Great location, friendly service, very thoughtful property with a focus on the guest experience. The no contact check in/out is well thought out. My only recommendation is to confirm your room payment in advance as some web booking sites do not charge until your arrival. So since there is no physical check in person on location and how automation can be Id make sure you confirm your reservation and payment in advance. There is a 24hr phone number to call for any issues. The property and the rooms are well maintained, clean, walking distance to the marina.

Great hotel! Would definitely recommend staying here! They have the best customer service I’ve ever encountered as far as hotels go! Super friendly staff, easiest room check in, comfortable beds and impeccable water pressure in the shower! I will definitely stay here again when in the area.

Ive stayed at Alder Inn a couple of times now, once as a couple and the other solo. Both times I found the rooms to be clean, comfortable, warm and reasonably well equipped with the usual towels, soap, shampoo but also a little fridge and a microwave and a coffee machine. The TV works too! I didnt get to meet the owners but they were in touch via text the whole time, gave me detailed instructions and were super helpful with anything else I needed. Its super close to Heavenly, about 30m out from Sierra at Tahoe and more importantly, walking distance from Red Hut Cafe and Free bird Chai, both incredible morning spots. Overall - super convenient, clean and moderately priced, would strongly recommend.

My room is very dark. Some lights can not be turned on. There are also issues with the heating. Luckily, the weather is not too cold. Other than that, everything was fine.

Bedsheet had stains, there were spiders in the room, the bathroom had dirty water coming out of taps and the room heater felt like it was going to blow up any minute.We were planning on staying here for multiple days but after a day we couldnt stay here due as it was inhabitable. When we communicate this to the management they scammed us and only gave a small refund and charged us almost double the price of what was being shown online for that day. We emailed them with our concerns but they never bothered to reply.This is the first time I had to leave early as it was very uncomfortable to stay at this place. I am still surprised how this has a high rating considering the terrible hygiene, safety and management. Will also add some pictures which I took of the place shortly.

I have stayed here on 2 separate occasions for work and the location, amenities and service cannot be beat--especially for the price! The bed was very comfortable, Ive never had a problem with noise, and felt safe and cozy in my room each night. Room has always been spotless and stocked with coffee, soap, towels etc. I will continue to stay here and highly recommend to others!

Passing through Tahoe on vacation.Booked the room about 2 weeks in advance through Expedia (my go-to for booking stays). Thought Alder Inn was cute and decided to stay there rather a casino hotel. Check in was easy. Place was cute. Walked in the room and the temperature inside was probably 90 degrees! Started looking for the thermostat and found it. It had a sticker on it that said HEAT ONLY. Immediately called the office and was told there was no A/C in their rooms. They said this was an amenity and wasnt listed in their descriptions. We were told to open the windows and use the fan provided. WOW!!! I tried to book another room but either they were full or in excess of $400 per night. Since I wasnt going to be refunded at Alder Inn, we decided to stay thinking it wouldnt be that bad once the sun went down. It was a terrible night, sweltering heat and sweaty sleep. We closed the window due to safety and traffic noise. All I can say is, summer traveler beware. If you want to stay cool, book somewhere else.

We werent too sure what to expect, and we were pleasantly surprised! Check-in was easy, and the room was cute and clean. The property was quiet and small; while we didnt use any of the fire pits or grill, the pool and hot tube were great. Parking was easy, walking distance to so much - great food, distance from the lake. Wed happily stay there again!

There was no person in office. I had to call Sam to ask questions. On first sight it looked okay. But the upkeep is very poor. The pool area was trashed, the grounds were a disaster, no maintenance. Room was very cluttered with de no renovations made in many years. Found lots of hair in tub. A fan provided to cool room was ancient and loud. I cancelled for next day. Much more but….

