The food is great. The server tried but … I mean it was really really slow like 45 mins from ordering… but super yummy. Lots of parking across the street. Very pricy for the service but still worth it. Bread is weird. They did give us ice cream for the birthday we were celebrating and it was great. I’m not trying to talk bad. It was a good experience overall.

We were in the mood for Italian food and decided to try Allegro in La Verne for first time. It was by far the best Italian food we have had. The restaurant is beautiful, spacious, nicely decorated and clean. The service was excellent, Nicky was great! There is plenty of free parking. The food was outstanding. From the bruschetta, to the meatball trio, to the pastas and desserts…amazing!

I brought my girlfriend here for Valentines Day at about 4:15 p.m., since she loves authentic Italian pasta food, and this establishment had great reviews on here. Upon our arrival, we were happily greeted by our host, and though we didnt have a reservation, we were taken in and seated right away. A random server, which we believed was going to be our server, came to serve us a glass of water and offered to take our drink order if we were ready. We stated we werent ready, and she said our server would be with us soon. Eventually, we got our server Nicki and asked what we were going to order. The food was good, and I could hear Eduardo in the cocina cooking up our food. However, our service couldve been better. Right away, we noticed the difference in service amongst the other tables. Especially the table right next to us, there was a pleasant welcome exchange, and the house specials were explained to them, as well as the drink menu. All within 3 feet from us. I did not appreciate the change in character from the server between the two tables. It seemed as if there was a hierarchy among us, and my girlfriend and I were the lesser of the two. Plus, the bread we ordered, half was cold, and the other half was warm, as if they combined two separate orders to make ours. All in all, our customer service was sub-par and would not recommend.

Quaint place in La Verne very close to the University of La Verne. The food is consistently good. Great lunch specials and friendly staff. The prices, like so many places, have really gone up. Overall a great place to have lunch.

Good ambiance and service. Food was mediocre. I had the Capelinni ala Checca. It was bland and boring for the price of the dish. I tried calling the business in the afternoon several times during operating hours but no one answered. Come on. At least hire someone to answer a phone. That’s pretty weak tea.Olive Garden would have been a better option.

We ordered the Capellini Al Salmone. It came garnished with a crown of basil and was thoroughly delightful. The lunch serving was very generous. I was surprised that bread service was an extra charge but it was a tasty assortment. Located in a charming shopping district with free parking, my only critique was that the first thing you see when you walk in is the servers station. The seating area was attractive and comfy.

Mediocre food and subpar service at best. The whole experience was underwhelming. We ordered calamari for an appetizer like was lukewarm, bland and the marinara sauce was watery. Server didn’t check on us or check if we liked it until we were almost done with the entrees. They charged for bread service which was old and stale. It was a waste of money and time. I don’t recommend ever going there.

My husband and I tried this restaurant after walking past on another evening. We are still raving about it days later. From the moment we stepped up to the hostess, to being seated and greeted, served our drinks and food, everything was outstanding. The wine selected was perfect and both our dishes, the penne explosion, and bow tie shrimp plate were beyond expectations. Every bite was nice and hot even as we made our way through the dish. Our servers were attentive and polite throughout our stay. I will highly recommend to anyone looking for a great evening out, you won’t be disappointed.

So I took my wife out for her birthday. We ordered 2 meals. She had scallops and I ordered Penne Explosive. Her dinner arrived and mine was not. Somehow my order wasn’t prepared. So I told her to eat hers. Cold scallops suck. 10 minutes later my pasta dish came. There was about a cup of watered down sauce under my pasta. It appears that they rushed the dish and didn’t drain the pasta. My wife liked her scallops. I took most of my meal home and will salvage for tomorrow’s dinner. Our waitress was nice and apologetic. I expect better.

Great Italian spot! We sat on the patio and it was lovely. Started with a sampler which had charcuterie, risotto balls, calamari and bruschetta...perfect for sharing! We then tried the pesto tortellini, baked ziti, and another pasta...huge and delicious dishes. We fished with some gelato. Everything was great!!

