Locker room is cleaner than most other 24-hour Fitnesses in San Diego, but there is still lots of room for improvement. The accessible shower curtain had mold and the walls of the shower were dirty with mold. The other showers seemed to have the same issue. Other than that, I’m surprised that everything seemed to be in working order instead of like the Amena Court location or the Imperial location which have multiple issues with things broken, clogged or not working in the women’s locker room alone. I’ve been to about 8 different locations in San Diego and it seems that 24-hour fitness as a whole is not very concerned about cleanliness or sanitation.

Used to love coming to this gym to play basketball but now they rent the basketball court during the most inconvenient hours to a basketball team with no prior notice to clients other than a sign on the door. They have now changed the days again without any prior notice.

While I like the convenient hours of this place and the fact that it is so close to home, I have to agree with the majority of the reviews concerning cleanliness. The bathrooms, locker rooms, toilets and pool area are nasty. You can feel the grime and humidity of a moldy, unaired and poorly ventilated facility. The pool, which is one of the reasons I joined, is not manned in the slightest. The lane dividers are old and loose serving no purpose at all but decorative. The water is grimly and the pool is clearly not cleaned daily….or weekly it would seem. Rules are not enforced and, as another person mentioned, people just hang out and move in and out of sweat inducing environments without the ability to clean anything. Upstairs, the weight room is old and cleaning equipment is pretty poor. The TRX’s are about to break and have seen much much better days. This could be such a great facility if a little care and attention to detail was put into it. The staff are friendly enough but not many seem to be working on keeping the place in good shape so one wonders how good this company is at treating their staff? The membership is pretty cheap so maybe there is no incentive to work harder or care.

THIS GYM IS A DUMP NEEDS NEW MANAGEMENT ASAPThis 24hour Gym location has the worst equipment and equipment maintenance that I have ever seen for a gym. A good majority of the cable machines are either broken or lack service. The pectoral fly machine seat is a sever danger to any person that goes in there the pin that keeps the seat up is broken and there was a 45lbs plate shoved under the seat holding it up, Yikes. The Manager Dan is one by far one of the worst managers in the customer service industry. I’m just curious where all the gym fees and “equipment maintenance” fees are going, because it ain’t the equipment it seems to be allocated somewhere else like in his pocket. I have been in better Gyms in the middle of Afghanistan that have better quality and hygiene than this dump. The worst part is the other nicer facility down the road is too packed out so most locals are forced to give their money to this slum lord. I can wait for an EOS Gym or something to open up in Escondido.

I dont know what it is about the showers at 24 hour fitness, but they are always disgusting. This one is better than the Oceanside location, but still yucky, with hair all over the walls and flies on the ceiling!! I always see the housekeeper there working, so I dont think its her, I think they dont have a cleaning protocol in place??? I used to work in the veterinary field, so I know how easy it would be to spray everything down with a hose and bleach water every day. Not sure why this is not getting done. These photos were taken on a weekday afternoon, so again, not a very busy time. And yes, those are flies in the corner above the shower. One of them landed on my bag. So gross.I go to great lengths not to touch anything (I wear special shoes and bring something to stand on in the shower) but Im about to give up using their showers at all, especially since the water is never hotter than lukewarm, its a shame...hot showers were one of the perks I looked forward to.The good thing about this location is that their hot tub and pool have been open every time I have gone and there is always a lane for me to swim in.But I do see men in the hot tub/pool in their underwear almost every time I go. Its uncomfortable. They invented bathing suits specifically because underwear shows EVERYTHING.

This club might be the dirtiest club in town. There are dust balls all over the club floors. The dressing area in the mens locker room is filthy. The showers are filthy as well. Many time there are hairballs all over the shower floors as well as disposable shaving razers and flossing picks. There are also tiny black sewer flies through out the showers.This lack of maintenance at this club starts in their parking lot. The equipment is maintained pretty well and there is a good variety of equipment to use. The tall ceilings are a plus and give you the feel of lots of fresh air and the lack of a confined feel. The air temperature is now maintained at a comfortable level thanks to the two new AC portable units upstairs. Overall the potential to be a great experience if only they spent some more money to clean it up more regularly.

