We had the Greek pizza and garlic fries. Very delicious and large servings! Coffee was not great, but its a bar so I would imagine cocktails are better. Looking forward to sitting in the back patio in the future.

Great atmosphere! It’s surprisingly kid/family-friendly which is a huge plus. The cocktails are really good. Food is good, service is excellent. Honestly, no complaints! I love 1400 Bar & Grill. The history of the building is so interesting and I love the old photos on the walls!

UPDATED REVIEW: I wound up at 1400 for dinner with a friend about a year after my first review. I tried their burger, and it was so good! I will definitely be back for another one.2023: I want to love 1400. I really do. Its a comfortable spot, usually has a table available, wait staff is great and friendly. The food is mediocre and overpriced for what it is. Beers are priced well.

Food was underwhelming and uninspired. The waitress was forgetful, inattentive, and simply bad at her job. She never refilled our water glasses, never checked in to ask if we needed anything, never checked to ask how the food was, forgot an order of toast with one of our meals, delivered the wrong drink. I had to get up four separate times to ask for additional drinks, food items, and even the check. When asking for another drink and our missed order of toast, an older woman with a leathery complexion gave me an attitude and seemed incredulous that I was asking politely for something. One and done. Never spending another dime at this dump.

This could be a great spot save for the totally mediocre food. Weve been trying for a couple of years to find the right thing to order, but after trying most of the menus offerings, my boys my wife and I are done. The service and atmosphere are quite good,but we wont be coming back...... (Until we forget how bad the food is and try it again.)

1400 bar and grill is a great place to come for drinks and food. The Mai Tais are amazing, very good if your into them. I ordered the spam fries and those were a nice treat if you have as much class I do 😂. We also ordered the steamers appetizer, and that was the treat of the whole experience. If you love all seafood I highly recommend you trying it. The shrimp was amazing, the clams and cod are cooked to perfection! We met the owner Yani, and he is a class act, very nice and big on the history of this location, and Greek history as well lol. Please come in and you will not regret it.

Our favorite neighborhood bar and grill. Full bar with great beer selections, including local craft brews. Great food menu with a rotating daily special and a recently added Mexican kitchen menu featuring tacos, burritos and enchiladas (see picture).We both had clam chowder; my wife had the lamb burger which she described as huge and yummy; I had two tacos with carnitas for the meat.

Dont miss the Grandma Cooper - this is a drink special available from exactly 5:00PM to 5:15PM. Evan Williams bourbon and lemon lime soda for $1.05 in memory of the owners grandmother who lived to 105 drinking these (at 5PM every day I just learned). Have one and say cheers to Grandma Cooper! I should mention that the food, service and atmosphere at 1400 are all great too - its an appealing space with big windows that look out on the town.

We were visiting the pinball museum, drove up from Monterey County for the day, and just wanted a place within walking distance to watch the MLB All Star Game and have some food and a few drinks. OMG.... the food was bomb! We had the Spam fries, the Streamers (mussels, clams, etc.), and pulled pork sliders. They were all really yummy. Im a huge fan of this place.

Almost everything here is so darn yummy. The bar pizza is happiness on a plate, the wings platter is superb, a very fun cocktail menu, great fish & chips, a fun brunch menu, and more. Its so nice to have a place thats local, reliable, open late-ish, and homey.The only drawback is that the patio can get pretty crowded and its not the most covid-conscious place around indoors. Drinks can be pricey, so be careful if the well-made cocktails start flowing. The crowd is more on the local side, its a great place for birthdays, date nights, or a solo night.

I havent been in for over 3 years due to the pandemic. Most grateful that Yannis place survived the troubles. I had my usual - the blackened fish sandwich with the vegetarian chop salad as a side.It was better than ever! And of course I washed it down with a Veltins. The Veltins tasted better than ever too! Really conveniently located bar with so much charm! I love the interior and their menu rarely disappoints. (Just know the corn beef hash has mushrooms in it.) There are a wide variety of unique cocktails. And try not to miss out on the bottomless mimosas on Saturday-Sun 11-2 I think. UPDATE 2/24/23 Brought my parents there on a super cold Wednesday night, the doors by our table just wouldnt shut. Moms ginger ale was stale and flat so she ordered tea instead. They still charged the full amount for the ginger ale. Had to ask multiple (4) times for water, and some of the food came out late and cold. We still love this place but those few things were troublesome. Dont charge 4.00 for horrible flat ginger ale

The waiter came to take our order but had not given us menus. Once they came it took a very long time for him to return to take our order - we had to ask the bartender to find him. The fresh brewed iced tea in a very large bottle was the highlight of the lunch. After our food was delivered, we did not see the waiter again and had to get out of our seats to get his attention 3 different times - each time he was on his phone and not attentive to his tables. We ordered a bowl of chowder that was delicious, the side salad was crisp and fresh and the blackened salmon sandwich was very tasty. The food was good enough but a bit pricey for lunch and the service was very, very bad. Definitely not a place for a quick lunch!

The place is really neat. I love the atmosphere and art. The back patio is a real treat. Have randomly encountered live music and a fire. Does the soul good. The drinks are stiff and the people are lovely. They have a delicious home made veggie burger and vegetarian pizza. Overall the vegetarian options are delicious and limited. I consider myself a regular at this worthy establishment. To be honest, i wish there were more veggie options. But thats probably because I go in so often. Definitely worth checking out. Again the patio is really worth checking out on a nice day.

