Dr. Downs is extremely thorough in his examination. He’s very knowledgeable and is always concerned that you understand what he looks for in the testing. He never rushes his examination. He is very professional and personal. His staff is nothing short of amazing. They too take the time to make sure that you understand the payment process and if you do get a new pair of glasses that the fit is correct and any other needs with the lenses is what you want. I highly recommend Dr. Downs to anyone who needs an eye doctor.

Everyone at the front desk was very friendly and the process for check in was super quick and easy. Same goes for my actual appointment. Very smooth and quick process, but I never felt rushed in anyway. It’s very comforting how Doctor Lovcik remembers me and my parents and I’m sure many of his other patients, if not all of them. I will continue to choose this optometrist over any other!

I started going to Dr. Downs over a year ago. He is so nice and very patient. They did tests that I never had before to check the health of my eyes. His staff is friendly, helpful and patient in helping choose your new glasses. They have beautiful frames to choose from. They also gave me a discount since I don’t have eye insurance. I have been a patient of Dr. Downs for 20+ years. Having recently moved out of California, I flew back to see Dr. D for my annual vision exam and contact lens order. I’m what’s known as “highly myopic” and exceedingly difficult to correct. He is invariably able to get me to see 20/20! I am so grateful to be under his expert care, and will continue to return for my annual checkup. Nice people too to bottom very patient. I had about a 15 minute wait and we started the exam. Dr was NOT in a hurry to his time explaining my eyesight and giving a comprehensive exam. My experience has always been wonderful here. When I was married 15 years ago I started seeing Dr. Downs, who has been my husbands optometrist since he was a little kid! Trust me when I tell you, he is wonderful. Very personable, professional, & explains everything so that I can understand it. The whole office is very clean, & the staff is wonderful. My whole family has been going to see Dr. Downs for the past three years, ever since we moved to California. I did my research at that time and found Dr. Downs through his off the chart reviews on Yelp. All the raving reviews were spot on -- I will never switch to another optometrist, now that we have Dr. Downs. I am fairly particular and critical of service providers, particularly in the medical profession - he is only one of a few I can speak so highly of.His office is run professionally and every person from the front desk, to the technicians (and Dr. Downs himself), are friendly, attentive and thoughtful. Appointments are usually on time and scheduling is easy. Very rarely do you find a doctor who spends time explaining your diagnosis and answering questions, without feeling rushed.Each time I visit or take my teenage son, we feel like we are his only patients and he makes sure we are comfortable with everything. Jenn, Sergio and the rest of the staff make sure that all of our questions are answered and that we have everything we need, from contacts to prescription glasses. They also work to make sure we utilize our insurance effectively and explain all the options available to us. Its very rare that you find an entire staff that makes you feel like they are there to serve you, and that they enjoy what they do.In the past year, I can count on one hand how many reviews I have written and most of them arent favorable. Thats why you can trust that Dr. Downs is clearly a standout in my book.

I wish I could tell you that the service is horriable and to stay away but the only reason why I would do that would be to make sure I can get an appointment quickly. But alas, its amazing and getting an appointment isnt too hard.Dr. Downs is amazingly knowledge and kind. He takes the time to get to know his patients and their needs. Ive been seeing Dr. Downs for more than 10 years and will be so sad when he retires. Weve worked to make sure my contact lenses are just right, even though I have an allergy to some. The Dr. even loaned me a pair of glasses when I couldnt wear my contacts and was waiting for my glasses to arrive.I highly recommend Dr. Downs and his staff. They are always super friendly and welcoming. I have come here for my first pair of glasses and so on. They are always super helpful on picking new glasses that will fit your face shape and style. Dr. Lovcik is super kind and really knowledgable about his practice. I have the Neurolenses, and I cannot recommend them enough. I had crazy headaches and eye soreness that completely disappeared with my new prescription. They are expensive but worth every penny.

I have been going to this optometrist office for years and absolutely love them. Everyone is always super nice and always willing to spend the time to answer any questions you have especially on your insurance and whats covered and whats not. I like that I can ask that question and they can point me in the right direction of glasses that I say are in my price range and the ladies will even give an honest opinion if you ask them which glasses look better on you out of several you have picked out. I see Dr. Downs and think hes great and highly recommend him. All the staff is super friendly. The other optometrist is always very friendly and says hi to me and smiling with his patients so I dont think you can go wrong with him either.

They care so much about their patients and their satisfaction it is unbelievable. At a time when businesses seem to be all about volume and charging as much as they can for as little service as possible walking into this office it is the polar opposite. Amazing care from a highly trained an experienced eye care professional and a man who treats every patient like family. If you need eye care, Dr. Downs is the best. Sergio did all the initial testing for glaucoma, peripheral vision, and maybe more. Also a new test for how my eyes work (or don’t work) together—-a possible source of my chronic headaches. It didn’t take long, either. He’s an excellent listener and makes sure he has answered your questions. Bonus: he’s a really nice guy. My exam went well, and he gave me options. Linda helped me choose frames, and took time to make sure they fit well and looked good with my facial structure. All in all, a wonderful experience! I’d recommend them without hesitation.