No longer 24hrs, let alone past 9PM!What is the goal here?To maximize profits at the customers expense.Machines are consistently broken with no urgency to repair.Bikes were removed from the bottom floor and the cycling room upstairs was converted to a training room which is now LOCKED.Whats the deal with the old room downstairs that used to hold a daycare for your customers? Why not convert this room for the clubs personal training agenda?La Terraza is a poorly run facility with declining amenities.

I’m very shock how no body clean the bathroom in a regular bases. I found wine and hard liquor empty bottles in the shower which I volunteered to clean. The most disgusting 🤮 part was female stuff on the floors (that I couldn’t touch). I think bathroom need to be kept clean as much as possible. This location is the most dirty gym I been, I visited 4gyms. so far all clean but this location. 400 La Terraza BlvdEscondido, CA 92025. As a big fan of sauna after a workout, I’ll say that this is the last gym you want to go to for that. The locker room is nasty, the showers are old and gross, the pool and hot tub stink like chlorine a mile away. So does the water in the shower, if you don’t want to smell bad after a shower there you need to take another shower at home. The sauna smells like pure sweat, it’s definitely never cleaned. The second floor with all the equipment is fine, so if you’re only looking to get a workout in and dip - it’s not bad. Shower, sauna, pool, hot tub - absolutely not, go to the 24h in Esco mall instead. That one is clean and very enjoyable

This place isn’t even 24 hours which was the entire reason I got a membership. The hot tub always looks questionable, steam room is always gross, the sink has so much filth & rust on it that you’ll get sick drinking the water, and there aren’t any drying machines for my swimsuit in the locker rooms like I was promised. The only pro is that this place is never super busy. So it’s okay to go to just to swim and then leave.EoS in Oceanside is so much better. I love their towel rental system as I like having one towel for swimming, one for the sauna, and one for a shower. AND I don’t have to clean or remember to bring them. You can bring 2 friends & they have massage chairs. The saunas are separated in the corresponding loker rooms so as a women I feel more comfortable. The classes range from drumstick workouts to a Thai/kickboxing class. The only con is that it’s always busy because everyone loves it.So if you are looking for somewhere that’s meh and you get in & get out and you don’t workout late on weekends, this place is for you. If you want somewhere that has a lot of machines, classes, has towel service, and IS ACTUALLY 24 hours, pick EoS.

What is the point in calling this gym 24 hour fitness when it’s not going to be open 24 hours? You guys charge me the same price for when was open 24 hours to when yall changed it to open 5am - 9am. On top of that, you don’t even have the decency to let any of us know if you’re going to be open or not. Some days you don’t even open at 5am, either cause your people are late or because you just don’t say anything and we all end up waiting outside well past 5am just to go on. It always dirty, the bathrooms are gross, and nothing is ever organized.

5 stars because of the effort being made by management to clean things up. A lot of machines that were pulled a year ago are being fixed and put back out for use. Restrooms are clean. Double the amount of weight plates now, weight tree added. Twice as many kettle bells from last year out on the floor. More foam rollers. Sauna has LED bulbs and new wood. It’s now an enjoyable environment to work out in.

Only gym that any random person can come walking in at anytime. Basketball fire exit door is broken and can easily be open from the inside and the outside. Random people come and go. Non-gym members starts arguments on the court.Its bad enough they can not afford to have a cleaning staff, but at least have some security.Manager does not understand how unsafe and liable the gym is if a member gets assaulted because of the negligence.

This is the worst gym I’ve ever been to. Many of the lockers in the locker room were broken. People gather around the whirlpool, steam, room, sauna and pool with out going in, they’re just hanging out. The rules of showering and not wearing sneakers in the sauna or steam room seem to not apply as I watched people come straight from working out and coming right in. I saw quite a few people take off the shoes and shirts and jump into the whirlpool after working out. It is disgusting and no one walks around to enforce rules or tell people to congregate elsewhere. The locker rooms are filthy and the whole place is mismanaged.