Visited South Lake Tahoe in June 2023. Booked Alder Inn because location was ideal for crossing points to where I wanted to visit and for nearby places. Inn is quiet, simple looking. The decorated outdoor area was pleasing.Our room was located on the 2nd floor. Keyless entry, 2 beds, 1 full bathroom. Upon entry, I saw 2 water bottles on the desk, and one was opened. So Im not sure if it was left as courtesy (free water?) or the housekeeper forgot to pick up and toss. We left it as is when checking out. Small fridge, towels, TV, available.Pictures on 3rd party sites showed a pool, but when we arrived, the pool was run down and closed off.Beds are definitely on the older side, sloped inward when sleeping, not comfortable.Check-in was contact-less, which I didnt mind.

Great staff and outstanding location. The room has all you need except for AC. It was hot too!Water pressure is low so be prepared for that aspect.There are games and activities for the family to enjoy including darts, Cornhole, and an oversized connect game as well as fire tables with chairs.

My recent experience at this hotel was extremely frustrating due to a complete absence of water in the morning. The hotel failed to notify guests about ongoing water construction, leaving us unable to complete our morning routines. After complaining, they connected the water, only to disconnect it again while I was showering.I was waiting 15 minutes in the shower for the water to come back on. I even had to use bottled water to brush my teeth. Registering guests without addressing such a critical problem is unacceptable. Potential guests should be aware of these issues and consider alternative accommodations.Although we had a 3/night reservation, we had to move out just after the first night and spend most of our day to find a new place to stay Since the local manager couldn’t handle the issue properly.

To start off, checking in was super easy as this was my first time booking a hotel by myself. The front desk clerk was super nice and made me feel welcome. The room was super clean and smelled really nice unlike some hotels I’ve stayed in, in the past. The surfaces were extremely clean and dust free. The room itself was cozy and always warm which was nice after a cold day in the snow. The only issue was find a parking spot. Other than that I would definitely recommend this Inn to other people and come back again!

I saw a black bear on the adjacent pavement, so my trip was totally worth it haha!4. Theres a little well lit sitting area for night times!Cons:1. The room is pretty basic. Im not sure what an average south lake Tahoe motel costs, but I felt it was a little overpriced for what it provided. But I had a cat with me, so maybe I had to pay more anywhere I went.2. Theres no AC in the rooms and it can get hot at night.3. The swimming pool was not working.

The walls were a little thin so you could hear people having a loud conversation next door but TBF thats a really small niggle. Its a bit out of the way of the main shopping/restaurants of Heavenly Village but that actually was a good thing as it felt a little more relaxed and less hypey.

The first stay was a 5-star experience that is moving this review to a 3-star up from a 1-star.Again this year we were pretty happy with everything. It was a little hot with no AC and mediocre air circulation with the door closed, but it was manageable.The main problem was that the mattress was so uncomfortable that we literally slept on the floor. We have never experienced anything quite like that. We decided to do a 4 hour drive home late at night after a long day at the lake rather than stay for the last night because we wanted some actual sleep. We tried calling the inn while out on the lake to see if we could swap rooms since we know not all of their mattresses are like this, but it would always just go to voicemail (which we left). Were spending time outdoors the whole day so we never had a chance to talk with them in person during normal hours.Its really disappointing reading a passive aggressive response from the owner to another reviewer who experienced our same problems with their mattress about a year ago.Despite this, Id probably still come back if they just replaced their defunct mattresses. Thats how much we liked the place.

The room seemed clean and had some amenities, however the TV was tiny, the carpet was stained and worn in spots (felt gross to walk on barefooted) the shower head was immovable and set too high up for me being 54 and the bed was too hard for my taste. The pool and spa are out of commission, yet its summer time. That being said, check in and out was flawless, text messages keep you up to date and the staff did ask for suggestions to better our stay, if we had any. Location was good.