Overall a very disappointing experience dining at Cafe Allegro last night. Our table ordered the chicken ravioli, shrimp scampi, and chicken piccata and all 3 dishes were terrible. You can’t charge 30 dollars a plate for ravioli that was hard as a rock and overcooked shrimp scampi that had zero flavor. The chicken piccata dish also came out stone cold. The price of our meal didn’t align with the quality of food. Lastly, we were treated rudely by the manager. We were seated at a poorly placed table that was right next to their kitchen door. My mom’s seat kept getting hit by the door as staff entered and exited the kitchen. The manager had the audacity to scold my mom for being in the way!!! Maybe don’t place a table and seat in a spot that would make it uncomfortable for your patrons to sit and enjoy their meal. The terrible and overpriced food and lack of kindness from their staff was enough to warrant a review. The only redeeming quality was the waitress behind the bar making some good martinis. Hopefully cafe allegro figures out how to operate and can adjust their food so the city of La Verne can have a quality local Italian spot. But we won’t be back anytime soon.

We waited over 1 and 1/4 hours for our food. 4 other tables got sat AFTER WE ORDERED and they GOT THEIR FOOD BEFORE US!!!! Talk about incompetent. Had to ask for a missing set of silverware and the waitress said I was bossy; REALLY?! asked for the manager a couple times and never came over till after we paid. Figures. Looks like a couple other tables also had a similar experience. Ive eaten at restaurants all over the world from dives to Michelin stars and never have been treated so bad. 2 thumbs down 👎👎.

Restaurant personnel is very accommodating to any requests you have. In this particular visit I sat outside which they always keep tidy and orderly despite people walking through as it is still a public sidewalk. I prefer eating here during the week as during the weekend it does get hectic. Food was great and portions were perfect for what I paid.

Hands down the best food in the whole city. If they are busy, you might have to wait a little bit, but every second is worth it. Ive tried at least 15 different items that qualify as the best Italian food Ive ever had. The lunch specials are VERY REASONABLE as well. You cant find that quality of food for that price anywhere! Cafe Allegro is a restaurant from where no one should expect good service. Seating wait times are typically high, but are increased when the host inputs phone numbers in their systems wrong. The food is (generally) excellent once you have waited the allotted 70mins from the time you place your order. Drink water sparingly as one glass will be the only one you receive. Tonight we spent a total of 2.5hrs at Cafe Allegro which would not have been so bad if the temperature had not gotten to 64 without heating. It seems that service gets progressively worse the more times we visit. Seating times may improve if they develop a reservation system.

My husband and I have been coming here for 30 years. We have always loved the food. Tonight was the exception, we were so dissatisfied with our dinner. We ordered tuttimare which is the linguini with seafood.Tonight it was sub par and thats generous. Usually it has two big scallops in it, tonight it had one and it was cut in half (I guess the chef thought we wouldnt notice) it usually has small shrimps and a few large shrimps. Tonight it just had small shrimps in it. I might add it had a lot of tomatoes in it. I dont know, maybe they use them as a filler.When we asked the server what was going on she said she didnt know but she would ask the manager. She did, we saw her talking to him, he never came over to talk to us. When we asked that he come over to talk to us he finally did. He told us that he manages 4 restaurants and he wasnt sure what was in this dish. What, hes the manager for crying out loud. He said he was sorry, thats it.Im sorry thats not acceptable. This dish is not cheap. In my opinion of you are going to cut corners like this then the price needs to be adjusted.What a shame. This has always been our favorite place to eat, we will think twice about going back.I really do hope that the owner reads this and reaches out to us.

