I truly cannot give Travis and his team at Advantage First Lending a better review. From our very first conversation to our very last, Travis and his team were nothing but cordial and respectful. They were easy to keep in contact with and they worked diligently on my loan. They were able to find me a loan with terms that were suitable for mine and my family’s needs. What FOUR lenders in the last 12 months told me I couldn’t do, Travis and his team made happen. The entire process was seamless, easy, and positive. His team was respectful and punctual. Everything happened exactly the way he said it would. He saved me and my family from continuing to live paycheck to paycheck with no savings, by helping us get our cash out refinance. Thank you a million times!!!

Top notch experience! I worked with Caleb (Loan Officer) and Kerissa (Underwriting) on my refinance. Both of them reached out regularly to provide status, guidance, and answer questions/concerns. Although we had issues with the initial appraisal of our home, Caleb hung in there patiently until we were able to overcome the issue. *The issue had nothing to do with Advantage First; this was completely outside of their control/purview. Both Caleb and Kerissa then moved very quickly to process, close, and fund the loan. And for this, my wife and I are forever grateful! Both Caleb and Kerissa are very professional and attentive and I would absolutely recommend Advantage First to friends and family!

Started the process ok, agent (Graham) was very courteous. Had a couple of issues getting the correct paperwork submitted, but they did their best to try and help us get the loan approved. Unfortunately, do to us getting so far behind because of our health issues, we were unable to get the help we needed at this time. The advice and caring we received was above and beyond. We would highly recommend them.

He was punctual in returning my calls or text and his mannerism is superb. Used this company to refinance our home starting in January. Dealt With Mike A. My husband is a Military Veteran. This company gave us the runaround from January 2024 till April 2024. Telling us our payment would be a little lower and we would get back 28,000 as we have over 200,000 in equity. We were instructed to not pay our mortgage while the refinancing was going thru. We had to actually do the leg work for this company, work the company should have done. Then when they were ready to close Mike told us our payment would be $500 more than what we pay now on our mortgage and wed be getting back $5,000 instead of the $28,000 we were told from the beginning. They reeled us in, only to find out nothing they said was accurate. In the meantime, by not paying our mortgage for 2 months, as they instructed us NOT to do, we have late fees, and no way to catch up with what we owe. Would NEVER recommend this company to anyone, ever! They screwed us bigtime!

I can mention that they did a fantastic job working out my Cash out refinance loan and they would be enough for a good review. However, during the process another company called and said they could do a better job. I explained this to Kevin and he understood there is competition in this game. Turns out the company were blowing a little more smoke than anticipated and when I explained this to Kevin, he was understanding and was able to provide even better numbers than originally stated. Point is, they dont stray away from a challenge. They know what they are doing is good and will stand by even if you want to verify through someone else. I really appreciate what they did for me and want to thank they entire team.

We worked with Kurt and Jessica to purchase a home in Oregon. These two absolutely killed it! We had purchased one home prior and the experience was short of terrifying. There were tears from both my wife and I during the last mortgage process from frustration and despair.We were expecting something similar but I cant express how well the process flowed. The only tears were tears of disbelief and happiness with how easy everything was. Kurt went over everything up front. When I responded to a letter I received in the mail, I did not know what to expect. I spoke with Shane Hogan and things changed from that point on. One thing I wish I knew prior is that the process included a hard credit check that opened me up to solicitations from other mortgage companies - so if you are not 100% ready to move forward in this process it might be something to keep in mind.