I absolutely love this place!!! I booked a room at the Alder Inn for my birthday, in the family suite, and I felt like I was in my very own house! The atmosphere was so cozy and welcoming, new appliances, streaming, great views, sitting outside in the patio with the fire at night surrounded by all the tress drinking wine was the best!! The staff was very friendly and attended to every need with no hesitation, whether if it was for random information or extra coffee! The manager Cristina was so sweet and made sure that everything ran smoothly during my whole stay. I definitely recommend the Alder Inn and I cannot wait to plan my next vacation because I am coming back for sure!

We had a lovely weekend at Lake Tahoe and stayed at the Alder Inn. We normally opt to stay in larger type hotels but wanted to stay somewhere small and local. We are so happy we chose to stay here! It is such a cute place with so many special touches and plenty of on-site amenities like a ping-pong table, pool/hot tub, fire pits and more! Everything was extremely clean, parking was very convenient, and the bed was SO comfortable! It’s location is great for walking to nearby restaurants and activities. The service we received at check- in and check-out was professional and friendly. We were able to get some great recommendations on places to eat and activities to do. I would not hesitate to stay here again and recommend it to anyone.

There is an outdoor swimming pool (small) and a hot tub opens 10am-10pm, which is lovely for warm / cold weather.The location is great! We loved this place! Its very quaint, super clean, comfortable accommodations and really great management.They have bikes to loan out, fire pits with chairs set out around them and games to play. The whole atmosphere felt like you were in your own neighborhood and not at a hotel.There were several good restaurants within walking distance and the beach was a 10 minute walk. We had a lovely dinner nearby, then walked down to the water to watch the sunset.Each room had its own decor (we peeked into a few that were vacant! 😊) and they were all cute!Only 2 drawbacks.... Its right on Ski Run Blvd which is convenient, but tends to be noisy in the morning (but thankfully, quiet at night) and there are no A/C units. I can imagine that in the Summer, that it can be quite warm at night.Honestly, other than that, it was a wonderful place to stay for a very reasonable price! We will be back, thats for sure! 😊♥️

I was a bit hesitant staying here as I’ve never stayed at an Inn before but my partner and I wanted to go on a budget trip to Tahoe for my graduation celebration.This place was definitely great! :) As soon as you enter, there is a pool and hot tub with cute decor! We opted for contactless check in, so used a code to enter our room instead of a key. We stayed in the butterfly room and the room was spacious enough for us and very clean! They provided a microwave, mini fridge (we were able to store both frozen and non frozen food in there), a single serve k cup coffee maker in the room, cups, a big fan, toasty heater, bath robes and bath & body works products for use etc etc! I believe they had a basketball area with a bin with balls to use as a well a bbq area but we did not use those amenities. Parking is first come first serve, but we had no issue with that either but they offer overflow parking.Alder inn is extremely close to many food places and a very short walk to Whole Foods :)I stayed for 4 nights. I love this place and very budget friendly. I will definitely try to book here again if I ever come up to visit in the future. Thank you Alder Inn!

Excellent stay - perfect location, really well maintained rooms (just like what you see on the website) and grounds that are family friendly. Christina and Lee had outstanding service, during the booking, calling on the day of check-in to say the room was ready, and upon check-in with a friendly and warm greeting and tips about things to do. Perfect location with a short walk to the water and a 1.5 mile walk to the casinos, and plenty of restaurants and groceries within a few blocks. I travel quite a bit and this cozy and refreshed inn didnt disappoint. Well done Alder Inn!

I rated it 5 stars, because for what it is and what you pay, the experience and value match up. Dont expect a 5 star hotel, but rather a nice place for the cost. We really enjoyed our stay at the Alder Inn. The room was extremely clean, and the bathroom was newly remodeled and really clean. The staff was very friendly. We didnt arrive until after hours and they left us clean towels at the hot tub, and really, nice, warm robes were provided for use as well. The rooms were very nicely, and uniquely decorated and felt like home. It was very quiet, beds were very comfortable and location was close to great shopping with an IHop right around the corner for breakfast. Unlike the large, commercial hotels, it felt like we were staying a cabin resort in the woods. I highly recommend the Alder Inn, its the best hotel in Lake Tahoe, with reasonable rates.

