After parking and shopping in Andronicos for 15 minutes I found a notice my vehicle was being towed, due to passing a 1 hour parking limit.Whoever is responsible for posting these notices and towing must do better at tracking vehicles and time limits before they unnecessarily incur hundreds of dollars in towing costs on their patrons.I also noticed about a dozen other vehicles with notices and some other similarly surprised patrons.

Safeway bought the market and put in its own people, including a passive aggressive guard who brazenly stared at me at close range at check out. I cancelled the transaction and left. Last week, I witnessed a heavyset black male employee shouting at an elderly woman as she was entering the store. She told me it wasnt like that before. Safeway bought the business, I replied. Oh, she said, easily catching the drift. The storefront should say Safeway so people know!

All grocery item under a roof. This is suitable market place for family groceries. This palace had varieties of 🍓🍑 fruits, fresh-vegetables, dry fruits, coffee, rice, spices, and yes variety of seafoods too. Besides, you can buy beer and wine. If you register your contact number you may get some discount on 🛒 shopping. You are celiac patient you can find gluten free rice, tortillas and gluten free-flour. There is enough space for 🚗 parking. If you are riding 🚲 you can park it at trolly stand, I did the same as there no place for bike parking. Another worth mentioning thing about this place is there fresh bakery items, at the entrance you can smell freshness of bread 🍞 and creams, enjoy shopping!!

A pretty solid grocery store in terms of the people there and the quality of the produce. Youll find most things you want there although if something is missing, youll almost definitely want to go to the other Safeway just a block away. This Safeway definitely gives more of a farmers market vibe in comparison

Just a solid neighborhood grocery store. They have all of the staples, as well as a decent fresh sushi section and all of the hard seltzers you can possibly desire. They also have a prepared food section, if youre into that and need something quick on the go.

Seafood counter employee is horrible. Cut me off in the middle of talking when asking for my order and grabbed a bunch of stuff I didnt want, then cut me off a second time when I tried to order another item and grabbed a bunch of stuff. When starting my order I said hello and asked how he was doing and got no reply, generally has an attitude and looking to pick a fight. I kept my mouth shut because I didnt want to cause a scene, but saw the same behavior towards a woman trying to ask a question the day before from the same employee. When she tried to complain to talk to someone up front about her experience the other store employees mocked her and joked with each other about it so she became overwhelmed and walked out. Really sad as I like this store and most of the employees are very helpful and a delight. Honest review, and Ive encountered this employee several times in the past and had a similar experience each time so I finally decided to leave a review. Not a way to treat customers.

Okay, so this is my go-to grocery and Im here at least a couple times a week. Literally not a complaint about anything inside the store.Maybe Ive just been missing it for years but theres no (effective) bike rack at the store. In one of the parking spaces theres a little metal rack that has spots for like 6 bikes, but in practice can maybe hold 3 if folks squeeze in.The rack is quite small (not just in capacity), so I have to struggle a bit to lock both my tire and frame into it. A good number of times Ive had to just put a lock around my tire and hope thats enough.Most of the time I see folks locking their bikes to various poles around the lot since thats quite a bit safer (though a higher risk of the bike getting hit...). Adding an effective rack would make the store soooo much more attractive to cyclists. It really sucks needing to worry that my bike will be stolen while Im trying to get my carrots.

The store itself is a little overpriced but the main problem is a deli they need a chef who understands food safety and how to cook food properly have had many incidences where the roast beef was raw. On another occasion the person making my sandwich I had gloves on and left the station more than once continue to make my sandwich with the same gloves on they need education on food handling in food safety.1-17-22Went by the deli again just to see if for example the roast beef had been corrected, or if there was any indication that the situation had been addressed, .... mainly if the roast beef was properly cooked (rare not raw (blue)). It was still raw! Very disappointing. Its inedible.3-6-22Went to the deli again the roast beef was cooked at least to rare but they actually sliced it with the grain so the whole slice of meat just pulls out of your sandwich or whatever youre trying to eat it you cant break it apart because its along the muscle fibers! Again whos driving the bus!?? Does anybody train these people? Somebody has to tell them that when you have a cheap cut like bottom round which is used to make roast beef you have to cut it across the fibers across the grain otherwise the whole piece of meat is basically going to be tough and chewy and send you and rubbery again awful I bought almost half a pound of roast beef and its pretty much inedible!