As first time buyers we heard stories of lost funds and loans falling through and we were so scared to begin this process, so we did our research and spoke to many different companies before we chose Kory at Advantage First. Kory was the only one we felt did NOT push us to stick with his company. He even encouraged us to shop around and do what we were comfortable with and that was what really pulled us in, in addition to his amazing work ethic. Kory was ready and waiting for our call/email/text at all hours and would always get back to us within good time! I called Kurt at 5:00 pm on a Friday. He came in with his team and saved the day!!! He called the real estate agents, got an appraiser out, extended contingencies and had everything cleared to close before end of the following week. NOT only that but had my loan ready to go within the 45 day escrow the sellers were asking for. After a series of events left us financially extended, my spouse and I began looking into taking some of the equity out of our home through a refinance a year ago (November 2021). We decided to go with AdvantageFirst and after a little initial miscommunication, we were put in touch with Tommy Feldner, Director of Sales, who then put us in touch with Jessica Sanders, VP of Loan Performance. Tommy is a clear, direct, professional, and helpful communicator who does exactly what he says he will do, and Jessica is the genuine hero of our story. Our previous lender, through an unbelievable series of errors, incompetence, and bad actions, needlessly complicated the refinance process for months. Just after the Feds initial interest rate hike and before subsequent increases, Jessica ensured that our initially promised rate was locked in. If it ended there, we’d be grateful. Our previous lender failed to document, misreported, and caused multiple problems which nearly shut the process down several times. Jessica extended our locked in offer at least twice – maybe three times. I lost count in the chaos. More than that, and ultimately far more importantly, Jessica spent hours and hours over days and days from July 2022 until today – the end of November 2022 – working with us and our previous lender to see this process through. Jessica guided us and fought for us every step of the way. It would have been entirely reasonable for Jessica to give up on us and our deal any number of times. She communicated, supported, and encouraged. If not for Jessica’s skills and experience coupled with her tenacity and genuine compassion, there is no way we would be in our current solidly sustainable financial situation. My husband and I are first time home buyers and admittedly we didn’t know what we were doing in terms of which lender to go with. We thought it had to be one of the big guys like Wells Fargo or Bank of America. A friend of ours recommended Kurt from AdvantageFirst Lending and we were like who?? Haha! We spoke with Kurt and realized he was definitely the perfect fit. He is very personable and gave us the detailed information we wanted to know about our loan and thats harder to find with the big lenders. We needed escrow to be done quickly and going through a direct lender like AdvantageFirst Lending was the best decision for that. Two stars because the SR. Loan originator was a really nice person and explained everything extremely well. Just one major information that wasnt told to us that he wasnt aware of. His Suprivisor is the problem. His supervisor knew this very important information and did not bother to tell his employee this information resulting in a major financial surprise for us. His supervisor has awful customer service skills. We had to keep reminding him what the problem was and he kept telling us what we already know. He finally gave a insincere apology at the end and did not answer the question as to why this information was not told to us prior to us signing the paperwork. We will not be using this company in the future.

Do you believe in define intervention? You may be wondering why a review is starting out with this question. Well, I can tell you I am now a true believer!I received one of those random do you want to re-fi call, not from Sean, and I said ‘sure if you can get me what I want without costing me anything’. The caller said no problem and so it began. Then I received a call from Sean, I just assumed, as he did my current loan, the outreach was because he has some visibility into what I was doing. Wrong! He was calling to tell me there had been a change in lending guidelines and he know I had wanted to do a cash out re-fi. We talked and I told him what I was doing and in true Sean fashion, he asked if he ‘could look at what I had been promised and in the meantime would work up some numbers for me. No pressure if the other lender could deliver something he could not’ he would understand. The long and short of it all is the “promise” was empty, $15,000 in fees were buried AND I foolishly did not catch it, thankfully, Sean did.Sean and his team were able to get me what I wanted in what I will say has been by far the most efficiently processed loan I have ever done. Every member of the First Advantage team and I worked with was fabulous! Working with the landing agent I was supposed to close the refinance of my house on August 20th 2022. Everything seemed solid and all the proper documentation was turned in, reviewed, and was ready for closing. August 20th came and went and no one called or followed up with the closing transaction. I followed up with them only for them to tell me that the transaction was not going through! Speaking to the lending agent, he specifically told me not to make my August payment because everything was going to go to closing on August 20th and I would skip two payments before making my first payment to them directly. The thing that bothers me the most is that this has affected me in terms of my credit score and now Im 2 months behind on my mortgage! They have failed to take responsibility for their mistake and have spinned the situation to relieve themselves of the liability and at fault for not executing this transaction. Im very upset, very disappointed, and will not recommend this company for anyone to refinance their home! This is a very s***** way of doing business! This shows poor character of the individuals that are employed by that organization!