Tests were good and thorough done by Alex. He conducted the tests well and was nice being I was oblivious to the instructions. Dr Downs was really nice and informative and when the test was too much he took a break which I appreciate. The results were reviewed and thorough. The tech that helped me look for glasses she was really awesome. She worked with my budget and used my insurance to the fullest so I can take advantage of it. I can’t say enough good things about this group. They always get me right in at appointment time with no waiting. The staff is friendly and competent. They always answer all my questions and never seem rushed. I have been seeing Dr. Downs since the early 80s and he takes the utmost care of my eyes. I have a few issues and he recommended a few surgeons so I could get more than one opinion. One surgeon suggested surgery right away and the other said let’s wait and see if it gets worse. After Dr. Downs looked at all the tests, spoke to the surgeons and me, we decided to wait. That was 3 years ago and the issue has not changed. Dr. Downs saved me from unnecessary surgery.

I came in with my 3 year old daughter for a second opinion because the first doctor we went to (at another place) said she needed glasses when we went in asking why her eye is twitching.. I went in just to get a routine check up. Dr Downs showed me my current vision and what my vision should be like. I was amazed at the difference. I thought I had great vision but soon realized it could be much better. Jennifer was the best when it came to finding a pair of glasses and prescription sunglasses to buy. Selected this center after reviewing yelp reviews. Extremely disappointing experience. After a recent insurance change, had to select a new OD as my previous one was now out of network. Completely different experience from what I have experienced the past 20 years with previous practitioner, Dr. Charm. This was a hurried visit after waiting 20 minutes past my appointment time - shuttled in and out very quickly. Preliminary tests by the assistant were basically the same, but OD only spent 10 minutes with me, doing a minimum amount of testing, and did not thoroughly summarize his findings. Previous OD did a much more thorough intense exam and always provided a detailed summary of findings - I usually spent about 40 minutes with him. After exam, I was introduced to the individual to discuss frame/lens options. She gave me misinformation about my insurance which I clarified with my insurance company after I left (the incorrect information was about the definition of calendar year according to my insurance companys benefits, which made a BIG difference when I could order additional glasses). Also, when I ultimately asked for my new prescription, and compared it to my previous prescription, mysteriously my eyesight had improved and I no longer had a stigmatism (imagine that - without any surgery). I questioned this, and was met with some annoyance by several individuals, and no clear explanation except sometimes this happens. Really? I also was diagnosed with a condition that my previous OD had not diagnosed in over 20 years of annual visits. So all in all, a very disturbing exam, and I will be asking my insurance company to reinstate my benefit so I can select another OD practice.

Ive seen Dr. Downs twice before, hes a fine Optometrist - professional and personable and his practice has a wide variety of frame styles and lenses to choose from. My only complaint be that they didnt have the case for my glasses in stock. They provided me a generic one and his staff said theyd call me when it arrived but they never did. Still no big deal, the one I have works fine. Also, going there gives me an excuse to stop into my favorite bike shop next door - Rock N Road Cyclery.

-Incorrect prescription.-Paid for additional features that I didn’t get.-Does the Doc & Staff know what they’re doing?-Is COVID to blame for all the mistakes?I was referred by a family friend who strongly recommended this office. The staff is nice and the doctor is friendly. Unfortunately mistakes were made with my prescription glasses. I purchased eyeglasses and sunglasses that had all the features offered for additional purchase (anti glare, blue light filter, transition lenses etc). After a few weeks I realized both pairs didn’t help my vision. I came in and the doctor confirmed he made a mistake and made it stronger than needed. I first left my sunglasses to have them put on the correct lens . This process took about 1 week. Now I had to leave my eyeglasses and do the same 1 week process. That week I used my sunglasses to see all day and night. It was inconvenient doing this especially when driving at night and this caused migraines. Days later I picked up the eyeglasses and the prescription was correct, I could see. After a few hours I realized that I was missing a feature (transition lenses). I paid hundreds of dollars for features like this and it didn’t have that. This time they’re letting me hold on to these glasses until they fix their mistake to make the lens and I don’t have to rely on my sunglasses, how generous. I will have to make another commute back to Anaheim Hills to pick them up. Now I don’t know if my eyeglasses & sunglasses “really” has all the added features I purchased. The $ 1,000 eyeglasses/sunglasses I paid cash for could really just be a regular $ 500 feature less glasses, who knows..Not sure if I’m a isolated incident but if you purchased these extra features be sure to confirm it someway so you’re not spending more than you get. I will probably have to return to my previous optometrist in a third world country of the Philippines or whichever country I’ll be visiting and have them confirm if they really have it on my next annual check up (by the way their advanced technologies allow lenses to be made same day instead of 1 week). At least I know there won’t be any mistakes and quality control.P.S. They did OFFER a apology.1 extra star because the doc is a trum p supporter.

Been going to Dr Gary Lovcik for over 10 years now and he’s still the sweet, knowledgeable guy as he was the day I started going to his practice. His equipment is modern, his staff is efficient and I never feel like I’m being upsold for pricier contacts or glasses.

Dr. Gary Lovcik is awesome!Yearly eye appt today and he said my vision is about the same. He didnt pressure me to get new glasses which I appreciate as I am tired today after a busy day and night last night. I am going to stop by when I can enjoy looking at new glasses.He did say I have the start of cataracts in both eyes which is new for me but he said it is something to just monitor for now.I so much appreciate him. He was the person who spotted another eye condition I have that I see a retinal specialist for now yearly. Highly, highly recommend him.

This is a safe and hygienic environment. Everyone from the front to the back office staff and Dr. Lovcik is warm, helpful, patient and caring. Thanks Dr. Lovcik for helping me with my migraines by prescribing Neuro lenses! I could not survive without them! What a help to my every day life! I highly recommend getting an exam if you suffer from migraines. It changed my life!