Hello 3 months ago I went in and signed up for 24hour fitness and specifically told the guy I wanted to sign up for one month and one month only, because I had 2 weeks off from Christmas break. I found out that the guy I signed up with put me on auto renewal, so I told the front desk when I went back in to cancel my plan. As of yesterday I was charged for a 3rd month and decided to call 24 Hour Fitness and they proceeded to tell me I was signed up for a 6 month plan for $35 a month, when I originally simply asked for one month of membership and one month only!! To top it off the only way I could cancel my membership and stop paying was to pay $50 to get out of my contract when the original plan was just to be one month of the gym because I was on Christmas break. When. I called 24hour fitness I asked if I can get a refund, and they proceeded to say since it was in my contract that I signed, getting a refund would be slim to impossible, even though I simply requested 1 month of membership and they didn’t even show me what I was signing, they simply said sign here.I didn’t know that 24 hour fitness hired ex cons and shady people. It wouldn’t let me put the first original month, because it was too far in my bank statements.

I was willing to let everything go, but they changed the hours. 24 hour fitness should change it’s name it’s misleading. First they raised my membership from 300 a year to 329.99. When I signed up 2 years or so ago they assured me my membership was locked in til I canceled. New members are still only charged 300, what a slap in the face for loyal customers. When my membership expires I will be finding a new gym.

The weight room is 4 stars. Free weights are plentiful, but some of the machines are janky or dont give resistance through a full range of motion.The cardio equipment is sub-par. Treadmills either dont ramp up to running speeds or have their menus stuck on pace so you cant see how far youve run. One of the free motions told me I ran a mile in under 4 minutes and Im no Roger Bannister.

The sign at the entrance says theyre doing it to better fit club usage patterns. Yeah, sure. Every Monday Im in there at 430 and theres a lot of people working out. I like the location and I like how spacious it is. It’s just really dirty, it’s like the floors don’t get swept, the locker rooms don’t get mopped and the bathrooms aren’t clean. People do not wipe their sweat off the machines or mats. Staff is nice

While I really love this gym, there’s only a couple things that make me want to go to the one by the mall. Don’t get me wrong, the gym is very clean, the bathroom are great, the staff is great, the equipment is great, but absolutely no one here as basic gym Etiquette. The weights are pretty much just thrown anywhere which 30lbs in the 10lbs slot and just all over the place. It makes it hard to find any of the weights when they’re all put back in the wrong spots and thrown all over the gym. great gym still but this is the one thing that is extremely frustrating.

I started my membership again and now that the one in the mall isn’t 24 hours anymore( what’s the purpose) I started to drive all the way to Carmel Mountain since it’s new and always clean. When compared to other 24 hr fitnessesPros: bigger pool 3 lanes vs 2Cons: dirty, mold in showers, sauna, steam room, toilets. I would have the cleaning crew spend some extra hours doing cleaning wherever there is mold or dirt build up (sauna, steam room, showers, swimming pool, spa, and toilets). Not as updated as others, super hot upstairs (no fans or other ac). They also dont have the swimsuit dryer! I would drive the 2 miles to the other location for a cleaner and better workout.

Wonderful experience this morning at 24 hr Fitness. Walked in after not having been to a gym since before the pandemic. The receptionist was welcoming and pleasant. I expected a problem but all I had to do was put in my number, then my fingerprint and I was in. There is an amazing variety of cardio machines downstairs. Upstairs, they had an abundance of circuit machines and free weights. They have a long staircase which was challenging for me to descend because of my posterior knee problem. Afterward, I saw that they had an elevator which was a relief, even though it was not working and in need of repair. I am hopeful that it will be fixed soon. I definitely plan to return and highly recommend this location.

I use this gym because of its convenient location but the quality is subpar. The showers are usually unclean & there are tiny flies in there. The cardio equipment is good & there are plenty of machines. The weight room, however is another story. Some machines have been broken for over a month, the dumbbells are never organized, the mirrors are dirty... Also the weight room is always hot in the summer (its on the second floor & they seem to be unwilling to use the AC).Contrast that with the 24HR at the mall, which is a newer & much nicer facility that the staff keeps clean.