I like the idea of a smaller market place. It was almost closing time 9 pm, so not too crowded. Its in a lovely and safe location. The employees need to stop talking loudly to themselves and focus, instead, on the customers. Id rather listen to some quiet music. Theyre probably worn out at the end of the day but they should still put on a happy face for their customers.

Its Safeway! Not sure why its next to another Safeway. Otherwise, pretty standard selection. We havent tried the hot food but the groceries are fine. Safeway is expensive in general so its not our default store, but we always check it out when there is a certain item we need that we cant find elsewhere.

I shop here not so much for the selection of items but because its close and convenient, its open late, they have a parking lot and if you use your club card you can get stuff for cheap. Produce quality and selection are decent but they sometimes fall down on restocking items through the store. Cashiers are kind of grumpy. Today the cashier replied to a text in the middle of ringing up my order. Guess it couldnt wait..

I went pretty late at night, but hella things were not stocked. Pretty inconvenient.ADDITION:do not go late at night. They tend to only have 2 cashiers working (and theyre close self-checkout for some reason) so theres nothing but two massive lines that can take up to 20 minutes to wait through.

Expect the same poor food selection of a regularly sized Safeway, but even less so since its a small store. Lines to check out are always obscenely long. Beer prices at Safeway are more than Whole Foods, Trader Joes, or even the new Sprouts. Dont have pretty basic things in stock like dried chickpeas. If you want anything that might be considered niche like kimchi or tahini dont bother coming here they dont have it. Trust me. Pretty small produce section as well. Whole Foods, Berkeley Bowl, or Sprouts have much much more.

This store used to be Andronicos and I loved it because the meat market and seafood market you would get your items wrapped in butcher paper. That is something that I miss when going to other supermarkets.The only thing that has changed is the name and I believe the market is still the same.

Money saving tip! Download Safeways app. There are digital coupons and discounts in the app that give you free items you actually can use. I love avocados, and get some free every month along with other offers. The app is for both Apple and Android phones, and the stores have free WiFi. You can add the app from the notice that pops up when connecting to the WiFi. I remember this store from when it was Andronicos. Now its a Safeway, but some of the same nice staff are here. The selections have shifted a bit, but the prices are lower. Its nice and clean.

A big disappointment after the switch from Andronicos. Yes, many of the great people from Andronicos are still there, and there are a few of the old products, but too much has changed, and the prices are just as high. The fruit and produce section especially is a problem, weak selection and high prices. If people want Safeway stuff there is a Safeway 2 blocks away - why do we need another one in the neighborhood?

This is the highend of the Safeway stores. It was ounce a family owned deli called Andronicos. The store still has some of the same items as the family deli had. There are 2 community markets in Berkeley. One is at the top of Solano Avenue near the Alameda The other is on Shattuck Avenue in the Gourmet Ghetto. The cross street is Cedar..

Its a small Andronico but what I like about that is that it makes going in and out quick. Andronico in general seem to be more pricey compared to other grocery stores, but they also carry higher end groceries. I like their selection of meat, seafood, etc.

After Andronicos sold to Safeway we seem to be overwhelmed by Safeway in Berkeley. There are three of them within,two being two blocks apart. They are not the same. The community market carries better meat and seafood. The butcher and fishmonger are of a better caliber thar the Rose street location. The delicounter is pro. You can still get a good,made to order Samwhich at the deli. For a buck more they add double meat. With a semifreddies room and boars head meat you get a real samwhich. The seafood and meat are run in a more professional manner. Although the close a bit earlier,it is run better than the rose street store. Safeway seems to be competitive and trying to match the standards that Andronicos offered . I feel that the Cedar st community market is caters to the neighborhood.

Sorry to say it, but the pod people have invaded Andronicos and sucked their brains out. Nothing but styrofoam left in their skulls. I cant understand how the hallowed government of Berkeley could let this happen--like they couldnt have brought the Andros folks over to Berkeley Bowl and have them teach how to do it? A Bay Area tradition has been invaded and hollowed out. Go to any Safeway--all the mediocre same for the most part. You can find much better in BB, Monterey Market, and last but not least, Colusa Market.