Loved this hotel!!! It was off the main road whi h was nice and quiet but just a couple minutes drive to Heavenly Village. Our room was clean and nicely decorated. The pool was very clean. There was multiple tables and chairs out with fire pits ready for use. They have a BBQ you can use and even a horse shoe pit. The staff was super friendly. I would definitely recommend! Very charming, quiet and clean place to stay with at an affordable price!My son and I stayed in a downstairs unit which had 2, queen size beds. The room was very clean-beds in great condition with plenty of pillows. The surroundings were typical of Lake Tahoe-tall, green redwood trees gave plenty of shade, plus there were many flowers and a small rock garden in the front which added to the aesthetics.After arriving late, we easily found our envelope clearly marked with our name and having the key inside. Upon opening the door, we were greeted to a welcome basket and teddy bear on each bed. I also quickly noticed just how quite and very tranquil setting we had.This is definitely a beautiful place for any couple or family that wants to enjoy the beauty of Tahoe at a very reasonable price. Plus you are very close to many of the activities of South Shore Tahoe. Highly recommended.

Stayed here for two nights and all I can say is that our stay was lovely. When we arrived, Laura made me feel so welcome I restored my faith in humanity just a little bit. She also made sure to suggest activities and points of interest for us and provided a map to help visualize everything around lake tahoe. She also upgraded us to a king sized room free of charge! The rooms were cozy - nothing grand, but who cares! Outside, the trees make it look like the alder inn is a ski village, and with flags of many different countries adorned on each building, the whole place just screams comfort and tranquility. Not to mention its a less than 10 minute walk to the lake! This place also provides bicycles on a first come first serve basis (which i did not take advantage of, but maybe you will!) which is perfect for anyone planning to come in the summer or spring.As for pictures, anything you see on their website is literally what you can expect so I didnt feel the need to take pictures of anything for this review.Poorly written review aside, this hotel, this city, this area: beautiful. Stay here and come to the same conclusions I did. If i ever had a problem with my stay, its only because I could not afford to stay longer.

They had both pool and spa available during our stay.The rooms were not as well insulated from road noise and the road next to hotel was surprisingly well traveled.We stayed during a heat wave and the lack of air conditioning was noticeable.

We stayed at the Alder In a couple nights while skiing in Tahoe. We wanted something inexpensive, with a hot tub, and close to Heavenly. It was perfect. Not only did it fit the criteria, but it was also charming in a funky meets retro sort of way. They had lots of special cozy touches, the beds were comfortable and it was very clean. Amazing place and super nice staff.Stayed here only for one night, only because we had to move on but this place is just perfect. The rooms are amazing and super clean, well equipped and spacious. The bed is perfect, we had such a good sleep. There is heated pool and you can even take bikes for free. The staff is super friendly and so helpful and nice. The price is super cheap compared to what you get. I highly recommend it and I would happily stay there again.

My husband stayed here when we went to Tahoe to get married. It was amazing. Location was perfect. The owners awesome. When we left to go to our wedding we came back to chilled champagne and a sweet note from them. Our daughter was married when we was there and my husband and I stayed at the Alder Inn. I asked if we could have a small meet and greet afterwards and they said fine. We couldnt find any other place because of the Covid. The rooms were absolutely wonderful. They were very quaint and clean. The staff was very kind and attentive too. I would recommend the Alder Inn to anybody that wants a comfy and cozy place to stay for a visit.