I had reached out to Sean last year and finally completed a re-fi with him and AvantageFirst Lending this year. Originally I was shopping around for a quote in order to eliminate PMI and this is where Sean really showed me how reputable he and the company operated. At this time last year the rate wasnt as discounted as much as this year, Sean looked at my situation and my goal (remove PMI) he suggested reaching out directly to the existing Mortgage holder and see if they would work with me to remove the PMI. I did but unfortunately they werent as agreeable. Fast forward about 6-8 months and I re-connected with Sean. If I were to describe a lender’s perfect client, it would be an individual that receives a W2 every year from a single employer with a low DTI (Debt to Income) Ratio. They are a slam dunk for Fannie Mae/Freddie Mac loan approvals. On the other side of that spectrum, there is me. Self employed with a high DTI and revenue streams that aren’t classified under W2 income. There are numerous challenges with clients like me as we don’t fit nicely into the boxes that determine lending eligibility. I knew this prior to shopping for lenders as I had a previous home purchase that took approximately 6 months from the date of application to close. A brutally, exhausting process. This time around, I blasted out applications to numerous lenders throughout SD County trying to provide as much transparency and preparation upfront so that each company would know the challenges they faced with my particular scenario. Especially in the current market where houses are selling quickly, lenders have a large pool of buyers to accept as clients further making my application much less appetizing. One of the companies that came highly recommended even took a look at my financials and said that she couldn’t see a possibility in which I would get approved for any loan amount.Reflecting on my experience this time around with my home purchase, I felt inspired to write up a review for Sean and the company he’s employed by, Advantage First. After I was rejected flat out by that lender and a handful of halfhearted responses from others, Sean took on the challenge of my application immediately while knowing the difficulties he would face upfront. He invested a level of dedication and expertise that would make even Elon Musk appear lazy. Knowing that I had someone like Sean, whom I had never met previously, give me the level of attention that every client or consumer can only wish for spoke volumes. As each hurdle arose, and there were numerous, he would tackle it going above and beyond what’s typically expected of his position. Morning or evening, weekday or weekend, Sean was available and willing to work on my file. While he did this, he of course had multiple, other clients that he is required to process as well. He exhibited a high level of professional and personable qualities as he juggled these responsibilities. Personally, I’ve always felt that as long as a lender is able to get my loan approved then I am satisfied with their performance. Sean has redefined that role for me now by setting the bar so high that not only would I recommend everyone seek him for loan applications, they should seek him just to experience what it feels like to be a top priority. For any future home purchases, investments, etc, I will always go to Sean to close the deal. If I were his employer, I would pay him as much as it took to keep him satisfied and if I were a competing company then I would try to pay him as much as it took to get to him to work for me. I can’t say enough positive words to emphasize how pleasant Sean made this buying experience. Do yourself a favor, save Sean’s contact info for the next time you need a lender. You will have no need to shop anywhere else.

I saw a banner ad on the Internet from Lending Tree online and filled out the form, which stated it was going out to numerous brokerage companies for quotes. I used my cell phone, which I never answer, but I was curious to see if anyone could help me refinance my home after trying for years with no luck.Only one person sent me a text early that morning, and I began texting back and forth because he was very quick to respond and offered very positive answers. I thought Id take a chance and we spoke on the phone.His name is Kory and he was amazing. Every other company I spoke with since the market crashed was so pushy. Kory was professional, intelligent, and he knew exactly what he was doing.I explained the problems and complications of my current situation, and instead of putting me off, he said he loved a challenge. That was awesome to hear and I had hope I might be able to get out of my variable first mortgage of 15 years and fixed second mortgage of 8.575%, which was killing me financially.It turned out that I actually qualified to use my VA loan that I never used to purchase my home with initially because they had lower limits on coverage 15 years ago. I was so excited to use my VA loan and it worked so well with my current situation.It took about 6 weeks to get everything done and my loan was just funded May 16th. I no longer have to worry about a second mortgage and I got money out to pay off all my credit card debt, which was more of a relief than I can explain. This company gave me the runaround on a mortgage refinance. They were working on it for three months, with constant mistakes on their end and dozens of ignored emails and calls. I’ve refinanced before, and I know the process should only take about a month. Everyone was unprofessional and made tons of mistakes. I decided to cancel my refinance altogether. Do not work with them, and do not send them any of your personal information and documents, learn from my mistakes.