This place has a good little Italian home feel to it. The old house that has been converted to a restaurant has kept its original character. They have both indoor and outdoor seating.The menu is versatile and has many good pasta choices paired with seafood, chicken, beef, lamb, appetizers, soups, and desserts. The full bar serves cocktails, wines, and beers.We tried the linguini tutumare, pasta with shrimp, scallops, muscles, clams, tuna, in a tomato base sauce, huge portion in a bowl. Also had the pasta salmone, angel hair pasta with salmon in basil butter cream sauce. We couldnt finish our dinners..Great leftover for lunch...Tiramisu was made just right, not too sweet with some chocolate shavings on top.Great food, great atmosphere, great service. First off Ive been coming here for quite some time but it had been a little over a year since last time I came. I was totally disappointed in the chicken marsala. Honestly it had no taste and it wasnt the typical recipe. What was really disappointing is, the bread is actually considered an extra charge and is called table side bread what the heck? Its not like they make it at your table! They just bring it to you in a small basket. Bottom line food isnt worth the price, and penny pinching customers for bread is over doing it! Best part were rhe servers thats it. Wont be taking my family again and or wouldnt recommend this place again.

Why 3 stars and not 5 stars. The service is really not good for this kind of restaurant. I know my first complain is not the fault of the restaurant but it is too loud inside. It is quite difficult to speak with your partner/friends. For ordering our drinks we received a bad look from the waitress because we just ordered water. When we were finally ready about our dishes, she again gave me a strange look because I asked her to remove some items from the dish. I felt judged twice and I think she should change her attitude towards clients habits. Fortunately there was a young waitress who cared about us. The other waitress was a joke. Food is tasty but too pricey. The menu isn’t huge so be ready to accommodate yourself to what they have.

March 17, 2021 - This was our first visit to Allegro La Verne and we were quite impressed and pleasantly surprised at this restaurants unusual food quality and well prepared, delicious dishes. For our appetizers, we ordered fried calamari and a caprese salad, and both were wonderfully prepared. For our entrees, my husband ordered a seafood pasta dish, which was excellent, my mother ordered the stuffed artichoke appetizer, which was a meal in itself and excellent as well. I ordered the spare rib dish, which was just OK, as the spare rib was a little tough. Overall, the food preparation and quality was exceptional, excluding the spare rib and the spumoni ice cream, which surprisingly did not remotely resemble the taste and texture of this classic Italian ice cream. Our dinning experience at Allegro La Verne would have been outstanding, but regrettably, the service that night was poor. Even though there were many hostesses available and only a few patrons to serve at the time, we had to remind our waitress to bring items we had requested, such as the wine, salt, etc . At one point, I also had to get up to find someone to remove the empty appetizer plates from our crowded table. All things considered, the excellent food preparation, with its superior quality and taste merit that we visit this restaurant again. After all, its possible that the poor service that night may have been an isolated event. Hopefully, next time well have good reasons to give them five stars instead.

This place turned out to be quite the disappointment. I heard some decent recommendations so we tried it. Ordered the sausage pasta and this had a bizarre over powering pepper flavour which just didnt work. The spaghetti bolognese just tasted similar to the pasta dish, so nothing distinct.Staff were friendly however but this place is very average Italian food at best.

This place was super delicious. I recommend having a reservation or else you end up sitting outside, which isnt back once the close it up and have the heaters going. The hostess was super amazing and accommodating us with no reservation. We had to sit outside however the hostess brought out 2 table clothes for me and my daughter to at least stay warm while eating our dinner. Food was very delicious I highly recommend the fettuccine alfredo with chicken! That was my favorite. Prices are worth it! For sure Ill come back here. Its a nice romantic place however it was kid and pet friendly too.