Normally I don’t leave bad reviews unless someone really upsets me. I come to this gym almost daily and last night when me and a friend went in to work out, my friend wanted to purchase a water. The coolers usually have a sign on it saying “closed” when it’s closed. Since there wasn’t a sign on the fridge, my friend proceeded to grab a water to take it to the counter to be rung up but out of no where employee Wyatt yell “Yo It’s closed!”. My friend doesn’t speak very good English so he asked politely “can I buy it?” And Wyatt said “I said no!” and rolled his eyes. He then returned talking to his friend at the counter. He’s rude, disrespectful, and completely ignored us when we came in. The customer service is definitely not it at night! Never had a problem otherwise. Stay clear of Wyatt if you don’t wanna be disrespected.

I like this club. Now that they are open 24 hours again, im very excited for the probability to switch from the membership gym i have now. Steam room sauna. big enough free weight section to hold alot of people. Does seem a little dirty and dingy. And i overheard members talking about how much needs to be fixed around there. I have not been enough times to notice what they were talking about. It is a little run down and outdated as well. But i think for me this will be a good fit

By far the nastiest 24hrs in north county. Soon as you walk in just smell of odor, due to floors not clean, equipment as well. Showers are atrocious, shower heads are full of hard green buildup so they dont fully work. Should of made at least 10+ showers in all 24hr gyms. Have not seen any cleaning crew since Ive come to this location in Escondido.Other 24hr fitness gyms are always smelling good, seen cleaning crew multiple times day or night. Same times as this gym, not 1 cleaning crew in sight. Wont be coming to Escondido location, until they get it together. Rather drive to another location, even with these gas prices. I guess leave it for the ghetto other wise.

+2 stars for having 3 squat racks and actually being 24 hours.-3 stars for having the most stagnant air imaginable. I got sick with the flu twice in first 5 weeks coming here. Almost nobody wipes down after use. I felt like I breathed in the same air every time I came. Building in absolute disrepair. At the bare minimum it needs some industrial fans going 24/7.This gym is less than a mile away from me and Ill be driving the extra 11 miles to go to the other 24 hour location from now on.

5 stars because I got a good deal on membership, great gym just want to see more cleaning in bathrooms locker room and common areas, wish they stopped meeting these teenagers come with pjs big cz earrings bought from Claire’s, don’t get me started on amount of dirty white van shoes I see from men and woman, wear proper gym attire get off your phone and break a sweat so you can feel good, live longer and be happier .

Probably the worst gym Ive been to before, 2nd worst was also a 24hr fitness in SD. The staff here could care less about you if you didnt buy training, the equipment is constantly broken and in some cases has been broken for over a year+, the bball court has been closed off since Jan 2023, the steam room has been closed for maintenance on numerous occasions, many of the stair steppers have been broken for months, I could go on and on if the word count allowed. Covid unfortunately didnt take this corporate gym out, but sure wish it did so a local business could show them how its done. Watch, theyll respond to this with a scripted response as if they care or will do anyrhing about it...they wont, Ive tried that. They offered an apology as if that fixes the problem. Stay away from here if you can.

Great gym, has everything you need. I just moved here from Mira Mesa to this gym. I probably just got entitled on staff acting like staff. Just be prepared that when you come in, you will see staff facing their phones all the time. It does matter the number, if there are 3 staff in front desk, three staff will be on their phones hyper focus on tik tok or other social media. That maybe a good thing to some people that do not want to check in but do not really promote that.

I like this gym for a few reasons. Its not disgusting in any way and I think a lot of people get that mixed up with the fact that the majority of the general public are complete slobs. They do as much as possible to clean up after foul people. The separation between the cardio downstairs and the weight training upstairs is great. Keeps the foot traffic low. Steam room is great, pool and sauna are awesome. Showers and locker room are always clean. Again, once you have the people that cant clean up after themselves, and are just disgusting all around. Thats what makes a gross gym. No telling why older men like walking around naked, but thats never going to change. Great super-sport gym! Awesome staff.