If you are ever in Alameda. This is a must go. Bring a designated driver because you are going to leave here fat and happy, that is, unless you are a vegan needing attention every five minutes.The bartender was amazing, food was amazing, owner still works here and is friendly and not jaded and amazing. Appetizers: the wings, dry rub, tasty, the count was only five so order a couple of plates. The chowder and other seafood dishes are California 5, but a New England 3 (sorry for the east Coast snobby statement)...but truly some of the best seafood I have had here in California. It truly, is equivalent to the high quality that you can get out of the restaurants in Bodega Bay.. I am so sad to write a bad review for a local spot that has so much potential. We were seated on the patio at a great table and then approached by a different staff member who rudely accused us of taking a table from a large party (we had no idea because we had been seated there by a staff member). We were happy to move and asked if we would sit near the fire pit because it was cold, we were told that those seats werent available unless it was we had more people in our group. We sat in a corner table far away from a heater and ordered the spam fries and some beers. The fries came out cold, like sitting out for an hour or more cold. We NEVER send food back but thought maybe it was a honest mistake. The server was nice at first but when we decided not to order more food she was a completely different person and threw the check at us.

I love this place. They have a huge bar and scrumptious food and their staff is always super funny. Everyone here seems to have a sense of humor so sitting out by the fire pits on the patio for a drink is even more enjoyable than you would think from just walking by. I recommend the jalapeno bacon mac and cheese and a nice glass of port. Definitely stop by this place if you are looking for a bite in Alameda!

I saw all of the reviews that others had posted and decided to suggest this place to our group.Long story short, the service was inconsistent, sluggish at the wrong times, and we felt rushed.My wife ordered a drink that she only took one sip of and immediately didn’t like, the waiter said “no problem” and brought her something else, but the drink was on the bill any ways.Lastly, the spaghetti was the most bland thing I’ve tasted in my life.But the burger was good!

Second time in a month going. The 1st time was cool. We had a very young dude as our server and he was GREAT. I returned a few nights ago and got an older blonde chick who was inattentive, rude and appeared not to like the people she was servicing - like us. Drinks were great and food was ok. I got extremely ill from the clam chowder but that could be due my intolerance to lactose, Im not sure. But I do know that I hated the service so much from my second visit to know that I wont be returning. I spend my hard earn money where I feel welcomed, valued and engaged in the environment.

Good wide selection of brews and snacks, making it quite a unique place on Webster. Remember to try their spam fries or deep fried jalapenos. They have three televisions at the bar, usually showing a couple of sports games or some popular shows. The crowd is mixed, with both families and young professionals. The staff is very friendly and quick, but it might be hard to get their attention if they see some friends of theirs.

This is my go to establishment. The staff is incredibly friendly. When I moved into town they welcomed me with open arms and gave me many helpful recommendations about the area. Pizza is fantastic. My favorite meal though is the poblano burger with fried jalapenos on the side.

I sent my burger back 6 times, my waitress was completely disinterested in serving our party. The last time I sent my burger backi had to walk inside and find her since she hadnt been to our table in about 15 minutes. The food is really hit or miss Ive had decent stuff but over all its the epitome of mediocrity with a bit more price. I have never in my life had such rude servers. I have been in the service industry for over 10 years and there is no scenario that I could ever imagined that could justify how we were treated.I went in with a small group of coworkers for causal holiday drinks and we were met with disrespect and hostile service after I had called and told them we were planning on coming in prior to the date. Not only did they make us feel unwanted and uncomfortable they had the audacity to ask a Veteran and Senior citizen to get up out of a 2 top table that we had clustered around so they could seat it for dinner when our bar tab was well over $200. It’s one thing if they need the table but it’s another to be rude to paying customers who are trying to support a local business.We were a neighborhood company and we not only will never be back but I strongly suggest looking elsewhere for an establishment to support in Alameda and to choose one that treats their customers, Veterans, and senior citizens better.

My fellow diners enjoyed the spam fries and moco loco. But if you are a vegan, or avoid salt, fried food, nitrates, beef, dairy such as cheese, white flour, refined sugar, there are no options for you on this menu. I had french toast which was made with Semifreddies cinnamon bread... It was dusted with powdered sugar and served with a tiny slice of watermelon and a tiny slice of cantaloupe. Waitress brought pitcher of brown syrup and butter pats about 3 minutes later. I did not wait.Syrup was brown sugar liquid with no maple flavor at all.I would not eat here again. This has been my conclusion every rare occasion I have dined here in the past 13 years. But some people love this sort of traditional food.

I chose the Ruben sandwich, and it was very greasy; further, it came on wheat not rye bread. My final thoughts are: 1400 is a local spot for drinks and watching sports; and if your hungry, play it safe with their burger.

Great social hangout on the bottom of Webster in Alameda. The patio is comfortable, the beer is cold, and the servers are great.The food...hit or miss. Not the greatest experience. The burger was raw in the center despite requesting well-done. The dutch fries might have been alright if not for the puddle of pungent fryer oil they were served in.The waiter seemed drunk or high, and reacted as if I was over burdening him when I politely requested the check. A tall, bald man wearing sandles, a torn hoodie with no sleaves, and cargo shorts behind the bar wasnt very polite or welcoming either, but I gathered from his behavior and that of those working around him that he was in charge...and more concerned with that than creating an atmosphere conducive to repeat traffic.

My wife and I were in the area from out of of town and the staff at the Hawthorn suggested that we check out 1400, so we did. Mikey, Giannis, and the rest of the staff were awesome, chatting with us, telling us the history of the Building and giving us pointers on what to see in there area.