The reason someone stays in a motel as opposed to a resort, other than usually lower cost, is because generally they have plans outside where they are staying, and are staying there to have a good nights sleep. We wanted to enjoy our stay at the Alder and the raving reviews on Booking.com, induced us to spend $711 including taxes, for three nights, to stay at this motel. Sadly, for all three nights, we suffered a miserable inability to have a good nights sleep.First, the motel had a really old mattress which caved in, in the middle, so we invariably both roll to the middle. We asked the motel if they could change mattresses but of course they couldnt... they said they added a topper. It felt exactly the same. We both tried our best to adjust and sleep, but simply couldnt.Second, the place has no air conditioning so one is forced to sleep with windows open, or suffer a smallish room with no air circulation (this seems like an old motel, likely 60s or 70s). It has an outdoor jacuzzi which it says is open from 10am to 10pm. However, on night 3, a group of people decided to throw a party in it until 3am, keeping everyone awake. We asked them to stop but they ignored us, so we called the hotels emergency number. Someone answered and 20-30 mins later the noise stopped. The following morning, separately, another guest and the hotels manager both took credit for stopping the late night party. Neither mattered, because we had lost yet another nights sleep.Frankly, between the mattress and the partying, at $711, its inexcusable. As I mentioned at the outset, we wanted to enjoy the Alder, but after three nights of weak to no sleep, we were happy to escape. Take our advice, if you want to sleep, unless youre a glutton for punishment, please ignore the Booking comments... and go anywhere else... you wont regret it.

Alder Inn was recommended to us by friends and we were really looking forward to our stay! This place did not disappoint. We stayed in Unit 20. The room was very clean, and perfect for our needs. I loved all the decor and the grounds. When we arrived the owner, Michael, was so great and helpful. We walked everywhere- its so close to restaurants and the water. We also borrowed a couple bikes one afternoon and cruised around the area. I can see what a great spot this would also be in the winter! We will definitely be back!

This was a perfect spot for my husband and I for a quick trip to Lake Tahoe for skiing. The location is great and very close to Heavenly ski resort. The rooms are cozy and well updated. The only reason for the four star rating, is that the noise from the surrounding rooms and street can be easily heard.

Worth every penny. Bed was awesome. Rooms super clean. Small lodge with quaint feeling right off Ski Run. Outside fire ring, Hot tub, and a pool. Alder Inn is close to shops and all the Ski Run marina attractions, which is great. I was sad when I booked for the weekend, and could only stay one night, but I will be back.

Stayed at the alder Inn during a week day getaway in the middle of September to visit with some family. We stayed two nights while staying in South Lake Tahoe and LOVED the quaint and cozy Alder Inn! Its location is perfect! They provide bicycles for use during your stay, and there are tons of restaurants, coffee shops, bars, stores, etc within a short bike ride! We took advantage of this and biked to breakfast in the morning and around the lake. They also have tons of family orientated activities (such as ping pong, horseshoes, basketball, pool, hot tub, etc) as well as outdoor seating and fire tables throughout. The grills would also be great for a family or longer stay, but we were not there long enough to take advantage of everything they had to offer. The owner and staff really care about their guests experience and it shows! We will definitely be staying here again!

They have 3 different fire pits, ping pong table, lounge areas and a bbq which was nice, no one group hogged any of them. Very family oriented and they allow dogs upon request.Cons: Bring a fan it does get hot and the window open isn’t enough, they have No AC. And the spa was not hot. The room was absolutely perfect with lovely decor, lots of decorative pillows, soft sheets, comfy bed. The kuerig had good coffee and there were little treats like a tiny Twix and bags of mms. I would highly recommend the Alder Inn. I booked seven rooms at this location for my daughters wedding at Heavenly Mountain. The decision was made after several phone conversation with the owner, Laura, who was so helpful and courteous. We were pleasantly surprised on arrival by the location, the helpful staff and the quaintness of the Inn. I normally stay in large nation chain hotels when vacationing and am so happy that we chose otherwise for this stay. The Inn is across the main street from the Lake. We arrived in a storm with no reservation. It was last minute - the roads were closing and we were actually supposed to stay in Reno, NV. A last minute phone call confirmed the availability of the room and we pulled off the road into the motel desperate to get out of the snow. Augberine came out and shoveled a spot clean for us to pull into and then showed us to our room - all with a welcoming smile. The room was great - exactly what we wanted with a beautiful view of the snow outside.