Went to this location three days ago and when I walked into the door nobody to greet me at the desk because everyone was in a huddle talking and paying me no attention as a first time customer. In addition, I ask about lockers and the young lady told me they are upstairs, nobody showed me how the lockers worked and I was totally lost in this gym. Horrible customer service and the location cleanliness was not up to par. I will not return and I do not recommend going to this location.

Came 20 minutes to close on 12/19/21. The only guy at the counter had the doors locked and refused entry, just rudely gave a hand gesture maybe trying convince me they’re supposed to be closed?! We would be out in time, just wanted to dip in the hot tub real quick. What am I paying for? I have never came to one of the locations where they have the doors locked when they’re open. This one lace actually feels like a gym. I like how it is a basketball court, pool, and separated weight and cardio areas. The building and equipment is a LITTLE older than the other 24 hour fitness in the mall, but the size and selection make this gym my favorite in Escondido. The bathrooms are cleanish for a gym and so far it’s been a good experience. I would add more lighting around the exterior of the building and more cameras for customer parking safety. And maybe repair a few lockers. Keep it up!

Place has gone down hill even more after 2020. Between the total of 12 squat racks, bench press, and ezbar there are 4 sets of weight clips. The free weight area is never organized. There are 7 benches/ seats during a busy time you may have to walk from one side of the gym to the other to find the weight you want and hope no one took your bench.

I used to live closer to the Carlsbad 24 hour but I had to move and now the Escondido facility is closer to me and its so disgusting. Theres trash on the Cardio equipment such as empty water bottles, paper towels in the cup holders and the handles are all greasy. The mirrors upstairs are covered in hand prints and it just seems like the gym is never cleaned. The employees in the front are just standing there talking to each other, never am I acknowledge when Im entering or leaving. Im considering just making the drive and going back to the Carlsbad location.

Had a 2 year membership that I paid in full for. Used it for less then a year and then had to move to Idaho for my job. Came back Called to see if we could have it reinstated because the freeze automatically expires and my account was deactivated. The manager said his name was John was pretty rude with me in tone when I wouldnt agree to set up a new membership with a discount and practically refused to ask corporate for me saying that they are probably going to deny me and proceeded to try and get me to buy another membership. He didnt want to deal with it anymore so gave me 3 customer service numbers to call. Each one doesnt connect you with anyone because they closed their call centers for COVID. This gym sucks. It used to be nice. Now on any given day there is at least half a dozen machines, benches, pulleys that do not work. The leg press has been broken for 6 months!!! Half of the time the TVs do not work and when they do they are not competent enough to change the station from cooking or news channels. This is a pleasant place to work out for the most part, but management seems unresponsive to the more minor needs of members (at least those needs Ive indicated to them).For example, consider the metal pins we use to select weight when first using a weight machine. Those pins sometimes go missing, and the club doesnt seem to keep enough replacements handy. Sometimes we can go borrow a pin from another machines weight stack (rendering that other machine unusable), but other times the borrowed pin would be too big to fit. These steel pins probably cost a few bucks; maintenance people could keep some in stock.Also, years ago I requested that they provide more wall hooks in the mens locker room shower area, for hanging our bags of gear while showering. Sometimes all the hooks are in use; we need more. I see wall locations where they could install hooks, and doing that wouldnt cost much. Instead, they spent a bunch of money on decor when they upgraded this club from Sport to Supersport level.And finally, sometimes the maintenance staff is surprisingly slow to get equipment fixed. Its not a serious inconvenience, but worth noting.

I used to have objections to this gym on the grounds that its clerks seemed to misplace my membership information. However, the advent of the finger-scan at the desk has eliminated this issue, and I also like how this gym now provides towels. The weight room is very large, and packed though I wish there were a few more pairs of the same types of free weights, and so is the Group X room. All of the Group X instructors Ive had here are very good. The toilets, locker room, and showers are generally well-maintained; except for one soap dispenser that never gets fixed, but each shower stall has two, anyway.The one downside? There are TVs in the locker room, and on occasion they are playing political talk-shows. Stick to sports, guys!

