgery in a few days time. the doctor was supposed to call me before the surgery but she didnt and I was a nervous wreck until I heard from her. but all that matters is that they took good care of her and she made it through the surgery.Im not sure how its healed yet so I cant speak to that but I can speak to the care that shes received. they have been really great with her and always seem happy to see her.all the checkups were included in the surgery price so that is extremely helpful because it was sooo expensive and she has to go once a week for her splint/cast to be changed.I will update my review once she is healed.

This place is great! Because of Covid I just stayed in my car and they called me when my dog was being seen. We talked about the treatment and I didn’t feel pressured at all to go one way or another. They were super helpful and responsive. And what I really liked was I could use the pharmacy of my choice. They just emailed me the prescription and I took it to Costco. I definitely recommend this vet!

Recently switched here from another Animal hospital and I’m far more satisfied with the level of care I received here than anywhere else I’ve gone. My sweet boy had an ear infection and was very protective and would only let certain people touch him or he growled. Needless to say they wanted to give him something to sort of sleep while they checked his ears. Here at Southbay they let me be in the room, hold him and comfort him to assure him and everything went well. No need to put him to sleep. Our 5 year old golden retriever needed an emergency surgery because she was diagnosed with pyometra. I called the hospital and Christopher was extremely friendly and helpful in setting up an urgent appointment to come in. The owner Dr. Marchan had agreed to operate our dog right away. The surgery went well and they kept us informed. Very professional, caring service and at a reasonable price. Dr. Marchan even provided his cell phone number in case we needed to reach him. Thankfully there was no need and we are very happy with our experience. I would definitely recommend!!! Now 2 weeks after the op and our dog is doing well! Dr. Vacquez is great. Very sweet with my cat who isnt too fond, at all, of seeing a vet! And she really cared when one of my cats went missing for two weeks and then was found and needed some TLC. I have been very pleased with their services. I transferred my dogs vet care here because the vet I liked from another location started practicing at AHSB. Unfortunately, my experience with Michelle at the front desk has been less than pleasant. She was extremely rude, condescending, unprofessional and quite scathing. I had questions before I could bring my dog in due to the Covid regulations and she was short and impolite when I tried to get some simple answers. When I sent an email to the owner, I came to realize she was the office manager and replied to me herself. It defeats the purpose of sending in a complaint about a staff member when they, themselves, reply to you to avoid the consequences of their actions. Ive had several of my own clients complain about her behavior, but instead of reporting her, they simply opted to go somewhere else. Be careful sending your beloved pets somewhere when the staff is cold to their clientele it transfers to your pets.

I used to recommend this animal hospital to all of my friends. Since they opened I have been a loyal client. I had around 15 cats and one dog and in recent years have had to put numerous ones to sleep. Each and every time I have received a person that was not only com;passionate but helpful in trying to get me in as to not have the animal suffer. Well sorry to say that this time this was not the case. The person Erika who answered the phone was curt and not at all caring or even interested in what was going on with my cat. Hung up the phone on me accusing me of yelling which I was not but made a show for the people around her. Also spoke with Michelle the manager and decided why bother to wait till the next day at 430pm as this was early am. I could not let me cat suffer anymore and this place was not a place I wanted to go to any longer especially being as upset as we were. In this instance I went to VCA in Lawndale and they were wonderful compassionate and helpful. Have never been there before but was very impressed!!! wish you luck animal hospital of south bay. You have really disappointed us..and in response to yours below you gave me an appointment at 430 the next day tuesday. Or come sit in my car at 9 the next day and was told you had no idea how long I would be sitting there. And honestly in answer to your response that you were giving me an appointment that same day then really why would I not have taken you up on that rather than take my cat to a place I had never been to. We have been taking our own personal cats & kittens as well as the ones weve rescued and fostered to AHoSB for almost two years now. The doctors are extremely competent and take the time to personally explain in detail their suggested plan of care for your pet and are conscious of keeping costs for the pet owner as low as possible; they will not suggest purchasing anything that is unnecessary or that will not save money for you. I purchased a kitten package at the suggestion of a staff member and Im so glad that I did because it has saved us quite a bit so far. The staff are happy and very helpful, and run a smooth & efficient front and back office, even with new COVID-19 procedures in place. Their reception and discharge procedure goes like this: when you arrive you park in a numbered space, call them to let them know what space you are parked in, and they come out to pick up your pet who is in its own carrier. Then as soon as your pet is evaluated, the doctor calls you to explain everything, and asks you how youd like to proceed. A staff member will call you for payment over the phone and when treatment is completed, they bring your pet out to you along with any meds prescribed.The ONLY reasons I am not giving 5 stars is because, for whatever reason(s) on a few occasions, they forgot about us and had us waiting in our vehicle for quite a long time and my kitten was very ill one of these few times, also when we boarded this same kitten with them for a few days when we had to leave town, she wasnt let out of the cage often enough and was traumatized by it - never again. Overall were happy with the doctors, the prices are very competitive in comparison, and the staff truly care about animals and have always been very friendly & helpful. I highly recommend Animal Hospital of South Bay.

I switched to this vet when my senior cat was seeming to decline in health and I felt the gut instinct to look for more answers than what I had been getting previously. Dr. Marchan was amazing. This is an amazing animal hospital. My experience was an awesome one. I would highly recommend this animal hospital.I landed here because my cat Slauson, got hit by a car or had a nasty fall. The cause is unknown but he had some facial damage. He was in bad shape. Jaw was swollen and hanging.I chose this location because I had been to this place previously with another cat. The name use to be Beach Cities Cat clinic. I was able to make a same day appointment. Jessica was able to squeeze my in.Thank God for Jessica. Jessica is the receptionist. She is a beautiful soul. Being handicapped, I know what its like when doctors just tell you what to do without keeping you in the loop of what their long-term goal is, just telling you what the first step is.
