I recently had the pleasure of stopping by this charming establishment right after my regular walk in the park, and it turned out to be a delightful experience. I decided to explore their wine selection and was warmly greeted by the owner, Ryan (I hope I got his name right).Feeling like it was a white wine kind of day, I opted for a tasting of three European wines. My choices included the 22 Chardonnay from Domaine Givot-Goisot, Chablis, France, the Sauvignon Blanc from Domaine Sautereau,Sancerre, France, and the 18 Promara, Tsiakkas, Cyprus. To my delight, the owner also offered me a sample of the 20 Chardonnay from Domaine Eden in the Santa Cruz Mountains.I must say, I was truly captivated by the Cyprus wine; it was wonderfully light and creamy. This store is a gem for wine enthusiasts, with a diverse selection from all around the world. Its now my go-to place for discovering excellent wines beyond the borders of California.Thank you for the delightful experience!

We visited back in July of 2020 and I am just barely getting this review up and running.The hubby and I discovered this little hidden gem during the early days of the pandemic. Since gyms were closed, we did a lot of walking and thankfully so, bc we wouldn’t have discovered Enoteca Direct. We first visited to pick up a few bottles of wine, then became wine members shortly after. Then on a warm summer evening, we did an impromptu wine tasting. We had the pleasure working with Ryan; he was knowledgeable and educated us on all kinds of stuff.The wine club is great bc they have so many options and it’s so affordable. We are currently doing two bottles a month of just ITALIAN wine and I believe the cost is either $30 or $35. We have never had a pickup that has failed us.If you get a chance, stop by and do a wine tasting, then pick up some wine. I love the location too bc it’s not overly busy like the downtown area.I will definitely be back and SOON!

Walking inside the store my eyes are drawn to the walls of wine...a bit overwhelming. BUT then I start to read the descriptions and the very affordable prices and the wines all seem to be making their way into my basket. The guys are easy to talk to and are able to offer some great suggestions! I love how they have records all along the back wall...very hip!I also participated in a zoom tasting with winemakers in Italy tasting 6 wines put on by Enoteca Direct! It was so worth it! I ended up buying all 6 we tasted!

I truly love my wine club at Enoteca Direct. My friends and I enjoy tastings on the patio. Cant say enough good things about Enoteca Direct! The guys who work here are top notch, super friendly, and make buying wine very approachable. My wife and I are not wine snobs but we know enough about wine to be able to purchase intelligently most days but the owners and employees here help us take our purchases to the next level. They have a great selection from all over and always make wonderful new recommendations from regions weve never tried. Lastly, their online ordering is a cinch and they can always look back and see your past orders and get recommendations for new wines based on how that went. Love that they are right in my neighborhood! Prices are also SUPER reasonable! If youre looking for great wine this is your spot!

Enoteca Direct has a selection of outstanding and hard-to-get domestic and especially international wines. They seem to focus on lesser known wine regions, such as Sicily or Croatia.The staff is extremely friendly and very knowledgeable. Their regular wine tastings (in- and out-door) with interesting themes are fun and very educational.This is clearly my favorite wine shop in the Bay Area.

In a world of more of the same Enoteca Direct is refreshingly different and interesting. Unlike most wine shops that carry the same brands (usually wines that used to be great, niche wineries that have since been bought out by some conglomerate) this place carries up and coming domestic winemakers and smaller international houses - all of which the owners seem to know personally and have a crazy story about. Unpretentious, many of the wines come in below $50, many below $25 and if you can get over your wine-snobbery there are some incredible bottles of wine here to be had. The staff is friendly and quick to pour you something interesting to taste if you have the time and inclination. Weve fallen in love with this place and I buy all of our event wines for work as they are so good at recommending good bottles. Highly, highly recommend.

This gem is a great addition to downtown Los Gatos. Besides their great selection and price points, the staff is very friendly and knowledgeable with no attitude. I brought my niece who is just starting her wine journey in one rainy afternoon. She had an amazing tasting session with really solid useful lessons about how to taste, how to figure out what you like, and how to tune out all the noise about what is right and wrong since it is really about what you like full stop! Great music to boot :-)

Love these guys.I walk in and tell them what’s for dinner. They magically pull a bottle or two. When I get home, I’m a hero.Sure, if you wanna splurge, they can set you up. Wine shop with daily wine tasting from a pretty extensive list. The staff can make recommendations from the tasting list based on what you tell them you like. Half glass and full glass tasting, plus some pre-arranged flights. The shop features an aisle of under $25 and even under $20 bottles, which are decidedly NOT the wines youd find in the supermarket wine department. The people who run this shop specialize in unusual grapes and locations, but always have an eye on the price/quality ratio, so buy what you can afford and you know it will be very good. They can easily steer you to things that will fit YOUR flavor profile AND your budget. Eight monthly wine clubs too, with monthly zoom and in-person tasting, and tasting kits for the zoom wine tasting. Love this place!