This is a great gym if you want more of library type of atmosphere !!! But if you are looking to deadlift or do any kind of explosive type of exercises that cause noise, they very strongly frown on it!!! And can be jerks about it (from feedback of others and my own experience ). They seem to care more about a quiet atmosphere, then they do people reaching their highest goals and helping them get there. However, there are a few good trainers here ( because I know them) that are awesome and could care less about the noise you may make. But there a few that will get on your case for deadlifts, ball slams, etc. So, if you want a quiet and low-key atmosphere, this is the gym for you . But if you’re serious!!!, creative, explosive, etc. with your workouts this is probably not the place for you !!! In my opinion, “the gym” is full of noise, it’s full of people doing their exercises and workouts whether explosive, ball slams, dead lifts, etc. That’s just part of a gym!!!! In all my life at different gyms I have NEVER encountered a gym like this one!!! My question is... are they running a gym or are they running a library ???!!!!!!!!

I was threatened by Matt no last name given this evening. At the 24 hour fitness located at 400 La Terraza Blvd Escondido CA 92025. I came to the club around 11:50 pm to use the restroom. From the moment I greeted Matt he was very rude. I signed in as usual and was asked to see a receptionist by the computer. I looked up and saw that his face was very angry so I asked what is wrong. He said “ Have you been here before . I said “no”. He said “so you don’t know about the tiers. You can only go to one club and I don’t know which one that is.You can only go to that specific club. I then said “I am not going to argue with you because you are wrong I can go to any sport but some super sports. I can go to more than one club and google maps does not tell you which one. I only came to use the restroom.” He just waived me off. I am looking around for the restroom and he angrily says “it over there” and point to a wall. I use the restroom and return to the front desk. I politely ask if there is a manager available and he says very angry again “no” then I ask for his name he says Matt. I then say “may I please have phone number so I can call in the morning” he then says look it up on google maps. I say “I don’t want to I want a business card or for you to write it down”.He then says “since you want to take it there I’ll show you. You know what.” I then pull out my phone and say “maybe I should record you since you are acting crazy”. I never press record. He then Strom’s off and gets the card and then I look at the other confused patrons and a man next to me says “what is this dudes problem” I say he must be crazy or racist because there is no other reason for him to be this rude or angry. (He was also pretty rude to the man next to me) The man agrees. He returns with the card and threatens to cancel my membership over and over again. He also refuses to give me the card when I reach my shaking hand out he says “ha your shaking” I then say why are you so angry where is all this hate coming from then he starts to yell at me even louder than before he finally gives me the card and as I am leaving and backing away but still facing him I ask why are you so angry he just keeps yelling and says he will cancel my membership. I leave shaking and in tears. I will sue if he is not fired. I have also reported this incident to a nearby club since Matt was very confident that his actions were ok I am worried that the management at this club is close to him or allows this behavior. I also called after the incident at first he did not answer then when he did he was very rude and said my membership was cancelled then he hung up when I calmly told him how rude he was.I have never been treated with such anger and hate at a gym. His actions were bazaar.

I have been a member at the Terraza location for almost 2 years using only the exercise machines and rowing machines. The final straw for me cancelling my membership yesterday was the lack of AC upstairs for the past year, especially now with the super-hot temps, but in addition to that, the mens bathrooms always have pee on the floor around the urinals. The gym is very crowded Mon-Tues-Wed. The water fountains are very slow. The two TVs upstairs only have court TV on or sports news. Many times no music is playing. It is the only gym I have ever belonged to over my 45 years of membership that didnt have a bench press machine. Backpacks are left everywhere on machines to reserve them for when the person comes back from exercising on some other machine. People sit and text on their phones for 5 minutes for every 1 minute they are working out. And lastly, when the machines break down, several months go by before they ever get repaired. Now I do have to say that the day after I quit, the general manager emailed me asking why I quit to see if I would change my mind and for future improvements. My answer to him was the above.

The jacusi is very dirty, the foam is very dirty and the zauna smells very bad and the stimroom is VERY SLIPPER BECAUSE it has a sign that they do not enter with clothes and people do not understand And they even enter with shoes.... please TO THE MANAGER I WILL PUT MORE ATTENTION....please Thank you