I picked this company because of these great reviews and am shocked that I am having such a bad experience, maybe I got a broker that is either new or just not one of the good ones - Daniel Auriemma was the broker that I talked to begin my journey of refinance, I needed guidance and feedback and told him so. I did a lot of research and held out to do business with someone that I felt I could trust. Daniel was very kind and informative and I felt I had a good repour with him so I allowed him to run a hard inquiry and since then, he has not communicated with me once, I let messages with him and his manager, no one has gotten back to me. Bait and switch or predatory lending practices may be experienced from this lenders mailing advertising. Was send a letter stating I am pre-qualified for 30 yr mortgage refinancerates of 3.5 to 3.875% with $57k cash out due to pre-sceened credit worthiness.Upon calling they insisted to run my credit check before verifying the rate and then informed that my rate is 5.8%. I asked why the discrepancy between the letter and now given rate and Estabans explanation was the rates go up daily and it went up two percent by the time they mailed the enter to today. I opened the letter as soon as I received it. I know the Fed is not raising rates by 2% in a matter of 3-4 days so why the falsely advertised rates in a mailing? My credit hasnt changed. Just bait and switch and now I have an inquiry ding on my credit report.Buyer beware I do not recommend this company.Now they sent a letter of credit rejection when I did not even apply for a loan or request credit line, I made it clear I was just shopping for rates. I hope the FCRA will respond to this situation. If I see something like a credit denial on my credit report I will seek my rights by the full letter of the law.

This is the second time we have tried to close and weren’t able to. The first time, the company fired the employee who was working on our loan and just let us fall through the cracks. Just talked with a very pushy and arrogant man. I received advertising in mail and contacted (based off reviews). Just wanted to run my credit without answering some basic questions. Cut me off when I would talk and kept telling me he could not give me an outline of what I need to receive interest rate advertised. I have my mortgage with WellsFargo and have refinanced once. Questions I had asked would not of been a problem with WellsFargo and they would have given the requirements needed to qualify for rates without asking. In today’s hot real estate markets as a buyer, you really have to put together a dream team that works with you towards your goals. On one hand, you’ve got to choose a real estate agent that will keep your best interests in mind, whether that be fighting for seller concessions or repairs, or building rapport with listing agents to probe for information on key aspects that a seller is looking for in an offer. Secondly, you’ve got to bring your own A-game and ensure you’ve got all your ducks lined in a row with regards to credit worthiness, funds for a proper down payment, and the motivation and constitution to relentlessly search for your dream home, and be ready and willing to submit an offer at a moment’s notice in the interest of time. Lastly, you’ve got to have a solid idea on what your budget is, obtain a pre-approval, and select a broker/lender that can knock one out of the park when it comes to funding your purchase.This is where Advantage First Lending comes in. I was empowered to offer shortened contingency periods for the Appraisal and Loan, which helps to compete with even all-cash offers. It’s possible my particular loan was a super easy one for them, but they gave a clear to close in record time. It was so unbelievably quick that I’ll refrain from specifying exactly how many days, because let’s face it, everybody’s situation is different and I wouldn’t want this review to misrepresent their service levels. The point of this long winded review is that I was undeniably impressed by all aspects of how they approached my home purchase. My agent was impressed with how on-point they were with all their communications. Folks, even the listing agent was impressed with how confidence inspiring they were and how that helped in putting my offer at the top of their short list. I should stop here. I just want it to be known that they have earned all my repeat business moving forward.