We loved the atmosphere and when the food came, it was very good. However, it took one hour to get the food. We were a large party of 10, but we were one of few tables that were occupied. Additionally, we had to ask them to take our order, for bread (we were starving), to refill our water/coffee, to take our dirty dishes and to light the candles on our table. Basically everything! In other words, we were ignored unless we asked for something. Very poor service :( They should REALLY considering investing in hiring a few people who could assist the waitresses bus tables. Steaks were colded, took a long time to bring it out. We were a party of 4, all steaks were cold and rare we all ordered medium. Had a really great time here with my kid and her mother. Especially when it comes to the Waiters. It may be bit pricey, but hell its worth it. Weve been here many times for lunch and always had a great experience. Tonight was our first time for dinner, sorry to report service was awful. We were ignored and a couple that arrived 20 minutes after us was tended to before us, we let it go as an oversight but service only got worse. We were in La Verne for a business lunch, and we dropped by Caffe Allegro. You would not know where it is at as it is off a side street. A hidden gem for fairly good Italian food. The place was busy and if you have a large group, probably not the best place due to its size, however for normal groups it is fine. The waitress was friendly and warm. Let us know about menu items of note. The establishment is on the smaller size, so you are close to folks, so if you have the loud relative after a few drinks, probably not the best choice as everyone will hear you. LOL. We ordered the Chicken Marsala with Fettuccine and the Salmon. I added bellbeppr, grilled onions and garlic to the Chicken dish. When it came out, even the waitress commented that she was going to have to try it this way. As it not only looks divine from a plating viewpoint, it smelled amazing.The salmon was also cooked very nicely and had no issues with it. The side salad that we ordered could easily feed two people. Very generous. However, the star of this meal was the Chicken Marsala designed by me. LOL. The flavor of all the ingredients was amazing! My friend dipped her salmon into the sauce to taste it and then she wished she got exactly what I ordered. Cooked perfectly, served excellently, and devoured with much pleasure! No room for dessert on this visit, however, we will look next time. This is a great find, and only locals would know unless you looked it up and I would recommend to others to look it up.

I was taken here by a friend a few months ago when the weather was perfect. We sat outside with flowers and shrubs giving every table a sense of privacy. (Although it is on a main street in La Verne) There are so many choices on the menu it is hard to make a choice. After much perusal of the menu, I selected Farfalle Al Gamberretti. My dinner companion ordered a sort of Italian surf and turf. We were planning on dessert so we didnt order appetizers or salads. Our dinner arrived even before we had a chance to catch up with each other. Mine came in a large pasta bowl. It was delicious! My pasta had at least 15-20 large shrimp, asparagus tips, mushrooms, sun dried tomatoes, and roasted garlic. The portion could have fed 2 very hungry men. I couldnt have ordered better. My companions dinner looked very good too. He had a filet that was huge, a lobster tail, mashed potatoes, green beans and a half tomato with seasonings and panko breadcrumbs. The steak was cooked to order, much too well done for me but came the way he preferred. Needless to say we both had leftovers to take home. Our plan to get the Tiramisu to share for dessert was thrown out the door. The food was so good, we didnt have room for anything else. We will be returning so next time I will for sure order the Tirimisu. If you want some food, whole and prepared impeccably, Try this restaurant in the heart of Old La Verne, you wont be disappointed.

The atmosphere is delightful. The service is inviting and attentive. The food does range from fine to wow! On the bland side is Totellini al Brodo. What do you expect? It is chicken soup. On the so rich that you will probably need to bring half of it home is Capensante - sea scallops in a garlic sauce that is so flavorful and vibrant that you will smell like garlic for days - maybe have to sleep on the couch that evening. Know your tastes. The wines by the class are surprisingly not overly priced and pathetic.

I work for Postmates and I got a call for this restaurant. It was odd that it asked me to order items that would require an extended wait. When I arrived I asked to place a to go order. As she asked for my order, she interrupted herself and asked if I work for Postmates. When I replied, yes, I was told they dont take Postmates orders. I asked what the reason was and 2 waitresses responded with, no Postmates? Understandable for the app ordering but I was there in person. Im doubting they owned the place since they would accept other to go orders so they refused money. Owners arent normally that stupid. Essentially, I was the reason for the, we reserve the right to refuse service to anyone sign, but I did nothing but ask to order. Personally, I will never return to Cafe Allegro based on how rude the staff was in explaining a seemingly unexplainable prejudice. There are plenty of other restaurants which train their employees to communicate with their customers.