I have had the great fortune to be able to shop at many incredible wine stores in my life. And each time I go to Enoteca Direct, I am reminded about how special it is….with its very personalized service (Ryan, you are a star!) and it’s eclectic and value driven wine selection. Here, is isn’t about having the big, famous, name driven Cabernets that we all know ( and are $250/bottle)… here is about the wine. And not just the wine, but the amazing people who grow and produce the wine. Honestly, shopping here is the next best thing to being in the vineyard!

I love this shop! I cant find wines like this anywhere else -- they have a wide selection of wines from around the world, including the usual favourites and some unique and unusual bottles from small producers both in the US and abroad. The quality is excellent across the board, and they are always great value. Ryan, Mike, and Joe provide fantastic service and excellent recommendations no matter what youre looking for. Ive spent a lot of time in wine shops through studying for various wine credentials and this is the best Ive found for selection, value, and service. As a longtime customer of Enoteca la Storia I was thrilled that the owners now have a dedicated bottle shop. This was my first stop when searching for a specific bottle during my WSET studies. I love coming here. Joe and the team have done a great job developing a broad selection of wines across all price ranges and many regions (although a slight lean towards continental bottles relative to the CA-centricity of their local competition). And the items are available online if you dont want to come in (which would be a travesty but to each his/her own).In addition to the great wine selection and nice tasting environment, I personally enjoy talking Joes ear off about music and listening to the eclectic music selection in the store.

Enoteca is the best local spot to find a cultivated variety of domestic and international wines. As a long time customer of their wine bar, I have always trusted their ability to help me find a wine that I would enjoy, and the wine shop takes that to a new level. I love that I can go in and find a delicious wine for $15-25 (and they have a ton of options in that price range), but I can also find great champagne and other sparklings, as well as fancier wines if I want to splurge a bit. I love the Enoteca Direct for all of my wine needs. We came across Enoteca Direct during vovid..what a blessings ! they had Zoom wine tastings on which you picked up your sample bottles before the video. we learn so much about Wines especially Italian . one meeting beget another and visiting the store we bought wine weekly . you can get great wine bargains or high end dependent on your spending. we liked the deals and every bottles has details to guide your tastes . Wine meetings helped you get to know brands styles etc but even without that they are extremely knowledgeable. The thing i liked was they didn’t pull me to the high end barolo but what i wanted to spend but got great quality wine. We live in aptos but go over the hill snd stock up! please try them. Enoteca Direct sponsors online, virtual wine tastings for which they sell tasting kits - four ounce samples of the wines to be discussed. Online, they have their own knowledgeable staff, often accompanied by principals of the wineries and PaulaL, their intrepid importer who knows the winemakers personally. Its an innovative and highly effective format, not only during pandemic isolation, but should endure into the new normal future. At the store, when I pick up a few bottles of the wines I enjoyed most at their tastings, the same friendly staff exchange observations and extra advice about the tasted wines and their other stock. Its like having a world of wine in your family!

This place is a pure gem. Ryan will go out of his way to ensure that you enjoy a good bottle (going as far as offering to deliver tasking kits to downtown SJ for free). Enoteca Direct offers interesting wines from all around the world, and the prices are more than reasonable. Cab, Pinot and Chard lovers will easily find something they like, and so will wine geeks (wine from Cyprus, anyone?). But Ill tell you what I like most about this place: the monthly wine tastings are such a good value that I dont understand how they even happen. For about 40 dollars, you get to taste five to six high-flying Italian wines, some of which sell for more than a hundred dollars a bottle (Brunello, Barolo, Barbaresco, Taurasi, etc.). And the tasting kits easily serve two people. Do yourself a favor and give this place a try! This independent wine store with passionate staff deserves your support.

For years Id relied on a NYC wine merchant for a well curated and high quality selection of Italian wines. Then ELS opened shop in downtown SJ and I was able to say goodbye to cross country shipping forever. I am in love with this wine shop!! It’s the perfect spot to stop in just before a dinner party for the perfect affordable small production wine you won’t see in the big box grocery stores. This shop is a neighborhood go to for “date night” wine especially when I’m board with the selection elsewhere. The shopkeepers are super knowledgeable about food pairings and if you are really nice, they might even pour you a sample!!!
